I saw that topic brought up yet again on TV yesterday and I don't remember this thread being made so...

Who do you tip and who would you like to be the next Bond?

Pierce Brosnan was quote as saying "I don't know but my money's tipping on Colin Farrel" (sp?)

But don't all Bond's have to be British?!

Brosnan is Irish, from Navan of all places. If you ever go there you'll wonder how the hell he's from there.

Colin Farrell could do it if he went back to his normal accent and behavior. He's a total upper class snob really, from CastleKnock in Dublin. Until recently he was well spoken, well behaved, well groomed etc. He was also a dancer.

Then he decided to go into films and put on a working class Dublin accent, took up smoking and drinking Guinness and 'forgot' his rich upbrining.

If the director sees any tapes with his old accent n look, then he's a shoe in.

There's some other Irish actor in the running isn't there? Some guy who looks like a total nob.

Now , if were assuming that the next bond doesnt need to be british, or have any serious British connections, needs to be mid 30's , early 40's , have a ruthless streak in his character, but be suave , sophisticated, and a bit of a ladies man, theres surely only one single choice in the whole of movieland for the part.

He's not the kind of bond person though - I think Brosnan's kind of character that he projected of Bond was the best character - it was a bit of Marlon Brando's irresistable-lady looking charm mixed with humour in a classy way - I don't think Statham would ever be able to do that.
