People of scotland (glasgow mainly)
How deeply felt is the religious divide between catholics and protestants? i was watching a tv programme that happened to mention the old firm derby and i was surprised that the yoof of today admitted that there was a 'divide' to an extent till today. Do you people hate on each other up there? Is intermarriage common? Give me a sense of the social groupings you have.

ITT Phil mistakenly thinks the idiots who attack one another at Celtic and Rangers games really know or care about religious divides.

Scum, every city has them, ours just think they have a 'reason' for being scum.

Re: People of scotland (glasgow mainly)
Hicks is correct, it is not a religious divide it is a football divide. They just use religion as an excuse, and the fact that Celtic is a mainly Catholic supported club and Rangers is a mainly Protestant supported club just gives them vague justification for behaving like tossers.
To give you an example - my nephew in law thing (brothers partners son) is 21 years of age, was brought up Catholic, went to a Catholic school, followed the Catholic doctrine. He is a Rangers fan. If he is watching a Celtic match and they score he shouts '****ING FENIAN SCUM' (probably not having a clue what 'fenian' actually means) or '****ING PAPE BASTARDS' at the tv. I laugh in his face for being such a moron.
