Bad spelling, short hand "ur" insanity!
Okay, now I hate to go off on you guys (it's not your fault), but I just can't take it anymore.
I hate it when people can't freaking type properly, What is with people who type "U" and "ur" and "cu l8r" Why can't you freaking type properly?
Did it come from cellphones??
----- but that's no excuse! why don't people to type PROPERLY with their cell phone, using T9 - type 733 978 52437 for "see you later" instead of cu l8r it's even LESS keypresses and it makes you look smarter.
the fact that people do it on forums! c'mon! who agrees with me on this.
Ooh, and here's one, does it ever make you NUTS when songs are titled "CU When U Get There" or some stuff like that.

I'm confused. Are you an advertising gimmick or aren't you? I struggle to keep up with this new-fangled internet at times

I think you'll find that most people here agree with you.
However, in a text I sometimes run out of characters and so I go back through the message changing you to u which gives me the extra couple of characters i need.

When I find myself in that situation I start removing the spaces after commas and semi-colons.

Re: Bad spelling, short hand "ur" insanity!
I over-read (...) someone texting what must have been their girlfriend some pathetic apology about some non-event that'd taken place. I'm not sure whether it was the line
'but u no i gt upset coz i care 4 u'
or the entire farce that was conducting one's love life by text. In full view of a nosy scouser.

Well the two other accounts posting from the exact same IP were both advertising gimmicks. I'm rather amused at the persistence myself.

Great then this is a perfect spot for anyone to post any random thought, regardless of how unrelated to the thread or to reality.
I once was a postman and delivered the Christmas wreath for Ronald Regan's front door when he was the Governor of Califronia. I was almost shot by an over-anxious guard because I went to the front door instead of the guard station. Happy days.

he needs to win 'credence' for his gimmick account in order to 'get away' with his future attempts to advertise products.
Unfortunately he is about as subtle as a giraffe in dark glasses trying to get into a polar bears only golf club.

Re: Bad spelling, short hand "ur" insanity!
Yeah, the argument of this topic is relevant to many forums, but not to this one. We're pretty literate around here. Basically (here's to you tomkat), the advert company is creating some kind of personality by typing arguments about common forum topics and posting them. He's probably just copying and pasting from notepad. After doing this for awhile they'll have created a channel for spamming adverts. I'm sure this going to get pretty sophiscated in a few years and maybe popular members we'll even be co-opted with bribes to spam shit.
I hope this 'doubledanger' dies a terrible death. I'm thinking a nasty case of face aids may be fitting.

Although I certainly agree with you, I must state that you are in no way the spokesperson for proper typing. Also, sloppy grammar and lazy syntax is just as annoying.

If you want to type properly, do not use full capitals when typing texts, it does not make you look smarter. The next thing is that you should try to minimize the use of the apostrophe. Also if you want to get on the 'Use Proper Language and Typing'-campaign, I suggest you stop using words as "freaking", start sentences with a capital. And if you quote "see you later" you have to quote "cu l8r' too.
Don't use "c'mon!" as it is a silly short hand for 'Come on'. And it is also a rule that questions are ended with a question mark, who agrees with me on this ?.
Seriously, 0 for originality, -5 for effort.

I'm used to drunken texts. I'd assume it was "see you later" with the 7 instad of the 6 and the 4 instead of the 8. Slightly unsual typos, but ...

I never abbreviate in texts. That's because I'm an elitest bastard though. My flatmate keeps writing 'hay' in her texts and I want to slam an iron into her face. hay gays - that's funny, but writing 'hay' just because you're retarded isn't cool. Oh no.
