I see Jenova have sent out their Dribbling Idiot Squad in an effort to make us underestimate them. Cunning indeed.

Re: Round 26 Predictions?
Jenova will only win if more people dislike the thought of a ND 3 in a row than Jenova winning one round. Asc are due an active round sooner or later. However, alot of people will be more wise to the threat of sk's and cov ops, so I dont agree with Lokken that Asc will ruin quite so many people's planets in R26 as they did this round.
In fact, if Asc just stopped trying to appear oh so innovative and acting like dicks, and just assembled good planets like they can do, they would pretty much cake walk any round where Exi weren't playing.

Or we could rename ourselves 1ulition, introduce HCs, officer, defpoints, attacks you have to join, strict member monitoring and are you getting what I'm getting at here?

Re: Round 26 Predictions?
No, not at all. I was just saying if you focused your energies on planet management - thus: "and just assembled good planets like they can do", rather than thinking of the next big idea to piss off the entire community, you'd win any round Exi weren't playing.

What makes you think that Ascendancy will go for the same tactic again?
The great thing about Ascendancy is that you never know what to expect from them tactically.

You mean to assume that i even care enough to bother interpreting your thoughts furball. To be honest if you are trying to insinuate that jenova are nobody then that is your perogative but do understand i respect someone much more for actually saying what they mean. or perhaps maybe i am spending a bit too much energy even entertaining this discussion. It must be the boredom of havoc setting in.

Why is saying "oh, Asc might have enough active players this round" retarded? since you've just said that nobody knows how many you'll have, why is it retarded to guess/predict?
I guess people are waiting for Ascendancy to have another "good" round after being so quiet for a while.

Btw firstly if you are insinuating that acs are retards then i'm quite certain that every disabled person in the world be very upset at you right now for making fun of their disabilities, Asc members choose to be the way they are....
On the other hand if you mean the people who think ascendancy could win are retards i would like to point out that jonnybgoood already said they would rather piss people off than win
Let me know if i'm missing something here........

Re: Round 26 Predictions?
Honestly Ascendancy's ability round-to-round isn't based upon structured recruitment, good hierarchy, enough officers, or whatever. In fact Ascendancy's performace is purely dependant upon several random variables... like who shows up before ticks start, if anyone takes the inititive to start an attack, if people can be assed to try and dc their incs, how many people crash during the round, etc.

They have done Xp / Value play / Dist whoring / Sk's / Cov Ops / Support tag rounds. I really dont see how they can come up with anything new with the way the game is set up.

Re: Round 26 Predictions?
It wouldn't piss me off that much if Ascendancy won.
Actually, with the attitude displayed by most of the ascendancy people on this forum i'd expect them to win every round.
They probably have the most skilled people in pa these days but they'd rather pretend they're the coolest thing to hit the internet since pornsites.
And the excuses after the round for not winning is kinda beginning to sound like angels.
Ascendancy: We could have won but half our people weren't playing for real.
Angels: We could have won but half our core wasn't playing.
So basicly what I'm saying is, please Ascendancy, try to win a round.
I'm sure a bunch of smart players like you can figure out a way to win a round without having to give up your unorthodox playing style / piss alot of people off.

Yes JBG, and for all these elaborate ploys, it doesn't get you anywhere, you still dont win, unless there is grossly favourable xp formula. I repeat, stick to planet management and Asc will win and you can still have some fun along the way :P

If I wanted to win a round above everything else I'd start an alliance that aimed at winning the round. They aren't really elaborate ploys though, it's more like "hey this would be a cool way of playing because it'll be easy or it'll be funny or people will hate us for it or people won't be able to scan us". The lack of central control usually means that shit happens and sometimes it works.

Dont you see that thinking up the elaborate ploys is half the fun and there is still a chance of winning while being slightly interesting at the same time, pretty sure everyone has done the "get roids, defend roids, build ships" style of play. If the people in Ascendancy were really worried that they might not win the round then they wouldnt be in Asc in the first place....

Re: Round 26 Predictions?
I think we believe if we definitely wanted to win more than anything else then we easily could. Perhaps this is arrogant but when most of us already have 3-4 alliance wins, many Top100/Top50/Top20 finishes there must come a point when you want a different challenge. If I still really wanted to win rounds of PA, like I used to, then the last alliance I'd be in is Ascendancy.
I enjoy PA much more now by the way.

No. Our excuse was that we didn't win because we didn't win. I defy you to find a post claiming no one was playing "for real". Everyone plays "for real", some of them are just shitter than others.
I'm getting tired of quoting myself* here, but go read this and this.

I never thought the day would come I would stand up for Ascendancy, but the way I see it, they are pointing out obvious flaws with the game mechanics and abusing them in a way that I actually like and find interesting. Of late Ascendancy's strategies have been the only thing that actually makes a round interesting.

Why does nobody understand that the "unorthodox playing style" doesn't make you any worse/jeopardise your chances of winning? A group if players who aren't complete idiots don't need a heirarchy to be efficient. Anarchism 101 man
If by "unorthodox playing style" you mean using prelaunch and not rushing home/waking up if you have incs, people have proven numerous times that this level of commitment isn't required to do well in PA nowadays.

Re: Round 26 Predictions?
well first of all i have to say i doubt ascendancy will be playing next round, atleast not under that name.
secondly jenova will be hard to beat, well hope they can be trusted more then the last time they played, when they broke nap with us. well atleast a part of them did.
don't know what next round will bring tho, hope we can grow more as an alliance like we did over the last three rounds, with a nice top 10 finish again.

Re: Round 26 Predictions?
I think one issue with Ascendancy's "unorthodox" style of playing, is that pa team keeps on closing down different ways of approaching the game. We are getting less and less choices, which results in less and less room for (dominating) creativity.

Maybe he has an elaborate plan to stop you, like stealing the alliance name at round start. In which case he's a fool with lots of time on his hands.
Or if that's not it, then he must be thinking on a higher level than you or me and we should probably just take his word for it.
He has been a h-a bc for several rounds now. I expect he knows what you're thinking before you do.

Re: Round 26 Predictions?
Even if we would have all been playing full out(I doubt anyone in asc will argue we did, and I'll point out this doesn't contradict jester as to whether or not we were playing for real as you do not need to be playing full out to be playing for real), the mere fact that we do not really bother with politics or alliance relations would have made this a very had round to win for us. With 60 superbly active superbly talented players, I would like to think we could challenge a group twice that size or perhaps a bit bigger, but we were facing far more than just that. The aggressive nature of the game would also have favoured the masses.
Then again, we might have been able to manage quite a few more crashes on our distwhores had we all been playing full out. Come to think of it, we'd probably all have been playing dist whores if that was the case, which would have made it all quite annoying for anyone attacking us.

The aggressive nature of the game always favours those who are disliked least, as opposed to those who are liked most.

Why would that bother Ascendancy?
A lot of them seem to like it there. Being able to play how they want and all. Sure, I'd guess a bunch would be inclined to join eXi, but that shouldn't stop Asc playing.

If that progresses any further I will ban you both.
And ascendancy will play next round. And we'll win! Actually I promised people I'd stop spreading rumours about us having masses of out of tag planets and hidden stockpiles so ignore that.

Re: Round 26 Predictions?
I predict myself to beat my own record in terms of sending defence to my own ally. I think my current record is 0 Yay for 3-fleeting and sleeping at night.
On the other hand, offence is the best defence.

Re: Round 26 Predictions?
Yes, that does seem to suit you early in a round Chimpie
I predict I dont want to stay up at night and be an ingalaxy support planet. Though I will ofc have to ask Fiery if MH can be bothered to enforce the support planet rule or not first.

Re: Round 26 Predictions?
Where have all the predictions gone??
1. CT
2. ND
3. Asc
4. Jenova
5. ROCK
or something like that. 3-peat will be difficult, but i dont think there is really a clear cut favorite yet, so i'll put ct down for fun. i agree asc could win, but i dont think they will atm with they're playstyle, but they certainly will have an effect on the outcome. but no, i don't think jenova will win.

Re: Round 26 Predictions?
My money is on Jenova winning tbh (though that really depends if people hate ND winning 3 times in a row more than they hate Jenova)
ND will find it hard when the entire universe looks at them as the biggest threat to win the round.
CT will have to do some recruitment if they want to win. ToF should be returning as an alliance next round so it's more than likely that the ToF bg that was in CT this round will all go back to ToF.
With Urwins gone they might have a good place to get good players from though.
I predict an open round with 3-4 allies that have a shot at #1.

It seemed to me most ppl I talked too really didnt want ND to win R25, it didnt mean there was any concerted effort to stop them.
Maybe feeling will run higher when its a third time, but an alliance has to win every time, if its close then those with a shot of winning are unlikely to co-operate with each other.

Re: Round 26 Predictions?
Probably ND. Unless a fresh batch of players take interest in the game again. urwins seemed to be decent. Ascendancy. Afther that is a toss up between who is interested.
