Back to Europe
I've had enough of Alabama, and I'm moving back to Germany in about 6 weeks. Perhaps this time I will make it over to England. The last time I looked into vacation in England, Scotland and Ireland, the hotels were too expensive. This time I will have more money though.

Re: Back to Europe
Ireland is disgracefully expensive. It's a fantastic city to live in though. How long do you intend on staying abroad for?

Re: Back to Europe
I'm not sure about the GD meet. I'm probably quite a bit older than most of the GDers.
I know Ireland is small, but I think it calssifies as a bit larger than a city.
It looks like I will be in Germany three to five years this time.

I wouldn't like to think about what living outside Dublin involves.

Are you aware there's a semi-decent ambient band called 'The Dead Texan'?

Re: Back to Europe
Just turn up in a town and look for a cheap hotel. If you want to come to England then just go to Morecambe or some such place and commute. They'll be grateful for the custom.

Also, why were you living in Alabamy? Normal people shouldn't live there.

I once stayed in a cottage with my family in cork and I swear to god I didn't understand a single word the farmer renting us the place said in the whole two weeks.

My job in Belgium ended, and I was hired here in Huntsville. Huntsville is not too bad. It's the home of the U.S. rocket program. Lots of people from NATO countries live here.
I wish I could have found a job in Heidelberg, but I will be about an hour north of there in Hanau near Frankfurt.

When I go on vacation, I like to stay at nice hotels. Nice hotels in Spain cost about half as much as nice hotels in England.

I don't have any money and I'm not notable. So there's no reason for me to go.

I've never found it particularly hard to understand. It's a softer accent than what you'd find up north for instance. Then there are some bog-land middle of the country accents which are just unfathomable.
The most irritating of them all, I find, is still the Dublin accent.
