Re: [Football] Ball d'Or (European Footballer of the Year)
All the best players in the world play in the European continent.
You'd hardly find some playing outside of Europe being mentioned in the shortlist.

Given that most Argentinian and Brazilian fooltball clubs, let alone other country's in that region, are in financial dire straits, and that they HAVE to sell for all intents and purposes, then watching SA football isn't really necessary.
You may miss out on the early years of someone like Carlos Tevez, but they'll move to Europe soon enough.

because, right enough, scoring 25 goals is infinitely more skillful than scoring fifteen and setting up fifty.

But I'd give it to Gerrard over Lampard this year though.
I hope he wins the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

Lampard has been a model of consistency, whereas Gerrard has just phased out of a lot of games.

True but I don't think Lampard would be able to turn a mediocre team into European champions. Obviously Liverpool (you could say) won the tournament through luck but he does drag his team to win matches.
Only Gerrard was able to show that last season. Whereas Lampard, he's surrounded by 10 other top quality players and outshines them.

true, but Gerrard won the CL-final almost singlehanded. i don't think many players ever played a final like he did. for that achievement only i'd nominate him tbh, without looking to the rest of the season where other players may have performed way better (Lampard, Deco, Kaka etc).

Recently I've seen the madrid game, the santander game, the osasuna game, the sociedad game and the werder bremen game. I also saw most of the panathainakos game at the nou camp, the whole of the depor game earlier this year and the valencia game. Barcelona are the one football team I literally go out of my way to watch. Kindly **** off back to watching az alkamaar please.
