"random" number
Hey kids!
We all make up numbers in conversation. Has anyone else found they commonly use the same number? Mine tends to start with "86". What's yours?

Re: "random" number
My random number generation code is better than yours.
No, really... I usually use different ones that come up totally from nowhere.

Re: "random" number
i tend to add 'thousand' or 'billion' to the end of my made up numbers.
for example
'omg i had to do 16 thousand dishes last night!' real number would be roughly 16

Re: "random" number
i tend not to use numbers in conversation
If i need to emphasise in such a way I usually rely on the expresion
"more/better/less/fewer/greater/taller (etc.) than Jesus"
this is also the only time I use the word Jesus in conversation. at all other times I refer to him as Joshua bar Joseph.
these two idiosyncracies combine to ensure that at all times i am likely to offend any evangelical christian who may be listening.

Things that end in 7, varying with roughly what I think a half decent suggestion would be.

What stew said.
I generally go for odd numbers.
Twelvety and Eleventeen are also going to be used now thanks to this thread.

Re: "random" number
I don`t really talk about numbers much in conversation, unless it`s about the price of beer. I often see numbers around; 222 is/has been occuring for many years now for some sort of "spooky" reason??! Often at work I see the number 666 on the pH meter. OMG. I guess I`m just being paranoid.

excellent, but when saying it out loud make sure you say 'than jesus' last for maximum shock value.

Re: "random" number
I often use twelve (with a thousand or million stuck on the end if necesssary) in conversation.
PS 37 is used because it seems more random as it's a prime number and the digits are as averagely spaced as you can manage.

Re: "random" number
I use 8. Even because everyone always picks an odd number. Low, because people tend to pick high.
