I can think of a video that will likely be quite scary, but it's not on official release!

Re: calling all horror fans
Dean Koontz wrote phantoms...just about anything by him is good.
Clive Barker is considered one of the great masters of horror.
Brian Lumley is supposed to be scary but I've never read him.
As for movies, it really depends on what you mean by horror. "The Others" was fairly edge of your seat, but no gore or such. not a huge fan of gorey movies personally.

I don't watch a lot of movies and even fewer Horror flicks but I quite 'enjoyed' watching Frailty.

Re: calling all horror fans
The problem with Shaun Hutson is that he is really really shit.
Joe Donnelly looked like he was going to be good but it turns out all his books are really really samey. Still, I'd recommend "The Shee", and to a lesser extent "Bane".
James Herbert's "Others" is a very well-written novel but I have to warn you it has a very disturbing plot towards the end. Horrors piled on horrors.
For films, they're a little cheesy but the Hellraiser movies IV-VI are pretty good. I haven't seen "Deader" or "Hellworld" yet (VII & VIII) so I don't know about those.

I really thought "The Ring" was a very good film. Though no doubt it will be slammed on here for "hollywood cheesyness"

Re: calling all horror fans
I haven't bothered to see the remake; I can't see it being as good as Ringu, never mind better.
Just like "The Stepford Wives" is going to be dire compared to the original. You can't re-make a chiller as a comedy, damn it! Argh.

That's exactly why his books are shit (i take it you did it deliberately).
Imagine you are the most powerful person in the world.
Imagine your aunt keeps on telling you to "behave" (like all the time) and you do (no rebellion at all).
Imagine really daft coincidencies.
Now you have thought of an Eddings book :((((((((((((((((
