so i was like deleting all my old bookmark and well i saw this in there, so i clicked it half expecting it to be dead, its not.

i'm quite shocked and the game is still going too, most shocking, is it any good or still crap

EDIT fix the title now

Really? That quite surprises me. I hear the game is pretty good these days actually. They just started a new round, the fifteenth (seventeenth actually) of the variety.

maybe we are finally at the point where only people who *enjoy* playing it do so. To throw some numbers in of the current round around 2500 planets signed up and 1300 of those paid.

just enough to keep it playable these days - rounds are compared to earlier a lot shorter and only 8 or 9 weeks long.

It's 10 pounds (or euro not sure) for 3 credits so you can play for three full rounds.

People are still taking the game way too serious and galaxy mates get upset at one another for dumb reasons and there's always that one other planet out there that you start some kind of self destructive conflict with that only ends up destroying both you and everyone else involved.

Other than that it's the same old sit in alliance channel and launch when told to launch.

You went from being in x11x in round 4 (alsthough you were the 'nice' x11x who allied with my gal) to the same gal as me in round 5.

that's usually good for 20 minutes until all the people who say Round 5 finally triumph over those who say all the other rounds.

Beta Round = late 1999 / early 2000
Round 1 = early 2000
Largest planetbase (arguable whether multis meant it was the largest planetbase or not, but 180,000 planets regardless), = Round 4

I had thought P2P was round 4, but alas after consulting my records it was indeed round 5.. which means that I actually dropped out after round 5 not 4 like I had thought because I did play one P2P round when they had a local pay centre, which for reasons unknown they dropped in round 6.

Mid round 4 however they did open up avenues for donating money towards the game.

Now some trivia of my own.. when was the first ever reset?

What was the news portal originally named and what did it stand for? What other well known site at the time did it replace and who ran that site?
