[Football]Champions League Final
Quite an interesting start, im hoping the game will remain fairly offensive and interesting.
My boring prediction, Barcelona will win.

Re: [Football]Champions League Final
Well that was quite comic
lehman and eto one on one
lehman brings eto down on the edge of the box
some barcelona player gets the ball and scores
referee says no goal
sends lehman off
freekick
ronaldinho misses ;/

Re: [Football]Champions League Final
Its all set for a Barcelona win. That decision was dubious, id have given the goal, booked the keeper, and kept the game going.
But im not the useless prick in charge of this match.

It was right. Refs are told to give the free kick, because 19 times out of 20 it will be the right decision and refereeing's all about playing the numbers.
Having said that, for the rest of the time he's been abysmal.
Interestingly enough, Barca scored after a certain commentator on ITV said "The clock is ticking faster now, the end is in sight."
Now, I'm not usually a man to hold with such things, but boy does that always turn things to shit.

I screamed JINX!!!!!!! at the TV as he said it. Ten seconds later the ball was in the back of the Arsenal net.
To summarise:
I'm an Arsenal fan.
Lehmann deserved to be sent off for the professional foul, but I was still glad he did it.
Eboue took a fair bit of air to get the free kick which Campbell scored from, but I'm not complaining when it helps us.
I called bringing on Larsson as the turning point in the game, and he was. Ronaldinho/Eto'o had been superb but weren't putting the ball in the net. Larsson set up both goals. Case closed.
The referee was dire and hurt Arsenal more than Barcelona, but there's little point moaning about it now. Henry getting kicked all over the place may well mean that he doesn't go to Barca, and that means almost as much as this final did.

Re: [Football]Champions League Final
I feel bad for arsenal. For some reason I knew lehmann would cost them badly. He's that sort of guy who when he's playing well just means when his next ****up comes it's going to be monumental. I'm glad the greatest footballing side on the face of the planet won the champions league though. They haven't played their best football for the past month or so but they've been magic at times this season. Hopefully henry will go to barca and we'll get to see even better football next year.

Re: [Football]Champions League Final
Even though Arsenal have an amazing record in europe this season at keeping clean sheets, i doubt even they can keep barca out for another 45 mins.
What a save from Almunia though.

did he comment on the need to deport non-engrish players??
i also found henry's comments amusing, this wasn't a completely one sided match, arsenal and henry did have the chance to finish the game off, they didn't take them *shrug*

Re: [Football]Champions League Final
I woke up this morning feeling sad. I realised Arsenal did not win the CL.
I'm a bit slow sometimes with emotions/feelings.
I'm not going to bitch about anything. It was a fair game and the ref was good to weed out the divers (Deco namely and yes I know he missed Eboue's dive).
It's just a big shame that's all.
Oh and to the person who neg-repped me anonymously, rot in hell with aids you pussy.

Uh oh, turns out henrik larsson is ****ing fantastic. Still, he'd never make it in england, thats why he stayed at celtic, amirite the english media?
Players that deserve a champions league medal part 1.
Btw, you english lot should look on the bright side; ronaldinho was guff, and Arsenal had previously snuffed out carlos/ronaldo/cicinho/robinho without so much as a whimper. Brazil dont seem to be as wankaholic as they are portrayed as being.

no, but it was a huge, huge game, and he choked.
Also, when bobo balde and john kennedy manage to ruin your shit for 180 minutes, there are definite flaws.
You could see by the end of the game he was getting more and more frustrated, shooting when he shouldnt have, not passing early enough etc

You think so? On the other hand it must be gutting to lose one of the most important games of your career in which the referee was AT BEST incompetent.
It should be borne in mind that this was also the main in charge of the Barca - Chelsea game in which Del Horno was sent off.

oh come on. What exactly did he do so wrong? Sending Lehmann off were correct. He could have let him stay on the field, but it was his decision and either would be correct. Not seeing the acting pre-goal was wrong, but what can I say, he didn't see he was acting. So in reality, the only ones who earned on ref-mistakes were Arsenal.

Actually, according to the FIFA guidelines to the LOAF, you should caution and give the goal or send off and not give the goal.

"Chopping down" is a bit of a laffo misrepresentation. Lehmann went for the ball, Eto'o took it past him and tripped over Lehmann's hand which was reaching for the ball. It's not like Tony Adams came up and gave him two boots in the back of the thighs.

err, you misunderstood me? That's what I said
Also remember how fast things happened in that incident. The ref couldn't wait and see if he missed on the goal and then blow the whistle. That's quoted from a UEFA guy who backed him up.

Re: [Football]Champions League Final
The desicion to send of Lehman was correct, no doubt about it. But the referee could have let it go, barca would have gotten a goal and lehman would have stayed on with a yellow. Seeing as it was 70minutes left, Im not sure Arsenal would have gotten worse off in the end. Playing with 10 for that long against such a good team as barca isnt really a good situation to be in.
If Henry could have scored on atleast one of the times he was 1 on 1 with the barca goalie, we could have brought it home.
Barca's first was offside and they should have had 2 more yellow cards.
All in all, barca was a bit sharper up front than Arsenal, so

I could always make the same statements as Jose Mourinho.

It is bad enough to play with 10 men against 11 when it happens against a small side and there are not many minutes left, but against a team like Barcelona and for almost an hour it is asking too much.

Same ref. Pretty poor.
