help...somebody..please?
I know this should be posted in the other forum.
I know that i should ask in #linux.
BUT IT DONT WORK! (Neither the forum, nor irc!)
ATM, the only thing on my computer that works is Windows Task Manager, Controll Panel, Winamp and some pages on the internett, a FTP program and BitTorrent (The only problem whit the two last ones is that it gives a peak speed of 1/kbs a second, NO MATTER WHAT. This is kinda strange, as im used to getting at least 50 kb/s a second on SLOW days.  )
Everything takes 2-3 minutes to load, some more, some less.
If i try to uninstall anything, the program wont respond.
If i try to open anything, most of the time, it dont appear, else it takes a ****load of time and after 4 seconds of working, i get "program not responding".
Well. There are a lot of other problems too. I've not yet discovered the full extent of this.
MUST I THROW MY PC OUT OF THE WINDOW? Or is there some sort of thing i can do?
please...help?
(Oh, and i just found out, when i press a smiley instead of typing it, it stops for a few seconds, and afterwards, the bannana dont dance and the bunny dont jump... )

what system specs do you have?
When did it start going wonky?
And did you download anything just before that?

menth0l: I have a virus scanner. Somehow, i think thats part of the problem. (Oh, i have two virus programs, since i just tried installing the whole norton package, but it did not help, i think?)
Also, i dont have any OS cd's handy..that means a week of non-pcing maybe

ie. ones that are unnecessary/suspicious

I can't give you the exact specs, since i cant open "properties".
It started a while ago, but i was "blind" to it. Installed some programs, run a few checks, removed a few problems. So, i would guess i found the first traces a few weeks ago, but yesterday, it was blown all out of porportion. (That was when my pc became almost unusuable)
Yeah...the three days before, maybe 30 mp3's and 40 avi files... (Just a wild guess)

I've got the entire Norton anti virus kitcrappacket, it costs ****loads if you have to buy it in the shops which I luckily didnt. Some while ago I had some crap virus which this 'ace' Norton**** couldnt solve. Then I downloaded some trial AV from some unknown compagny (to me that is) and my problem was solved.
I would like to abuse some Norton employees with a massive iron dildo, seriously.

a similar thing happened to me. a virus seemingly attacked the Norton AV and made it unusable, also making it impossible to a) uninstall b) re-install.
haven't used norton since.

I had a virus on one of the PCs downstairs last week, someone probably opened some stupid attachment or something. It had the details of the virus on the Norton site and gave a way to solve it... it said alternatively i could invest in Norton which would do it automatically... I've already got Norton Pro 2003, so thats just bollocks.... Norton =

Same happened to me.
Had to reinstall OS.
You can download the ISO if you bought the OS anyway.
I managed it on my coal fueled modem.

Finally got the AVG thing downloaded, installing it now!
Well, as luck has it, i can (probably) get hold of a OS cd tomorrow, so im probably safe anyways, exept that i lose almost everything, i think! Hmm, due to "tecnichal problems", i cant download the ISO file, sadly.
GAP, go poke a few power lines, will you?
And yes, hopefully the videos (Of course, none are porn) will be safe. HOPEFULLY, that is.

Not yet. It has scanned 6.5 gigs, so its only 65 left
But it uses long time, so its either very good, or installs virus in all the files it "scan".

Kinda, but its much better.
Don't ask me why, but it has something to do whit that AVG program. I ran the test, and it said i had no viruses, like nothing to fix. But after i ran the test, my computer worked much better, so i managed to uninstall a few bad apps, games and stupid things, delete a lot and generaly do a "house cleaning". So now everything works, or at least, it seems like everything works, exept my net, its still slow as hell, but i found out that that is my connection and not my computer.
