i'm buying a house!
Its already cost me £380 quid, and thats just for the surveyor fees so i can get the mortgage released
£66000 for a three bedroom mid terraced house, with all of the white electrical goods thrown in \o/
its going to cost me another £250 for the solicitor - which you may think is not a lot, but thats just what we are paying, our lender has actually said that they will pay our legal costs (with certain exceptions - hence the £250 up front) so god only knows what the final bill will be - cos i certainly dont want to!
hehehehehehe

By living in a semi-rural part of the North East in which no sane person wants to live, I would imagine.

Re: i'm buying a house!
I may be having a housewarming - depends if i can convince the wife
and yes, 66k for a house is because i'm living in the semi rural north east, although semi detached houses were still well out of my price range (starting at about 100 to 120k for a semi round here)

you say you don't care about the mortgage now, you try it when the economy collapses in 10 years and you lose your job and you can't afford the repayments and then you consolidate all your existing debts into one easy to deal with payment and then cecily spends five hundred pounds on a hat because you've been keeping the money problems from her and that means you can't make the payment and the evil loan company take your house and all you have left is your phone which you use to post on here and the post is: " "

Re: i'm buying a house!
The economy won't collapse in ten years, it'll collapse in five, and then there'll be rioting in the streets because by that point the true extent of the CJD infection will be apparent. (The government actually has plans to deal with this, I know because I spoke to someone I know who knows a senior civil servant.)

If he think's it's going to take up to 10 years for the economy to collapse, then yes, yes he is.

If the economy collapses, who really cares about mortgage repayments?
Just go bankrupt, you won't actually be in a worse position than if you were a private renter with no job either.
Congrats anyway RR. You mature bastard.

There are cheeses that are more mature than RR. Just because he's got a wife and a house and a mortgage and a job and nearly a child, don't let all that fool you.
Actually, yeah, he is pretty mature. This sucks. I'm going to a pub to drink until my liver goes purple. Screw you guys.

Re: i'm buying a house!
Dont suppose you have any links to the house details? I'm nosy. I noticed you put a little comment about this in another thread on Friday and it led to me spending half the day looking at houses round here again (as if I could afford one of those - to find something acceptable I would need about £150k here, absolute minimum!). I just want my own house, and spend lots of time torturing myself looking at what I cant afford.
And yes, youre clearly getting old. House, wife, baby....its all downhill from here.

Re: i'm buying a house!
I just got stopped on my way back from the pub by a Newcastle Chronicle reporter who wanted to ask me about climate change.
"You say Newcastle might subside in 200 years? Oh, who gives a shit, really? I mean, I probably won't be around in thirty years or so, so it's not going to effect me, and I'm not having any children either, so you can knock that one on the head as well. Personally, I think it's a good thing. Who cares if other people's great grandchildren have no oxygen to breathe? **** 'em."
It's going to be in the paper tommorow. Christ knows what they'll actually print.

Re: i'm buying a house!
we managed to get this one on the basis of 20k, which is our combined incomes, and were held back by our lack of a deposit (if you have even 5% of the price, loads of people want to know you) and also held back by my truly atrocious credit history.
the house im buying is this:
EDITED as the link didn't work, you need to go to this page and search for 3 bedroom houses in bishop auckland for between 67000 and 70000 and it should be the only house that comes up
and what they dont tell you is that the kitchen and bathroom are brand new as is the double glazing and the combi boiler \o/
for those of you who visited last summer: it's about a mile away from my old house

Oooo, looks nice. Very bright, which can be an achievement in those kinds of terrace. I found that one on another property search site and wondered if that was it, before you posted the new improved info there. Is it the same style as the one we had in Durham?
So now theres housewarming gifts as well as the new baby ones to find! Hope it all goes through OK. When are you hoping to move?

why is your house the only one without 2 upstairs windows?
where has the other window gone?
huh?? huh???
these are the questions that lead us to ask for a full structural survey in addition to the one carried out by the mortgage company.
just call me 'Mr Property'

Re: i'm buying a house!
On an aside if i wanted to buy a 2 bedroom flat in an "ok" area of Glasgow (ie Tenement but a poorer area but still "ok" ... just) i'd be paying 80K min.
I only mention this because i was thinking about trying to buy myself about a month ago.
The prospect of how much i'd need to save and the fact i couldnt afford it for 2 years kinda upset me :(

I'm more impressed with the fact that the stairs in the hall are "rising to first floor".
