Where's Hicks in the top?

Re: Top 100 names and (more importantly) alliances
As for races, a quick count and I got 65% of top 100 being Xan, 26% being Terr, 7% being Zik, and 2% being cat.
Doing % of T100/% (Eg. The closer to '1', the more balanced the race appears to be.) of top players we get:
Xan - 2.5
Ter - 0.62
Zik - 0.39
Cat - 0.15
Surely something needs to be done for next round? I know that there are many factors to consider, but it would be cool to see a better balance. With so few big cats/ziks, teh xans had a far easier time of it which can only be worse for the game :/

On a serious note. Is anyone able to tell me which galaxy was highest ranked without any 1up'ers in it?

think it was 5:10 in 15th - hats off to them cos we found it bloody hard, so they must be a pretty solid bunch.
then it's mine (5:1) in 18th

They are good anough to roid with, although its virtually impossible to roid top players I suppose (eta 10 (well 9) really makes it hard). The problem is how heavy targeted they are by the rest of the uni, gotta somehow make them less tasty targets ::/

Sid and I had a long discussion about being cath and he certainly didn't push me towards being xan as we both agreed there were pros and cons for cath. Either way, I seem to have done half decently as a cath and as you can tell, my gal wasn't exactly top 10 material. My only complaint was the fact it was 100% impossible for caths to roid terrans but as I seem to have picked up the best part of 9000 roids this round it seems there were a few more xan heavy bunches than 1up.

Jester,
Nadar is quite correct and it has always been either NoS or NOS in it's proper form. In lazy conversation it is common to be refered to as simply nos. Personally, I don't give a hoot how virus wrote their name as it has no relevance to us.
Just because you may have written it incorrectly whilst a member, doesn't make it correct.
Should you require it, I still have my round 4 galaxy banner on the server as proof.
So ends today's trivia lesson.

going on my own experience as cath, i thought it was a decent race, its roiding potential was great, especially as anti cr was minimal mid way through the rnd, when I put my mind to it, roiding with them was relatively easy, especially hornet/viper combo which worked nicely, Ziks, xans and caths were the preferred choice, with xans being quite vunlerable thank god, the terrans were a tough cookie to crack though, tbh I think it was a good race and was welcome for defence.

Always, eh?
Anyway, it was meant to be tongue in cheek. I've always felt that the nos I was in was taken over by a bunch of kids* after the whole lux** thing. This probably isn't true, but it's the impression I have, and it's the impression I like to play on.
It was a reference to the discussion we had about just this matter in round 4, and as an alliance we ended up settling on NoS because more people wanted that. I think that's fine, but I still prefer nos and enjoy poking fun at all the new people because of it. It's not meant as an insult, more as a friendly ribbing over something we have in common.
It's also to do with a larger matter, I guess. I generally find the more obnoxious tags (like LCH's) to be signs that an alliance wants people to notice them. The more toned down, classical tags are more subtle badges that dare people to test the might behind them. At least that's how I read it.
As for ViruS, CapS was all the rage in round 4. I think it Legion (VtS) that started it (not Virus as I originally stated). Notice that in VtS it actually makes sense. The preposition is lowercased as in normal titling practice (Purple Worm of Doom, Citadel of Despair etc), but in nos it makes no sense because the o is a proper noun (order). Which is another reason I argued for equal capitalization. NOS would've looked pretty dumb though.
And yes, NoS was probably throughout round 4, by many members (including HC). It is without a doubt the legitimate, official tag of round 4. Hell, even my gal used NoS rather than nos.
* I mean aside from you. I know there are probably a good deal of mature, sensible people in nos. I'm sure they represent the community much better than the people I've been exposed to, but let's face it, you've had a few shitty kid board spammers to ruin your reputation***
** Haha, lux was crap.
*** And hey, let's face it. I was a shitty kid board spammer before they were even in nos!

Re: Top 100 names and (more importantly) alliances
hehe 5:1 with 4 ND 2 Fang, and 2 LCH, and 1 NoS and 1 VsN
with that combo it was amazing we didn't get smashed out of the top 15 a lot sooner than we did. We were top 15 right up til about a week or ten days (roughly) before the end of the round. Anyone from my gal reading this - well done especially the Fangers who had to deal with an alliance falling apart around them!

Re: Top 100 names and (more importantly) alliances
tbh, NoS was just more pleasing to the eye than nos.
r3, we never even expected to have any gals in top 100 to care what the tag was. The only banner images had the original graphic that we still use and has it as NOS.
I agree with you 200% regarding lux.

Re: Top 100 names and (more importantly) alliances
Every galaxy in cluster 5 had an easy ride, no matter who they were, even the pure newbie galaxies. Im guessing as we were the top cluster from the start people tended to steer clear of us incase of in cluster defence. No idea why lateron, but gals in c5 very rarely had incomming most of the round. Due to the smaller amount of incs, we were all bigger than we might of been otherwise, so i guess that helped lateron aswell.

sorry zoof. typical overreacting. to be honest i think you might be right
i did often push for a proper c5 alliance for that very reason, but we never got one. seems the rest of the universe never noticed - i do wonder if the fact that i was oftern defending ND members elsewhere in c5 helped with that; and other people doing similar things
you are right i guess. i think we did have it a little bit easier than i expected most of the time. wouldnt call it easy though. with no 1up in our gal it was a constant battle just to keep everyone from quitting!

no it didnt, nub. Just because the roids paid off the value you lost for em, doesn`t mean they were worth it, in profit, as you wouldve been bigger at the end if you hadnt lost value and just kept growing instead of losing value THEN taking time to regain value THEN needing MORE time for it to be worth it in terms of extrapolatory comparison.
