/ooc: Roxborough isn't wearing heavy armour, she's wearing standard armour and carrying the weapons by sheer force of muscles. And since you haven't specified weight and appearance for the chaingun or flamethrower, I'm assuming they resemble their modern day cousins and not tank mounted cannons.
And thinking about it, I've come to realise that she can't carry 5 extra boxes of links to the chaingun: She doesn't even have space on her body to make room for them. 1 box will have to be enough. /ooc

Roxborough kneels down at the intersection and waits. Looking around, it teh coats seems to be clear, and the explosion is taking its time, so she pulls out her flashlight from its holder at her gelt. It takes about a minute, but soon she has it attached to the barrel of the chaingun, providing proper illumination where she's aiming from now on.

She clears her throat annoyedly as she looks to the others. What about that explosion?

*Cid picks Slick and and hands him to Gokan.*

Carry him, we need to get to the Airlocks NOW!

*Cid ran point for the others to follow, making sure they were following before disappearing. He passed the corridor he had cleared previously, only to find that, as he circled a corner, a fireball hits his chest and forces him backwards into the wall behind.*

Thats it, now I'm pissed off!

*It was then Cid heard the rumbling growl and the heavy footsteps that were appearing behind the Imps. It was pink, it was large and it stood on two legs. What was most noticable about this new demon was that it's mouth was very big.*

Holy...

*Cid picked himself up quickly, rose his pistol and turned to the others.*

Gokan! I need an extra gun here!

*With that, Cid began to fire his weak pistol as the imp, aiming mostly for the head.*

Re: Doom

Slick opens his eyes and sees the monster, dazed and confused he picks up his shotgun, hoping to get a few shells in the monsters chest. He points towards the monster, aiming as best he can, and fires as best he can.

As the shells fire, the recoil flings his gun above his head and he just manages to grab it before it flies into the background.

Re: Doom

*Flapjack let a short curse off as he turned his flashlight on, temporarily blinding the now slightly irritated doctor*

"Sorry about that, let me get my portable generator in place."

*With that, Flapjack turned back to the maintenance shaft where he came from and the portable generator that he had dragged with him all the way to the medbay. A few moments later Flapjack was standing at 1 of the fuseboxes, popping the fuses to isolate the medbay and then hooking the portable generator up like he had done before in the barracks*

*Thinking of the barracks, Flapjack pulled his own PDA out and checked the time, the generator in the barracks only had about an hour of power left and Flapjack really hoped someone would have the brains to hook up a new 1 before it ran dry completely*

Re: Doom

As the armory explodes, Duke is cast backwards along the ground and slides out into the middle of the intersection. After coming to a full and complete stop, he looks over to his right and sees a herd of zombies being lead by three Imps. He also notices the Imps hurling fireballs at his person. Duke puts his palms on the ground above his shoulders and flips himself onto his feet. Then he is rudely reminded of the pain that his left shoulder was in. Now with an effectivly useless left arm, Duke ducks around the corner, just in time to avoid being fried. He peers aroudn the corner again and readies his shotgun. Waiting for the Imps to coem to close range he listens to the increase volume of the hissing from the Imps. Deciding that hes waited long enough, Duke turns the corner to face an Imp who is a mere foot away from him. The Imp hisses in anger or delight, Duke isnt sure which, and then said Imp proceedes to scrath Dukes chest.

With a three new tears in his suit and flesh, Duke is now pissed. He hisses back at the Imp, which confuses it for a split second, then he bashes in across the face with his shotgun. The Imps head snaps back alittle and drops of blood hit the wall next to him. He turns his head back slowly and hisses again, this time definetly in anger and rage. The Imp turns around to see Duke's shotgun lined up with its face and Duke pulls the trigger. The Imps head explodes and the impact from the close range shotgun blast blow both Duke and the Imp onto their backs, althought the Imp is dead and Duke is stunned.

Geting back to his feet and ignoring the two other Imps, Duke reaches into his medical bag and picks out a grenade. Looking back and forth between the zombies and the grenade, Duke smiles cruely. He pulls the pin and throws the grenade into the crowd of zombies who watch the shiny little ball go skiddering by them. The Imps turn and look back at the zombies, then turn to look forward again in time to see Duke jumping back behind the corner yelling "FIRE IN THE HOLE!"

Instantly realizign that that was the way he had to go and probably not the best idea in the world, Duke braces as the explosion rips apart an known number of zombies. Duke peeks his head around the corner to check the building structure and finds a lot of smoke, orange ash, a little fire and some cracking, but nothing overly life threatening. Duke also notices at least four zombies were blown up and one i currently on fire. He ducks yet again around the corner and reloads his shotgun and tends to his shoulder.

Re: Doom

Gokan suddenly landed with the weight of an injured, yet surprisingly gung-ho, Slick, is flattened against a wall. He pushes back and notices that slick appears to be carrying a trio of grenades, he quietly helps himself to an explosive one, while drawing a pistol with his other hand, sets the timer for 4 seconds, fires off a few half-aimed shots at the approaching monstrocity and throws the grenade at the clustered imps.

"GRENADE!! Get down!"

The grenade goes off at the feet of one of the imps, who is immediately shredded by the shrapnel, other imps go flying down the corridor as the concussive force throws them around like rag-dolls. Acrid smoke fills the corridor.

"NOW RUN!!"

Gokan runs, half-dragging Slick after him, headed for the airlock, glancing back and firing a wild shot at the pink demon-thing, still bounding after them...

[ooc]Sorry for stealing the grenade. Just seemed like an ideal time to have some grenades [/ooc]

Re: Doom

Do Specialist Marines know about appendixes? Fluffie asks the Mr Dachi person anyhow, while yelling at the pilot to go and pick up those survivors. He is supposed to contact them on frequencies 3 and 5. Besides that, he sits down in a chair as the Marine hopefully examines him, while he's kind of assuming that after looting, the other other Marine is doing the "turret thing".

Fluffie first wants his appendix looked at though

</shit ass OH MY GOD FLUFFIE HAS TEST WEEK post>

Edit:
Fluffie starts hitting his appendix with his fists. Real hard. To show it who's boss.

Re: Doom

Grave does what he thinks best and hangs on for grim death as the plasma spitting flying lumps, his best description yet, attack the ship time after time. As the ship levels out, he does however empty the supply cabinet into his bag, [insert list of guns, after checking dm] and does the bag up. Throwing it over his shoulder, he clambers straight for the turrets.

Clambering into the turret itself, he puts his bag next to the seat before strapping himself in. Placing his hands on the controls, he thinks back to the academy. Stopping, he curses.
"I hate moving targets!"
Activating the gun, he swivels it to face the mass of enemies, and begins firing. A target flashes across his screen and he guns into it, high calibre rounds penetrating and tearing the body asunder, only to watch it disolve into nothing before dropping ten feet. Disconcerting, but ok, he decides before pulling the trigger and firing another burst into the masses....
"Shit! So many of the buggers!"
Screaming down toward the cockpit:
"Get us the hell out of here!"

Re: Doom

"Get us the h*ll out of here!!" One of the Marines called down into the cockpit, as Arlan once again threw the shuttle down and to the left, sending the zombie tumbling into the side of the cockpit. "What do you think I'm trying to do!!" Arlan shouted back, leveling the shuttle off and dumping the zombie back onto the floor again. "And you, stay dead!!" Arlan told the zombie, already crawling towards himself relentlessly again. Unfortunately, Arlan was out of room to maneuver, as he was approaching the airlocks. As such, he now had to hold the shuttle's course steady, and simply hope that the Marines were able to get rid of any nearby Blobs of Sh*t, and that he would figure out some other way to get rid of the zombie. Speaking of which . . .

As Arlan turned to check on the zombie's progress across the floor, he was surprised to see the zombie flinging itself across the floor, slidding to a stop at his feet. With a low growl, the zombie grasped ahold of Arlan's chair, hoisting itself up in an attempt to reach his neck, and strangle him to death.

"B*stard!" Arlan spat, taking his head momentarily away from the controls to deal with this pest once and for all. Unsure of how to disable a zombie, Arlan went with his first thought, which was to deliver a quick, hard jab to the zombie's face. The blow snapped the undead pilot's head back with a sickeningly crunch, but it hardly slowed the creature down at all. With a moan, the zombie pulled itself up further, laying a hand on Arlan's left shoulder, clamping down like a vice. Arlan winced, and then with a howl, reached his hand down and grabbed a fistful of the pilot's filthy hair. With a firm grip on the zombie's head, Arlan began to slam it against the edge of the control panel. The zombie's head turned to mush only after a blow or two, and with what was left of its brain destroyed, the zombie burned away into ash.

"Ew" Arlan said, wiping his hand off on the underside of the control panel, and dusting off his suit where the ash had fallen onto it. He then returned his attention to docking at the airlock, and prayed that the Marines they were supposed to pick up were already there.

No Dachi is infamous around these parts
Re: Doom

No Dachi pulled himself unsteadily to his feet and staggered with equally unsure footing over to the nearest chair, slumping into it gladly. He felt sick and he could feel wetness around his upper lip - his nose was bleeding again. That happened a fair bit on the ship to Mars. One of the doctors aboard the transport had told him it was because the air coming out of the ship's recycler was slightly thinner than that found on most of Earth, and so had brought on a kind of artifical altitude sickness - which, for No Dachi, meant nosebleeds. Luckily, habitual nasal bleeding had encouraged him to prepare for such occurences, and reaching into one pouch of his combat webbing he produced a packet of tissues - double-layered, extra-soft. Moments later and he was staunching the flow. How the Hell he was still getting nosebleeds when he was 21 and supposedly a mean-green-killing-Marine, No Dachi just did not know. Sitting in the chair, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was forgetting something rather important. He still had his machine gun ... his flashlight... his security PDA ... his spare ammunition clips ... his special nosebleed tissues. All there, certainly. Someone was yelling something about appendixes but No Dachi couldn't quite hear him, and it was a damned stupied thing to be yelling about anyway, here on Mars. Suddenly, a series of images flashed through the Marine's mind's eye in rapid succession. Somehow passing through the floor of the base, seeing Marines fighting with some kind of hellish-looking monsters, seeing something wrapped in shadow and-

Suddenly, No Dachi was very much awake. His nosebleed had stopped. Taking the red-sodden tissue away, he tossed it over his shoulder and onto the floor behind. By the way this dropship was bucking abouit they'd all be dead pretty soon anyway. That was probably a cause for concern of some kind, but No Dachi decided there probably wasn't much he could do about it, and just tightened his grip on the armrests a little while trying to puzzle out his earlier vision. What had that shadowy apparition been? Had he experienced some kind of telepathic viewing? Did that make him a psycher or something? He'd read the news articles, and psychers were usually portrayed as the glorious product of continuing human evolution or dangerous freaks who would destroy mankind utterly with powers beyond the realm of science. No Dachi tried to figure out which one he was as the dropship continued its merry way through the sky.

Re: Doom

A large blob slams into the plasti-glass window, and it shakes, violently. Spinning the turret, he shoots at the approaching mass to his left, before batting the closer thing again. Fumbling in his bag, he loads up the shotgun and prepares to shoot it if it tries to get in. As the ship nears the airlock, he loads the plasma rifle, and slides down to the main ship hold, waiting for the ship to dock...

Re: Doom

Richard blinks and tries to clear his ears of their deep resounding buzz by yawning a couple of times. It doesn’t work too well, leaving him with just a distinct ringing sound that his subconscious proceeds to interpret into random segments of songs. He stands up to the slightly garbled chorus of Layla and hits the side of his helmet with one gauntleted fist. Finally convinced it’s not going to get any better for the moment he turns to the rest of the squad.

“Everyone ok?” he asks, slightly redundantly, since they are all on their feet, or close to it. Then he looks around at the rapidly disintegrating boundary between them and the outside world. Ignoring the fact that he didn’t hear any of the answers, Richard hurriedly slings his rifle over his shoulder and clips his recently acquired shotgun into a holder on his left thigh; preparing to move away from this rather untenable position.

At that moment the squad’s collection of comm units joins in with the gradually lessening medley performance in his inner ear. He only just manages to make out Kelly’s voice over the combined static and ringing, but the few words that can be made out make him smile despite their dire meaning.

“Explosion eh?” he mutters to himself. “I think I saw one of those around here somewhere.”

Rather too many seconds later the words “breach” and “evacuate” seep through his addled brain and start adding alarm bells to the combination of ringings in his head.

“I think that means this might be a good time to get out of here.” Richard comments picking up the spare PDA once again, having dropped it when flung across the corridor. He tucks the slimline computer into his vest pocket for the moment, planning to look at it once the air around him is less inclined to leave at short notice. As a last thought he checks the flashlight attached to his shoulder and heads off into the darkness of the now powerless corridors.

As he walks Richard feels a slight chill seeping through his armour, he should have been expecting it, with power down - and the air bleeding out into the thin wispy nothing that mars claims to be a biosphere - things are going to get rather cold around here before too long. Piloting his way around the base on semi-automatic he makes his way through the slowly dying corridors, his attention drifting a bit from the incessant singing at the edge of his perception.

As such his first hint that anything is wrong comes when the previously airborne medic takes a sudden swan dive into the floor, narrowly avoiding a fast moving set of fireballs.

Richard has barely swung his rifle round when the second volley smashes into the floor the doctor has just left, punching a sizable crater into it. Making the obvious decision that anything that casually flings superheated plasma around is probably more dangerous than anything else, Richard fires off an eight round burst in the direction of the group of imps.

The first round sails straight over the heads of the zombies milling around the junction, right between the imps, and inserts itself half an inch into the rear wall. The second overcompensates, clipping the side of one zombie’s head and crashing full on into another, burying into whatever is left of the cerebrum and detonating in a cloud of neurons and high explosive. After this the string of bullets tracks in upon the central imp, the third and fourth catching it in the shoulder and partially severing the arm with their combined blasts. The fifth blazes through between the creature’s shoulder and head, leaving another small hole in the far wall.

After the sixth bullet, the seventh and eighth pulls in nicely, creating a neat line of holes in the front of the imp’s head, the last one barely entering front of the creature’s cranium before the first erupts from the rear in a rapidly expanding cone. In short succession the other two tear apart the rest of the already shattered skull.

At this point the entire horde seems to have his attention, as they turn and start moving along the corridor towards him. Deciding that this position is rapidly become suicidal, Richard ducks back behind the wall; a quick glance across the corridor tells him that the medic is doing the same, shotgun in hand. This idea strikes him as a good one, shotguns have a large surplus of stopping power when it comes to close range; and ranges don’t come much closer than Richard has in mind. Silently – at least to him, the recent gunfire having done nothing to help the buzzing in his ears – he slides his machine gun back on it’s strap and readies the shotgun. Not being able to hear too well he realises he doesn’t know how much further the zombie have to go before they burst round the corner. This leaves him with two options: guess, or jump when his partner across the hall does.

At that moment the choice becomes rather academic, since the doctor leaps out at this moment; and gets a talon in the chest for his troubles. Richard swings out with the shotgun poised at head height in front of him, at the first sign of movement he pulls the first trigger.

Since the first sign of movement was a zombie exhibiting an expression of utter blankness a few inches beyond the barrel, this is decidedly messy, the shot tearing through its head and spraying out into the other’s crowding behind it. Before the remaining body has time to notice gravity tapping it on the shoulder and pointing impatiently downward the second barrel erupts through the already vacated space above its neck.

As the corpse drops to the floor the shotgun joins it, thrown towards the side of the corridor as Richard reaches back for his machine gun. On the other side of the corridor another shotgun is making a similar trip, still clasped in its owner’s hands. As the rifle comes up his right thumb flicks it into automatic; the trigger going down whilst the muzzle is still pointing at waist level.

A chain of explosions works it’s way diagonally up the zombies moving towards him, blowing holes through their torsos but failing to do much else. After about half a second of wasted ammunition the flow reaches head height and some more positive results start to be displayed. So loudly is this firework party bouncing around inside his head, Richard doesn’t even hear the cry as a grenade goes flying over his head. His first hint that something is going to happen comes when the zombies falter and look around towards a spot on the ground.

A few tenths of a second later Richard find himself sailing backward on a shockwave of shattered zombie, still firing wildly into the mass as they disintegrate into yet more orange flakes of ash.

For a few seconds the flow stops, leaving them a few short moments of respite. Richard needs every one of them to regain his sense of balance and direction. At the end of it he is very much aware of the one remaining imp looking directly at him with what can only be described as utter loathing. He begins to bring his rifle up once again.

The creatures hands become enveloped in an increasingly bright field, flickering like the reflection of fire in black glass.

The sights line up on the creature’s forehead.

Its arms raise, fire coagulating around the tips.

Richard pulls the trigger.

Trailing a veil of flames behind it, the twin fireballs begin their searing path across the hall towards Richard.

The hammer slides forward, crushing the detonator cap. The propellant expands rapidly, propelling the shell along its finely grooved course; gaining speed until it erupts from the barrel and, with a loud crack, heads off on its first and final voyage.

Note to all: I STRONGLY suggest reading everyone’s DM, and their posts to coordinate.

DM #10 – “Holy "big blobs of shit" ()
  • Squad #1
    • Personal:
      • AcidK – Passing off slick to Goan, you quickly start firing with your pistol at the new creature. You see blood splatters from the points of entry of the bullets, but the creature keeps charging until it is in biting range, and bites at your left arm. You pull back as much you can, and it’s teeth scratch the heavy armor, and you start feeling pain when you manage to pull your hand out of it’s mouth, with the armor sparking, and blood dripping from the minor wounds. If it had been anything other than heavy armor, and not such a crappy grip, you probably would have lost your hand at the very least. Hearing something about a grenade, you leap backwards, as you see the grenade bouncing through the corridor towards the imps, which are throwing fireballs at Gokan. The grenade explodes, sending flames towards you, setting the new creature on fire, you’re your armor heats up. As the smoke clears, you see the imps were taken care of, and your friend, well, being on fire with shrapnel wounds to its backside makes it very angry. Limping much more slowly, it starts approaching you before it collapses, and starts to disintegrate. Making your way to the airlock followed by Gokan, you see the dropship outside, apparently having some troubles with its docking. It slams into the other side of the airlock, causing vibrations that carry through to your location. As it pulls back, you feel pinpricks on your back, and turn to see one of your former Marines, Mrmao, standing at the entrance to the airlock area, holding two pistols, apparently firing at you guys.

Tossing it down and shouting a warning, you turn as it explodes; taking out the imps, and a few seconds later, the large pink creature falls and starts to disintegrate. Running towards the airlock, you watch as the dropship starts having trouble with the docking, when you feel pain in your right shoulder, pain that blinds you. You then notice you are falling, and land painfully at an angle, and see the Marine you left for dead, Mrmao, walking towards you, holding two pistols. Apparently he was the source of your bullet wound.

Looking behind Gokan, you see a startling sight, besides the disintegrating copses. Mrmao, standing behind you guys, holding his pistols. However, his skin is a ugly shade of grey, and his eyes seems to be suffering from a bleeding problem. A second after you see him, he sees you, and raises his pistols, and starts firing. The first volley mostly miss you, except one that skims your torso, creating a line of fire. The zombiefied Mrmao then slowly reloads, and raises his weapons again.

The second strikes skims along your back, sending the nerves into a painful spasm of intense heat. However, you can still feel you feet and right hand, and able to move both, so that’s probably a good sign. Your shots tear into them easily, disintegrate them by the dozens, but they keep coming. One of the blasts strikes the transparent window, which both cracks and melts at the same time. Another blast, and you hear the sound anyone on a craft whose purpose it is to go into space hates to hear, the sound of escaping air. Another one strikes the lower end of the dropship, causing alarms to start blaring. Noticing you lost two plasma cannons, you finally turn towards the first airlock. You hear the gun turrets open fire, and the "big blobs of shit" fall back a little from the sudden onslaught, buying you enough time to move into position. Sadly enough, the corpse next to you, decided to return to life, and start attacking you. As you hit it by instinct, you notice something…. Strange. The places where you hit it turn to orange ash upon contact, though the effect is limited to the immediate area where you struck, namely the face of the zombie. It looks at you, missing what amounts to the skin on his face, revealing bone, some muscle, eyes and blood vessels. It clamps down on your shoulder, and you grab the back of its head, and bash it into the chain, the back of it’s head disintegrating as well. Then strangely, it starts to disintegrating completly. Turning back to the controls, you overcompensate and smash into the airlock. You see a red light appear in that area on the damage control monitor, and you attempt to compensate. You pull back a bit, and dock with the airlock, and wait for the incoming Marines as you locate the site of the next airlock.

In addition, the medical equipment all activates, which is probably a good thing. Checking the generator via your PDA, you see that the generator only has about an hours worth of power before it is useless unless giving a hour or so to recharge. As you check the generator, those noises you heard, it was coming from a ventilation duct. Looking up, you see a flash of movement, and an imp comes crashing through the grill, landing at the far end of the medical bay. The Doctor screams, and cowers at the far end as the imp hisses, and starts charging you.

Re: Doom

"Note... To Self... Wear.... Get clearance for heavy armour."

With a surge of monumental effort and willpower, Gokan manages to get to his feet, his accumulated injuries protesting no matter how much he avoids aggravating them. Clutching his injured shoulder and attempting to fight back the wave of blackness and nausea threatening to overwhelm him, he manages to half-run, half-stagger to the airlock, keeping as low as possible and weaving randomly. He reaches the airlock control panel. A large bolt of plasma crashes into the wall a few feet to his left, leaving the bulkhead scorched and blackened.

He enters the emergency release code into the panel, leaving smeared bloody fingerprints on the buttons. He's fairly sure he shouted out a warning to the others about switching to oxygen reserves, but he can feel himself going into shock, losing feeling in his extremeties, so it's entirely possible that it was his imagination.

The airlock hisses open, the emergency code overriding the normal cycling procedure and just opening it. There's a slight breeze as the uneven pressures equalise and Gokan, now feeling decidedly groggy and numb, manage to stagger into the airlock and throws himself into the dropship before passing into sweet unconsciousness...

Re: Doom

ooc/ Dunin Hemm, the armory blew up, you're at the airlock and hopefully getting into the dropship before it leaves, NOW GET A MOVE ON! /ooc

Flapjack quickly raised his pistol again, hoping his bullets won't run out before that imp does. Just as Flapjack aims and is about to pull the trigger, he notices all the medical equipment coming back online, and with it the surgical laser at the operating table, only a couple of steps away from both him and the imp.

Flapjack's response was slightly delayed as the imp was only a few feet away from him when he started off with a leap over the bed he was standing next to, the bed rooted firmly to the ground would hopefully provide a small obstacle for the imp as Flapjack hit the ground, going into a roll and coming up with amazing agility, in order to further speed this up, Flapjack turned the impending collision with the wall into a usefull thing, pushing off hard with his legs to again throw him up into the air a little and bringing him up to full run speed.

The imp wasn't as stupid as it seemed though as it quickly stopped and turned towards Flapjack, who had by now gotten between the good doctor and the damned imp. Somehow feeling something was wrong, Flapjack dropped into another roll, 2 fireballs passing directly overhead as he does so. Coming up out of th roll, Flapjack pushes off on the ground towards the surgical laser, which was currently pointing the wrong way for frying imps, but the right way for jumping onto.

Clinging onto the device, Flapjack hoped the robotic arm would be strong enough to hold his weight and the momentum of the swing it had just entered, giving him a few short moments to touch the laser's override switch at the head of the table as he flew overhead, another pair of fireballs occupying the space he had occupied moments earlier.

Merely touching the laser's override and giving a good swing on the power-selector to switch the laser up to full power, Flapjack finished his swing by stopping the laser with his feet against the bed, the bottom of the bed creaking in an eerie fashion as he landed firmly on the ground and pressed his finger onto the discharge control, firing a high intensity laser beam directly towards the imp, who had by now closed up on the bed and Flapjack significantly.

Releasing the laser a few moments later, the firing control still toggled in the on position and the imp stumbling with a neat 1" hole in its all to thick skull, Flapjack pulled his pistol out of its holster again, jumping into the imp, placing the pistol against its head from below and pulling the trigger twice, spreading the orange blood in a neatly circular manner across the ceiling while the imp began to disintegrate, dropping Flapjack onto the floor.

A mere moment later the laser scalpel's timed shutdown went pretty much as planned, cutting out the laser before it was able to do any serious damage to things other then the rather dead imp. As Flapjack got up he felt a sharp pain in his left shoulder, quickly checking it he discovered he'd dislocated it, probably in his little monkey stunt with the laser scalpel.

"Hey doc, could you fix my shoulder please? I think I dislocated it."

ooc/ Do I love having a doctor in the house /ooc

/ooc: Since it was posted under Squad 1: No I didn't read it, and my DM post didn't mention it..... whatever.

Roxborough crouches down on her haunches with her back to the wall as one of the marine seems to take care of all the enemies swiftly. Two fireballs punch into the wall close by and their flames lick along her left torso, but thankfully to her suit, the damage is leanient. A grenade blast rocks the area and she shakes her head to clear the shock from her brain, getting up and gritting her teeth as the burnt skin on her body moves.

She looks around the corner seeing the medic seek cover from the mentioned grenade and the lingering glow of enemies disintegrating. The light from her flashlight scans through the smoke as she aims her chaingun down the corridor. Looks clear. She sprints over to the medic looking at him for signs of injury. In any case, she looks back at the others, signaling with her hand to advance.

"PAAAAIIIINNNN.....!!!!"

He manages to scream out between vomitting and simply not being able to do anything between the bursts of stabbing and somehow exploding pain in his guts.

This so sucked. He didn't sign up for this. He didn't really sign up for bashing zombies, but at least that was fun.

"THIS ****ING HURTS YOU ARSEHOLES...!!!"

Screaming itself started to hurt too. Maybe he was being a pussy, maybe not. But exploding body parts never were much fun.

Vomitting again, he looses his grip and falls down from his crouched on hands and knees position, right into his earlier excreted... body.. fluids. Cursing as he ****ing even tastes what it is, he moans (moans loudly, that is) some more in pain.

I'm ****ing vomitting blood.

Blood! Blood damnit!

Not fun!

"MEEDIIICCC?"

etc. etc. etc.

Of course, somewhere along the lines, Fluffie somehow manages to realise some arse took all the MED KITS ...

So:

"YE THIEVING PIECE OF SCUM GIVE ME PAIN KILLERS OR I'LL VOMIT IN YER EARS BITCH!"

The above might or might have not been yelled in parts due to some more pain from exploded parts of appendix floating around inside of Fluffie. Fun!

"Shit shit shit!!"
The glass screen melts ominously below his feet. The surface of mars remains pretty, especially from up here, he thinks to himself, and those things need to be removed, one by one if nessassary. It would be easy to say that now, not down there in the thick of it. That's what the trainings for, bastard pen pushers requesting extra forces only when the operation goes haywire...
Looking out over the sun, he realises he's been panicking, and just in time, hears the scream from above. Pushing to his feet, he grabs the bars and hauls himself intto the tube, only to be rocked as the ship glaces from the airlock.
"God Damn! Steer straight!" He shouts up, before continuing his ascent.
Reaching the decking in time to see and hear fluffie bauling like a small child. Marines are trained to be strong in the face of danger, yet this one... seems... almost as mad his himself. Who'd want a post out here. Swiftly opening his bag, he grabs a medkit, and with a rough salute:
"Sorry, Sir."
Throwing into his lap, he moves up, shotgun in hand... to find out what the hell is going on in the cockpit. Opening his bag, he drops a suit of armour next to the pilots chair, followed by a plasma rifle.
"We've got two, and you might like the protection. We've a hull breach, underside gunturret, so the oxygen unit might also be of use."
Dropping a pistol, he indicates how to load it, as well as the safety.
"Use this if you exhaust that. Don't expect to kill much..."

Dropping into the co-pilots chair, he tries to relax and let his shaken organs retake there original places....

*Hewitt took a few moments to catch his breath from the quick jog across the armory before he was interupted by the god almighty explosion. It is about here that things become fuzzy since the next thing he remembers is waking up on the ground, the sounds of bells ringing flooding his ears.*

"God damn that was a big explosion."

*Lying flat on his back, Hewitt is about to get up when he notices the bulkhead above him and freezes. Staring in partial shock at deteriorating surface above, it is then that Hewitt notices a simple harmless sound that can only lead to devestating consequences...

The sound of air escaping.*

"Oh. F*ck."

*Hewitt gets to his feet quicker than the time it takes for an insurance salesmen to make a bad impression.*

“*static*ad 2, this is*static*Kelly. We read a*static*explosion in*static*area*static*breaches spreading*static*must evacuate! Dropship in *static* air get to *static* airlock 3*static* on PDA*static*.”

*Hewitt quickly looks at his PDA as information floods in. Airlock 3... got it.*

Richpur: “I think that means this might be a good time to get out of here.”

*Hewitt gives out a sideways glance to the smart ass private. *

"No shit sherlock. I'm certainly not hanging around here, let's go everyone!"

*Hewitt is about to run off into the dark confines of the corridor beyond when a second explosion somewhere in the base nearly causes him to fall to feet. He can now hear creaking sounds coming from the bulkheads. Oh that can't be good.*

"Come on! Let's MOVE IT!!"

*Soon the squad is sprinting it''s way along the failing corridors with only a about two feet of flashlight to determine what's in front of them whether it be empty space, a wall or ugly. As they are jogging along he finds himself starting to fall behind but is still caught off guard when the doctor airplane comes flying back around a corner soon followed several fireballs.*

"Oh crap!"

*Hewitt slams himself against the side of the corridor to avoid getting taken out along with the rest of the squad. He quickly checks his PDA and let's loose with a string of curses when he finds out that the only way to the safety of the airlock is through the horde of demons around the corner.*

"When I finally think things can't get any worse!"

*Hewitt turns to look towards the corner where Richard is busy blasting away at the monsterous foes around it. With a shock, Hewitt realises that Dr Duke is still around the corner where he had dived to avoid the first wave of fire. With a potential squad mate in peril, Hewitt's hands immediately go to the heavy chainguns at his sides. In a single movement he unlocks them from their side mounted catches and literally throws them up and out in front of him, grabbing hold of the trigger guards at the last possible moment like some kind of western-style gunslinger drawing his guns.

With weapons now drawn Hewitt steps out of cover and begins to move towards the corner. But surprisingly at that moment Duke re-appears, more or less ok. Hewitt is relieved and begins to lower his guns.*

"God damn it doc-"

*Suddenly both Richard and Duke disappear around the corner. A few shotgun blasts later they quickly return... followed by the entire masses of evil baring down on them.*

"Sweet f-"

*Hewitt doesn't have time to finish. A horde of demon zombies is about to take down two of his squad mates. While Duke crawls around on the ground in front of them and Richard fires randomly into the oncoming mass, Hewitt brings his chainguns back up to waist level and pulls back hard on the triggers. The force of gunfire unleashed is so great, Hewitt is forced to take a step back and brace himself with one of his augmented legs.*

"I'm over here motherf*ckers!"

*Milliseconds after a zombie implodes in a cloud of blood and dry flesh when Hewitt's bullets tear into it. Two more right behind it are instantly cut in half across the shoulders as the bullets having entered the first hapless zombie exit soon after.*

"Your all now in deep shit!"

*A slight swing to the left causes another five to stop dead in their tracks as their top halves lose contact with their lower.*

"Becauses thanks to you lot I never got any coffee this morning!"

*Hewitt adjusts his aim to be much higher so as to avoid hitting Duke but with his chainguns still firing three more zombies become riddled with bullet holes.*

"Which makes me REALLY cranky!"

*He nails another couple more zombies right in the head, before the rain of spent bullet shells cease falling both his chainguns now out of ammo. It is then that Hewitt notices he has succeeded in his task of drawing off some attention from Richard and Duke when several zombies at the front of the pack draw out an usual variety of weapons and take aim at Hewitt.*

"..."

"Damn."

*The zombies open fire.*

*Hewitt makes a futile dive for cover but as he does so he knows he is far too late. Time slows down. A series of painful impacts in the left side of his gut and another in his arm tells Hewitt's adenline pumped mind that he's been hit by a number of concentrated bursts all along the left side, enough to penetrate the heavy armour. This is quickly followed by a large burning sensation that sears it's way deep into the flesh of his upper left arm... this tell Hewitt that one of the imps took the opportunity to take a pot shot at him. Time speeds up. Hewitt hits the ground expecting to take a few more shots up the rear as prepares to roll up behind an external vertical airduct junction by the side of the corridor. But instead the gunfire ceases....

And another god almighty explosion erupts from within the group of zombies!

Being some distance away and lying face first into the ground has some advantages it seems as the blast wave from the grenade goes flying over him, covering him in dirt and zombie bits. It takes Hewitt some to register what had just happened, and although he missed it, now picks up on Duke's call in his memory of the previous ten seconds. That sonabitch had pulled it off. How the hell did that man end up becoming a doctor?

However, as the dust settles Hewitt becomes aware that their is still a problem. With the pain from his injuries now starting to make their precence known as the adenline wears off, Hewitt sees a tall, dark siluoette of a single imp standing mere metres in front of him. Hewitt can almost clearly make out all of it's features but the creature seemed not to have noticed him, it's focus centred else where. He watches helplessly as it raises it's brightly glowing hands to let loose with another barrage of fire at someone. It's unnatural hands are wreathed in small flames that quickly grow in intensity as they snake their way up the creatures arms until building up into fully fledged freeballs. The hideous creature unleashes the firey fury at it's prey... but at the same time the loud boom of a shotgun being fired echos out from nearby and something wet hits Hewitt across the face as he watches the imp with facination as it's head explodes.

And then... silence. Sweet, utter blissful silence.

Quickly followed by a stab of reality - they still had to reach the airlock!*

"Ohh... Ha! Well, that was a laugh and this ground feels pretty comfortable right now but all those in favour of getting to the airlock and surviving for another thirty seconds please say aye. Heh."

*Hewitt groans audibly as he gets to his feet, his arm and guts doing everything possible to make the simple move an agonising one. However, it could've been worse and Hewitt uses that knowledge to try and dull the pain... and when that doesn't work he simply clenches his teeth.*

"I sure hope there's coffee on the shuttle..."

*Feeling tired all of a sudden, Hewitt gathers up his two chainguns like an old man would gather up a pair of moccasins. He sees Roxborough's signal to advance and simply nods as he starts to walk down through the flickering light of the corridor towards the airlock. On the way he reloads both his chainguns but after another protest from the wounds in his left side is forced to strap one gun to his armour, able only to wield one in his right hand.

The airlock turns out to be a laughable distance away. Reaching it first, Hewitt let's the chaingun hang low as he uses his left to open the lock. There is another small protest at this movement, but Hewitt is able to ignore it. He swings the chaingun back up into firing position, checking the interior for any more beasties before hunkering down inside.*

"Clear."

Basic Medical Kit – Containing a variety of bandages, bio-foam and stimulants, this kit is designed to be used by Marines to get their wounded back on their feet and fighting, or retreating depending on the situation. Contains Bio-Foam, which can be injected into wounds to stop off bleeding, universal stimulants to keep a Marine awake, and universal plasma that can be injected into a Marine to replace lost blood.
Seeing the Marine appear with Medical Kits made Fluffie feel better a bit already - instantly too! Not rejoicing too much because of the pain, he somehow manages to drag himself into a chair, just in time to catch the Kit with his lap. Smooth move, luckily it didn't land just a bit higher, or he would've had to patch up more than just... his... intestines.

Opening up the Med Kit, he realises that is a mere Basic one. Tough luck on one side, now he couldn't try and really cure himself. Good luck on the other hand though, he probably would've killed himself trying to magically glue his appendix back together. Especially with all this violence and all these zombies around, cutting open his belly and trying to apply superglue to his intestines probably would've gotten him cancers.

That's right kids, zombies cause cancer.

Going through the Kit, he discards the Bio Foam. Although he really would've loved to play with it, it just, didn't, seem right to try and attempt things "like that" at this given time. Instead, he takes a not-so-small amount of syringes, containing blood plasma and stimulants and stabs them into his legs...

He figured it'd be enough to keep him going for.. a few minutes at least. Maybe even long enough to reach a bloody doctor or medic. Looking around as the drugs start kicking in, he wonders what the hell he should be doing...

Re: Doom

/ooc You sat down in the pilot's chair, Heiro, due to the fact that it was previously occupied, so Arlan shifted all control over to the co-pilot's chair . . . but who cares about semantics, eh? ooc/

Arlan looks on in shock as the zombie's face seems to . . . melt . . . away into ash as his fist slams into it. They . . . they were only supposed to turn into dust after they "died", weren't they? Weren't they!? Unfortunately, Arlan had little time to ponder out the oddities of this event, as the zombie was still coming. A few quick slams against the edge of the co-pilot's control console seemed to fix that, although once more the zombie's flesh seared away where Arlan touched it, before finally the entire zombie melted away at last. Breathing a sigh of relief, Arlan turns back to the controls . . . just in time to pull the shuttle away from a high-speed impact with the airlock. Instead, all that happens is that the shuttle rather abruptly slams to a halt against the airlock. Judging by the shouts from out in the corridor, however, he was still catching flak from it. Suddenly, the decompression alarm went off, and Arlan cursed as the shuttle status screen showed red where the lower point defense turret was. No doubt one of those big blots of . . . whatever they were, were responsible for the breach. Arlan hoped everyone was ok: he could probably use someone to vouch for him once all those marines came on-board and saw a "civie" at the controls. Flicking the switch to turn on the shuttle's external speakers, Arlan shouted, "Everyone on-board!!" He then began to look for the controls to shut and seal the doorway leading into the cockpit: hopefully that would enable him to survive the shuttle's hull breach just a bit longer. Fortunately, before he could find it, one of the marines hustled into the cockpit . . . Grave, if Arlan remembered his name correctly. Opening up a large duffle bag that seemed stretched to capacity, Grave removes a suit of light armor and places it on the floor, followed by a large, bulky rifle that looked like the plasma rifles Arlan had read about in those classified documents he had pilfered from that UAC database . . . the UAC certainly had its finger in many pies.

"We've got two, and you might like the protection. We've a hull breach, underside gunturret, so the oxygen unit might also be of use." Grave said, reaching into his bag a third time.

"Hell yes!" Arlan replied, greedily snatching up the light armor's helmet and shoving it down over his head. He then tightens down the helmet's neck seal as best he could, and then turned on the airflow. Not much, but it was the best he could do for now, and pilot the ship at the same time . . . he'd put the rest of the suit on later. (Unless, of course, sealing the helmet is impossible as-is, in which case Arlan also slaps on the chest piece.)

By this time, Grave had also produced a pistol, which he quickly showed Arlan how to use, prompting a smile from Arlan.

"Use this if you exhaust that. Don't expect to kill much . . ."

Picking up the pistol, Arlan tested the balance for a moment, as well as ensuring the safety was on, and then twirled it around in the grip of his left hand several times. Stopping suddenly, Arlan pointed it behind him, out through the cockpit door, arm straight out, with a slight bend to reduce the recoil. Bringing his right hand around, Arlan worked the slide back, kicking out the still-as-yet unfired first bullet in the clip. Eyes still looking down the sights, Arlan moved his right hand away from the slide and caught the unfired bullet as it fell. Smiling triumphantly at Grave, Arlan said, "Two-time Sport Pistol Champion at Lunar University. Name's Arlan, by the way." Arlan offered the marine his right hand for a friendly handshake, while meanwhile setting the pistol back down on the floor of the dropship with his other hand. This done, Arlan turned his attention back to the control panel. "Everyone onboard!!! We're leaving!!" He shouted, his voice echoing somewhat in the confines of his helmet. Arlan waited after few seconds, and then detached the shuttle from the airlock and pushed the engines up to full again, sending the shuttle screaming away from the airlock. He then called up the next airlock that they had to pick-up marines at, while Grave plopped himself down into the former pilot's seat. Switching on the shuttle's internal speakers, Arlan said for everyone's benefit, as well as Grave's, "You might want to buckle up, this is gonna be a bumpy ride!!" The view of yet more blobs of sh*t approaching from the cockpit window seemed to confirm this assessment . . .

Re: Doom

Fluffie was standing in the airlock at some point. Life had just gotten a little bit more fun, but somehow standing in the airlock and helping people in seemed important. Some little voice, that sounded as if it came from high above, had been telling him to do so.

So he did.

Help the newbies get on board, Luke!

Assuming the newbies were the people that weren't him, he was helping just about everyone trying to make their way in. Dragging them, offering them a shoulder to drag theirselves in with. That kind of stuff.

Being a real gentleman, yeah.

He wondered if there were any of those stimulants left..

Re: Doom

While prepping for the DM, I noticed I left many of you with, well, no real options for a DM. Hence this next one will be more of a regrouping/story based one, mostly story driven.

Re: Doom

Note to all: This DM is more of a regrouping – reorganizing type, and thus more story driven, with my being the puppeteer, and you all the puppets. So sit down, grab a cold one, and enjoy the show.

DM #11 – “That's right kids, zombies cause cancer. “

As Gokan slams hits the emergency override code into the airlock, Mrmao opens fire again, but this time you all avoid being hit. It seems that his aim is very poor when the targets actually are moving. As the doors open, his facemask automatically switches to it’s built in air supply as Gokan stumbles and jumps into the dropship. As Gokan passes out, Fluffie, his burst appendix now a dull soreness in his side, though the inside of his helmet is now covered with blood, pulls him in and straps him to a nearby chair.

Meanwhile, Slick, shaking badly from his wounds, raises up his shotgun and manages to fire off a shot. The projectiles strike the zombiefied Mrmao, severing his left arm at the shoulder. As it flies through the air, the arm disintegrates. The rest of Mrmao staggers to the left for a second, before firing with the pistol. Once again Slick feels the sweet pain of bullet wounds as he falls back. Mrmao looks down at Slick, and raises the pistol, not noticing AcidK raising his pistol and opening fire. The first few shots open up gaping wounds on Mrmao’s chest, and with his last shot, AcidK tags Mrmao in the forehead. The walking corpse falls backwards, disintegrating into dust. Grabbing the wounded Mrmao, AcidK pulls him into the dropship and seals the airlock.

Looking back, Inspectre sees that all the Marines in this section have managed to get onboard. Pulling the throttle, he accelerates the dropship away from the first airlock, as it shakes violently from glancing blows from the giant blobs of shit. Due to Inspectre’s eccentric flying, the glancing hits are the worst that the dropship suffers. Heiro meanwhile operates what remains of the forward weapons, firing them into the mass of blobs. Very quickly, almost too quickly the blobs adapt, and start position themselves away from the front of the dropship. This is a partially effective method to avoiding being hit, due to Inspectre constantly changing direction of the dropship as he attempts to maneuver it towards the second airlock.

Meanwhile at the second airlock, Hewiit, Dunin Hemm, Richpur and Disruptor managed to make their way to the entrance. However on their tails were what seemed to be endless amounts of enemies following, firing bullets, fireballs, and in some cases, limbs at them. Crouched at the airlock, they have in effect started a final stand against the creatures, buying time. Hewitt, restricted to one chaingun, is particular effective, as he fights through the pain of his various wounds. Fortunally heavy combat armor has built into it a variety of emergency stimulants that can be used to keep even the most wounded soldier fighting, and thanks to some quick injections of clotting agents from Disruptor, who focuses on keeping Hewitt alive and kicking, is maintaining the primary line, thanks to his chaingun, with Dunin Hemm assisting with her new chaingun. Without heavy armor through, she has to put even more effort into her aiming that Hewitt. With Richard provide covering fire with his smaller weapon, the three fire constantly towards the advancing creatures, the kill count rising rapidly, but in the end, who killed what doesn’t matter. As the corpses disintegrate, more creatures seem to take their place, and slowly start advancing. The lack of the infinite bullet syndrome that occurs all too frequently in movies also is not good, for far to soon, Hewitt’s chaingun completely runs out of ammunition. Switching to his other one is a painful process that takes far too much time, allowing the creatures to advance even further. All too quickly Dunin Hemm also runs out of ammo for her chaingun, and she quickly switches to her flamethrower, which temporarily drives the monsters back.

It is then that the dropship, his port forward engine on fire, slams into the airlock. Disruptor, living up to his name as the Doctor airplane, jumps over to the airlock and opens it, sending out a massive gust of air as pressure equalizes. AcidK and Fluffie, with AcidK having a moment to grab ammunition, open fire from the cover of the airlock, as Disruptor leaps into the dropship, followed by Hewitt and Richard, with Dunin Hemm holding off the enemies with her flamethrower. As she is about get onboard, one of the creature, a zombie that looks to have been a civilian clerk of something, leaps through the flames, its flesh on fire and slashes at Dunin Hemm. Its burning fingers race across her chest armor, and along her right arm, catching her military fatigues on fire, the flames cauterizing the deep wounds inflicted. A few well placed shots manage to remove the flaming zombie from existence, and Dunin Hemm stumbles into the relative safety of the airlock as it closes on the dropship end. With one of the Marines yelling “All aboard”, Inspectre manipulates the contrls and pulls the dropship away.

All over the control console, alarms start going off about the left forward thruster, and it suddenly explodes from a direct hit, sending the craft spinning. With the remaining three thrusters, Inspectre manages to guide the dropship towards the emergency landing pad, which if he recalls correctly from what the message said, should lead towards the main medical bay. As more alarms start going off, he sees the landing pad, and guides the ship in, yelling out a random warning to everyone about a crash landing. With a bone-shaking jar, the dropship drops out of the air and onto the pad.

Another alarm on the dropship joins the rest, one that indicates hull breaches onboard the dropship, and another warning about the fuel cells exploding. The airlock on the base side opens up, revealing Flapjack and the doctor, who has received a transmission previously from Sergeant Kelly about the incoming dropship and probable wounded. Both wearing breath masks, they quickly run to the dropship, getting Hewitt and the other wounded onto stretchers and oxygen masks on their faces. Quickly evacuating, everyone clears the dropship and makes it into the airlock, sealing it before flames start erupting over the dropship. Running down the corridor, they seal it off, until with another bone-shaking vibration, the dropship explodes violently. By this point, everyone has managed to clear the blast zone.

Making their way towards the medical bay, the wounded are stripped of their armor and placed onto examination tables. Slowly the doctor goes through them, yelling orders at Disruptor to assist him in treating everyone, while using some of the automated systems to speed the recovery.
  • AcidK – Sitting up on the examination table, Disruptor runs over to you and spends only a few seconds on you, before attaching a temporary brace to your wrist. Injecting you with some anti-inflammatory agents and general painkillers, along with bandaging your wrist, to you it feels as good as new.

Lying there, you have a moment to reflect as to what is happening before Disruptor runs along. Checking the wound, he pulls out an extractor tool, used to remove foreign objects. Placing it into your wound, thanks to the painkillers you hardly feel a thing as the remains of the bullet are removed. Applying some bio-foam and synth-flesh, along with general stimulants and anti-inflammatory agents, Disruptor mentions something about you being alright before moving on.

Judging from the numbness, you had synth-flesh applied, a wonderful substance that simulated skin and muscle until the real stuff had a chance to grow, and best yet, the synth-flesh actually accelerated the healing. Looking at a tray next to you, you see the remains of the bullet that was within your arm.

The doctor looks at your wounded body as he hooks you to an emergency filtering unit, which takes in your blood, filters and adds artificial blood to replace that which is lost. Checking the wounds, he focuses on the bullet wounds. While the armor managed to deflect the worst of the tiny explosions, the fragments still did significant damage. You distantly hear the doctor mention something about lungs, kidney, even spine at one point. You keep fading in and out of consciousness as the fragments are removed, until finally you awaken fully, finding your torso heavily bandaged, and your arm itching from synth-flesh being applied to it, also heavily bandaged. Looking at the filter attached to your arm, you lay there, getting your bearings as you smell the sweet smell of coffee brewing nearby, and you are able to see a coffee maker currently in the process of making the sweet mixture, with plenty of cups nearby.

The doctor then comes back into your eyesight and you see his hands covered with blood. He mentions something about how he fixed you, so that you don’t have to worry about the wound, and how the entry incision is now sealed with synth-flesh and you can move about once the painkillers fade from your system.

Finally the Doctor, now covered in the blood of others, and looks at you. You mention something about the headaches, and the pressure differences, and the Doctor slaps on some scanners. Watching the readouts, the Doctor blinks in shock, the looks at you.

“Well Marine, it looks like you have a transfer upcoming if we ever get out of here to Special Ops. According to my readouts, for some reason you are now psychically aware, which is rare for someone of your age, normally this event occurs during puberty. Let me know if the pain gets any worse and I’ll give you some mild painkillers, otherwise from what I recall it’s best if you get used to it on your own.”

    • Seeing that the Doctor caught the transmission, you two run to the airlock with as many stretchers as your can push and pull. Reaching it, you see that the dropship has already arrived, and the landing was pretty crappy. Opening the airlock, you exit the base and help gather the wounded and rush them to the medical bay.

While the doctor is treating the wounded, you look over the various armor and weapons that were returned as well. Most of the damage to the armor was from small arms fire, which you are able to repair thanks to a nearby toolkit nearby. You also use the portable power generator that Hewitt was carrying to recharge all the heavy combat armors. As for weapons, they all seem to be suffering from a similar problem, namely lack of ammunition, but you see that they all should be able to fire. Seeing most of the Marines recovered somewhat, you start handing back armor and weapons.

ALL: As the wounded slowely regain their senses and pull themselves up, the general comm-link for the medical bay goes off.

“Marines, this is Sergeant Kelly. We have limited power for this, so I’m making it fast. Alpha sector is completely lost, and if our indications are correct, you have lost your dropship. We need to regroup, for all survivors are sustaining heavy losses. You are to split into two squads, one of which head to sector B2, which should have the required security cards and spare weapons and ammunition. The security cards will be needed in particular to gain access to the Monorail station in Sector B4. In addition, we need to send an emergency broadcast, and the nearest comm-station that has access to the orbital boosters is in Sector B3. The second squad is to make their way there and send the transmission, then regroup with the first squad and you all make your way to Delta sector via the monorail. I know you all have been through hell, and ladies, it’s only going to get worse. Kelly out.”

As the comm-link goes silent, No Dachi suddenly clutches his head and moans, falling over. He then looks up, his eyes looking…. Strange, fully dilated, not staring at anything. If one was able to see through his minds eye, they would see waves upon waves of enemies, zombies, imps, large pink things, and other monstrosities running about the base, with only a few handful of survivors. What's worse, is the fact that a large number of them are slowly making their way towards the medical bay. Managing to pull himself back, No Dachi tries to speak, but finds it... difficult to say the least. He finally manages to utter:

“We have to leave, NOW!”

Without warning, the portable power generator that is supplying power to the medical bay sparks, and the power dies, plunging the medical bay into darkness. As you scramble for your flashlights, you all hear a variety of roars, screams, and crunching noises.

And now, for the Karma Points System:

I grade your posts based on how detailed they are, what they include from my DM, how creative, etc etc. If your post is espicially good, you gain a Karma point, which can be used if you do something stupid/unable to post, and you will not be hurt/maimed/killed for now. A good way to earn some nice Karma points is to have your post include the actions described in the above DM from your characters point of view.

Re: Doom

Duke runs after the group of evacuees and into the medical facility. Sighing at the fact that this was where he originally came from oh so long ago he runs over to Richpur to treat his burns. Duke applies some anti-burn ointment and wraps the worst burned areas with bandages then uses some bio-foam and synth-flesh to treat other bad burns. Duke grabs up a power splint and applies it to Richpur’s arm to help compensate for the arm’s muscle tissue loss. Duke injects Richpur with antibiotics, stimulants, and some painkillers and then moves on to Roxborough.

Duke walks over to Roxborough and inspects her wounds. He hooks up an IV and attaches some synth-flesh along with anti-inflammatory agents. He also adds so disinfectants for the obvious purpose of preventing infections. Duke wraps up with the bandaging and moves along to Gokan.

Duke approaches Gokan and starts to check his wounds. He turns around and grabs an extractor tool off of the behind counter and starts rummaging around carefully inside Gokan’s gut. Duke removes a few bullets and a pair of keys from deep within the recesses of Gokan. He then goes about applying various healing agents such as bio-foam and anti-inflammatory agents then tells Gokan he’ll be just fine. He trots of to Heiro who seems to be the least wounded.

Duke runs along to yet another victim of hellish onslaught, almost completely spent. He looks over Heiro and applies burn ointments to his burns and places some bandages and synth-flesh where needed. He then tiredly makes his way over to the coffee machine for a well earned pick-me-up. As Duke reaches the machine No-Dachi yells something about leaving, which he ignores, and then almost as if cued by the yell, the generator explodes and the coffee pot is lost to Duke.

“Alright no more Mr. Nice Medicinal Aviator!!!” Duke yells as his one chance at happiness is shrouded in the pitch-blackness of dark anti-lightedhood. Duke is immediately silence by the sound of hell itself, if hell could roar like a lion.

“EVERYONE OUT OF HERE NOW!” he yells as loud as he can. There are more loud unpleasant sounds and crashes as Duke runs blindly to the doors, outside a large, unfriendly shadow is just barely visible. Duke fumbles for his shotgun, actions that attracts the thing’s attention. Duke hears a loud growl from the other side of the door and fires both of the shotgun barrels through the door and into the demon beyond. The shadow drops and Duke is barely able to make out ash appearing on the ground.

Duke reloads his shotgun and turns around to notice more shapes coming from the beds and going in various directions at various rates. He finishes with the shotgun and turns to go down the corridor towards the security closet with keycards and such but realizes he has no flashlight. Duke crouches down by the wall and awaits his fellows arrival to start his journey down into the deep of the mars base.

Re: Doom

Roxborough lies back as Duke goes to work on her, removing the burnt top of the overall (presumably) and what little remains of her tank top. The bandages will have to do for clothing. She doesn't flinch when either IV or artificial tissue is applied: Her sleekly muscled body remains relaxed as she stares up at the ceiling, going through the past hour in her mind.

The news reach them, that they must press on from their safe haven. Roxborough shrugs and looks over to her only remaining weapon: The flamethrower. She didn't really have time to take the discarded chaingun with her, nor salvage its flashlight. To top it off, she only has half a tank of remaining fuel, so any mission requiring big amounts of ammunitions seems out of question.

One of the marines seems to have a seizure and commands them to leave immediately. Well, no shit Jesus? And then the power fails, leaving them in the dark together with the sounds of the formerly humane. Roxborough lies still, though, staring into the inky nothing before her calmly. Then flashlights flick on and spread light at random points in the room, disturbing Roxborough's eyes. She gets up and kneels down by her equipment. She dons her breastplate directly on top of her bandaged torso as well as strapping on her helmet. The napalm tank is next and she stands up, flamethrower in hands.

"I'll go for the radio-room, gentlemen," she tells them and moves over to the appropriate door. "Anytime you're ready."

Disrupter, the doors haven't opened yet

In other news, a quickie DM!

Disruptor, in a rush to escape the sudden confines of the medical bay, shoots at the door with a shotgun, doing little to no damage, then runs into said door, smacking his nose against it with a loud cracking sound, and stumbles back with a obviously broken nose streaming blood.

Oh and BTW: There IS coffee in the coffee pot, hot and ready to drink, with Hewitt getting first dibs on it!

Re: Doom

Gokan fades in and out of consciousness after making it onto the dropship he vaguely recalls an explosion, and being carried down a corridor. But most of his mind is filled with nightmares, friends and family, ashen-faced and dull-eyed chasing him down endless poorly lit corridors. Seemingly non-sensical hatches opening in the smooth featureless walls to disgorge yet more of the zombies. The corridors end suddenly, and he turns to face his persuers who, as he watches, change, bones cracking and flesh tearing until they resemble imps far more than the humans they once were. He draws his pistols and unloads round after round into the mass, until his guns let off a resounding click. The collective mass hisses constantly and unleashes a volley of incandescent plasma.

He wakes up with a sudden start, looking up at the doctor standing above him, examining him. The world seems fuzzy somehow, the pains inflicted upon him over the last... Days? Hours? Minutes? He wasn't sure, seem like dull echoes, he can still feel them, but they feel like they belong to someone else, somehow.

Mentally he retraces his steps over the course of the day, being woken up by alarms for the fourth time in a row, the treck to the old communications center. The laughter sticks in his mind, somehow striking him as more disturbing than anything that's happened since. The zombies, he stops for a moment, the scientist and those two marines had turned immediately, and MrMao had turned relatively quickly after dying.

He loses his train of thought as Disrupter somehow manages to extract the bullet fragments from his shoulder, by entering through his stomach, he pauses to reflect on whether this is an indication of his qualifications as a doctor. He mutters something Gokan doesn't quite hear before he walks off.

The marines, and scientist had changed immediately, presumably so had the rest of the zombies they had encountered. MrMao had changed after dying... Yet the rest of them were seemingly unnaffected. Why were they immune? Were they really immune? Or was it simply a matter of time before he and the others changed?

The effects of the painkillers slowly wear off, and Gokan feels he can once again differentiate between up and down. Carefully, he sits up moving his shoulder, it aches very slightly, but he is surprised to find that he has full movement in it, and the bruises across his ribs, now a splendid shade of yellow an purple, don't hurt at all.

He glances around, spotting his combat gear, now easily identifiable due to the crude metal patch on the left shoulder, and the small gouges over the right-hand ribs. Quickly he pulls the gear on, feeling only slightly safer beneath the thin layers of kevlar. He checks the clips in his pistol, he looks up at the others, then moves the action, ejecting a perfectly good round from the gun's chamber. He puts the single round in an upper pocket before clicking on the safety and holstering the gun.

Literally, the exact second he holsters the gun, No Dachi has his episode.

No Dachi: "We have to leave, NOW!"

Gokan, relatively happy that No Dachi isn't going to be interested in an exclusive raw flesh diet just yet, holsters the pistol for the second time. Again, with almost perfect timing, this time for the generator to spark and die, taking the lights with it. An array of growls, snorts, hisses and moans suddenly fill the room.

"Why couldn't it have just been the toaster again?" he says sardonically...

flapjack is infamous around these parts
Re: Doom

*Flapjack had a few moments to watch as the remains of the imp disintegrated away, a small dent in the wall showing where the laser had hit it, small curls of smoke rising from the piece quite hot wall. Before he even realises the doctor was standing next to him, a sharp pain shot through Flapjack's shoulder for the second time in a way to short time, luckily it was a good pain this time as Flapjack finds himself able to move his arm properly again*

"Thanks doc, I have a feeling I'm gonna need that arm."

*A few moments later Flapjack's comm-link crackles to life: “Marine, *static*is Sergeant Kelly. We read *static*dropship *static*to *static*position, and *static**static*wounded. Get *static*there and *static*them. Kelly out.” Immediatly after which Flapjack grabs 2 stretchers and drops another 2 folded up stretchers on top of that, rushing over to the door with his back towards the door, Flapjack hit the emergency release to the side of the door, the doctor closely following him*

*A quick pass through a couple of hallways later, they arrived at the airlock, looking out the small window to the side, Flapjack is just able to make out the shape of the dropship as it slams down onto the pad and the airlock connects with a solid thud, looking over to the doctor, Flapjack noticed he had produced a set of oxygens masks from seemingly nowhere. As the airlock door opens, there is a short rush of air as the airlocks on both sides are open, within seconds however this rush of air stops, significantly limiting the amount of air lost on the inside*

*The next few seconds where a near blur, Flapjack and the doctor dropping the wounded onto the stretchers and Flapjack deploying the extra 2 he had managed to grab, the small group then headed back into medbay, where Flapjack quickly helped the wounded out of their armor, setting the heavy armor up in the corner with Hewitt's portable generator to recharge them as fast as possible*

*A short while passed with Flapjack monitoring the heavy armors as they recharged, checking over the guns and grabbing 2 new pistols, slipping them into his belt on the sides. Satisfied with the condition of the weapons, though somewhat puzzled over the exact workings of the plasma rifle, it seemed rather unconventional, Flapjack started with the armor*

*A few dozen holes and dents later, the sets of armor are as good as new, except for the significant amounts of grease now deposited near and on the joints. Done with this, Flapjack checked the ammo counts, then started on returning the weapons and armors he had been taking care off to the now mostly fixed up marines, dropping them at the side of the bed for those that where unable to put them on when he arrived*

*No Dachi then collapsed rather suddenly, getting back up and yelling something about getting out. All prepared for it, Flapjack grabbed the access card and the PDA he had acquired earlier*

"Guys, I have maps to most of the sections, I'll see if this PDA has delta sector maps. I've also got a delta security card."

*Waving his card around for a moment, Flapjack notices 1 of the marines running into the door he had previously closed, walking over, Flapjack reached for his medkit and realised it was still at the maintenance shaft hatch. Thus jumping over to the maintenance shaft to grab his medkit, Flapjack is right next to his portable generator when it sparks and almost explodes, plunging the medbay into darkness again*

"Now what, oh great, looks like my generator shorted out. Hewitt, I'll take that generator, doc, I think it's best if you went with 1 of the squads, the medbay isn't safe now."

*Putting the generator on his back, Flapjack walked back over to Disrupter and quickly patched his nose up, hoping he didn't overdo his repair job, Flapjack put the medkit on his back as well as grabbing the toolkit and putting the more important tools on his utility belt. Now fully loaded with everything he thought he might need, Flapjack walked over to the door Disrupter had slammed into and entered the override code to open it, not pressing the open button untill everyone was ready to go*

"I'll go for the comm center, it might need fixing."

ooc/ Gokan, everyone's armor is patched up, your armor doesn't have a hole in it, maybe a sizeable patch of metal plating or something similar, but not a hole /ooc

ooc: Damn straight

Just a quick note to say I cannot provide a proper post right now since (stealing your excuse here ) I am tired and intoxicated... this week was first week back for uni and well, I got a bit TOO social.

If I do not make it in by next DM, I simply gear up, choose to go on the comms array mission and of course take the whole pot of coffee for myself.

Re: Doom

"Ouch. That bloody hurts."

On his left arm his wounds are now bandaged and merely throbbing, rather than the tedious previous pains shooting occasionally along the limb. Being unable to put faces to the names, or something, he struggles to his feet and tries to find someone he knows, carrying his weapons at all times. Then, the light falls. And hits it's head on the way down.

"I guess we're still on mars then..."

Dropping to his knees, he fumbles with the suits of light armour and removes the small inbuilt canister of oxygen from each of his spares. Tucking them into his combat pockets, he picks up his plasma rifle and flicks the top light on, pointing it around the room. Voices say things, declaring the mission choices from the briefing he obviously missed. Standard, he thought, I got this placement for being deranged and sleeping through a briefing...

When asked, as to what he plans to do, he answers:
"I'll stick with Arlan, he seems like a nice enough chap. Not to mention he remains a civilian, and most definitely needs an escort..."

Re: Doom

Someone was inside of him, poking around. Feeling like giggling, the drugs he had taken himself and the ones he had been given by the Doctor kind of prevented him. So instead, he blinked repeatedly with his eyes. One time was yes, two times was no, three times meant he was giggling, four times indicated he would like a beer... Fortytwo blinks said he was thankful to the pain ebbing away.

Fluffie lost count though. So he settled for around twentysix, meaning he would really care for a smoke. But somehow, somewhere... He felt as if the Doctor wasn't paying attention. Damn surgeons only cared about your intestines, the person you were........

If only he had been a japanese schoolgirl, wearing a just too slutty uniform. And if only the Doctor had been a tentacled monster, lusting for one thing only. If only they had not been on this cursed Mars Base, but in an evil lair, with some kind of icky and nasty goo dripping from the walls and ceiling.

Oh, if only.

How messed up the world would've been, but at least the monster would've given him cigarettes, and most likely lots of them, in return for but one thing. One thing only, but it would not have mattered to give it up - after all, he would be wearing something that just screamed his soul wasn't as pure as his supposed appearance would suggest.

Fluffie suddenly shook his head and opened his eyes. Realising what the **** had been going on, he cursed softly, hardly audible...

"Oh man."

This whole.. situation was getting to him. The drugs had gotten him in their evil grasp of pure nastiness too. Feeling a bit dazed still, he got up and looked around. More people, looking like him. And look, his armour, recharged like hell itself, right there!

Smiling, he put it on. He grabbed his chaingun, making sure the bullets were where they ought to be, double checking it all still worked like a charm. Some voice in his head was telling him about zombies, but he was hoping that were just the drugs still talking. Drugs, no, wait, medication it was.

Yes it was indeed. Fluffie didn't do drugs, cause drugs are baaaaddddd... Bad like horned sheep dancing in a purpe field of sand to synthesised music from Wagner.

He shook his head again.

And again.

Then, he turned and saw this crazy person scream they really ought to get out of there. The lights went out too and seeing someone with a coffee pot, Fluffie ran after him.

Follow the coffee, it sounded like a sensible thing to do.

Re: Doom

Placeholder post for duration up to whenever my computer works properly... hopefully sunday, maybe sooner, maybe later.... maybe quite a while since it looks like a problem with the motherboard.

In the event I go npc, the following guidelines are to be observed.
  • Richard will be taking the assignment to B4, via B2 to collect security card/guns/etc.
  • Richard will unfailingly make a minimum of one sarcastic and/or one blatantly obvious comment to a superior officer during the course of each posting period.
  • Richard will NOT be expecting the sudden loss of lighting and imminant vacation of medical bay - most likely utilising medical bay's bathroom facilities having been interrupted during morning routine.
  • Richard will unfortunately not have time to get used to shooting with replacement muscles so will miss a lot since he's right handed.

Ta.
