Covert Ops intrest thread
Ok, im thinkin about making a thread set in the year 3052 where you all take on the role of a member of an elite killing squad. This squad works together to kill the human/alien enemy with various weapons. This will be realistic, so if a rope happens to be hanging from the ceiling, there better be someone hanging from it dead. The weapons will be in the thread itself, not listed here, but your character can acquire money to buy better weapons and gear.
Please respond if you have any interest at all in this thread. Thankyou for letting me waste time from your precious existences.

I agree; the detailed information is the very reason I joined that other new thread Beyond the known...
It sounds intruiging- but Give Us More!!!

Re: Covert Ops intrest thread
I'd be the infultrator / Sabatour style mercinary
By any chance does this come under the heading of 'Kill Bill' (the Assassin Squad that she kills)

Re: Covert Ops intrest thread
ok well considering my laziness and technical stupiditiess, i cant put an Excel spread on here (tell me how and ill give you every weapon and gadget that has ever graced humankind ). Other then the sheet, i still have to come up with an acctuall story.
The gist of it is that aliens have come and stolen a shipment of weapons capable of destroying Earth. The squad, being u ppl, has to infiltrate the enemy ships/shipyards/ planets and destroy things and research.
I will put more into this, but for now i dont want to tell anything, because it would give away surprises etc.

Make the Excel sheet, register some free webspace at angelfire or geocities or somewhere, and stick it up there.

Re: Covert Ops intrest thread
lol, use Angelfire or Geocities, they are free HTML emplacers.
Or, if you are lucky enough to have a broadband connection, use the free inbuilt FTP they use to place the spreadsheet within. However, it would be easier to place the spreadsheet data into HTML using Macromedia Dreamweaver or Microsoft Frontpage (Dreamweaver more suggested for table designs, layout, data emplacement, etc)
Apart from that, it's all self-learning really

Re: Covert Ops intrest thread
Each person will have 5000 credits to make an agent. You must have a suit, a weapon without ammo and a ranged weapon with ammo. You can have any amount of upgrade for your item (boot etc), but you can only use one at a time. Tell me your guys and i will point out flaws/ok them.
The link doesnt work due to some crap having to do with its host, so i shall painstakingly type it out later.

Re: Covert Ops intrest thread
"File name is invalid" means that you probably have a space in the filename, or an illegal character (such as a &, or a %).
Best to stick to just using lowercase letters, and use a "-" to separate words...
Any problems, PM me on this

Re: Covert Ops intrest thread
If you need it hosted, I just got a good webhost which I'm also using for an excel spreadsheet for my own thread. Send the excel file to [email protected] and I'll have it up within 24 hours (probably shorter, depending on when you send it).
As soon as it goes up, I'd obviously post a neat linkie here so everyone can have a look at it.
oh and unlike what Fishbone says, I'm all for not using spaces at all, all lowercase and nothing other then letters and numbers. Oh and some hosts will allow you to use 20% (if I'm correct) to place a space in the file name

Re: Covert Ops intrest thread
errr... click the attachment button???
I'm assuming you're using (insert any decent e-mail client for windows/macintosh/linux here) so it shouldn't be hard...
If you're using hotmail, it's even easier (tough it take more time, since you have to upload before e-mailing it), just click the attachment button (looks like a paperclip) and select the attachment(s) for the e-mail, then upload them

so far, you may go wild. The acctaul tread will be up soon after your characters come in. If this finally works then my thread will live. This will also open up a floodgate for a massive thread i am constructing.

Re: Covert Ops intrest thread
The problem lies in that websites and HTML readings do not, in fact, recognise xls files (Excell files) nor do they read databases (unless in form of PHP) nor do they read publisher files. You'd need to place the file onto the web and link it onto a HTML page using a simple coder (Macromedia Dreamweaver, Microsoft Frontpage, etc).
Other than that, you'll have to write it out on a .txt file or .html file.

wrong.
Geocities just hates everyone, if you put .xls files on your webspace, they'll think you're using it to back-up your personall files and thus they delete your account.
try making a website over at www.angeltowns.com which is what I use.
Free, no ads, no buggers, but you have to log in at least once every 30 days

Re: Covert Ops intrest thread
Fishbone, he meant that the thread will start not here, but in a new thread named 'Hyperion Missile Crisis'. When this thread has been opened, most probably today, he needs you to post the links in that new thread, ready for people to start creating their characters.
