so i finally saw the whole movie and now im wondering: whats so brilliant about it?
at the very best i would classify it as average, so why do people call it THE sifi-movie?

overrated pile of nonsense with a good ending. If it weren't for the ending people would have ignored it for the steaming heap of brown turd it is underneath it all.

I'd hardly call it overrated.

You have no soul
Or is it Deckard who has no soul? Or does he? Depends on which version you saw

He doesn 't, because that makes for a far better ending.

the book was good.
the film I thought wasn't amazing.
although you are ignoring the deeper issues which it is trying to address.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beans glitter in the darkness at Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die

The line brings to you just how much is lost by mans obsession with destroying these machines. That man will never again see those things, that the machine is in many ways infinitely superior to us, and as such we fear it and want to destroy it, when it could in some ways be much more beneficial to embrace it and work with it.

great.
but the film misses out the bit about the status surrounding live animals, well I think it does.
Can't remember really not seen it for a bit.
Anyway, if I remember rightly this was a large part of the message of the book.
not seen the directors cut I don't think or maybe its the directors cut that I have seen and not the original ?

Alternatively it brings home the finality of death, the fact that all that experience, wonderful memories and important moments are washed aside by death, rendered insignificant.

It's a fine example of Film Noir, as is The Usual Suspects.
Of course, the DC of Blade Runner is infinitely superior.

I actually quite enjoyed it. It ties in with the book quite nicely in a few places.
