Abit Siluro Geforce4 ti4200 64mb

People say this card performs like a ti4400.

It is also relatively cheap for a geforce4 ti4200.

i bought the 128mb one the other day.

so far im impressed.

seems like my pc is a whole new machine (which, considering the heavy upgrading its had recently, i spose it practically is...)

hmm. i read that the extra mem doesn't affect performance much except in certain games which i have no interest in.

but you'd recommend the card ?

for gaming, most definately (i use mine mostly for eve: online)

unless you're thinking of using it for top end games requiring high specs its prolly not worth the extra cash id guess.

but otherwise its a nice card. means i dont have to upgrade for at least 7~8months all being well.

[edit: id also like to take this moment to point out i know **** all about techie type computery stuff, i can only comment on what i see, so far, compared to my old card, what i see is good. id guess thats about the most info you could get from meh in this area ]

I have dual SLI linked ATI 4meg Graphics cards.
It says here on my old spec list.
Are they any good?

I've switched from a TNT2 32mb to a 4200 64MB and its indeed like having an entire new pc

the 4200 64mb is actually FASTER then the 128mb version.

This is due to memory clocks being faster on the 64MB version.

The default Nvidia reference clocks for Ti4200 are

64MB - 250Mhz Core/500Mhz Memory
128MB - 250Mhz Core/444Mhz Memory

the faster the clocks the better in this case.

However, in certain situations in games that use alot of textures or in high resolutions (with or without Anti-Aliasing) the 128mb is an advantage.

Also, there are 128MB cards that will have the same clocks as the 64MB version, it all depends on the manufacturer.

Some are even clocked upto Ti4400 speeds (275Mhz Core/550Mhz Memory)

Now, if its only about £20 more for the 128MB version I'd get it, newer games will undoubtably take advantage of more Vid card mem.

ive got the Abit Siluro GF4 ti4200 128mb card and its brilliant, can run games like Medieval: Viking Invasion with no problems, or slow down at all (even when you have 2,000 men on the screen at once, with full detail turned on) and i havent had any problems with eve yet either.

Sounds great. I just ordered one for 124€ which i think is a steal.
