Forgot to post mine, french, maths, physics, history, geography, applied maths, irish and english (english for us covers everything). ****ing country though, I would have done economics and tech drawing instead of irish and english if they'd let me.

Depends. For a European, China and Japan would constitute the Far East, Iran and India would be the Middle East, and Turkey to Iraq would form the Near East.

I suspect the term 'Middle East' comes from the US, for whom that whole region is the Middle East. There was some explanation from a professor once, I forgot most of the reasoning behind it. But in Assyriology, Mesopotamia is the Ancient Near East.

And there's also some weird logic behind the naming of the subject as Assyriology. Suffice it to say that it doesn't only cover Assyria, but the whole Near East.

GCSE seems a tad pointless because most things were 'compulsory'

however at Alevel i took Economics, History and English Literature along with General Studies

At uni im studying International Politics and Military History. Although i may just change this to a straight 'international politics' course.

From my Ivory Tower (Year 10), I can categorically state that at AS I may or may not be taking Geography, History, Economics, Politics and English. A perfect balance of things GDers tend not to be good with.

I don't think you will be able to align viewpoints with subjects studied but there's a couple of trends. The majority of people seem to have as their main subject of study as either a maths subject (I'll put physics and CS there too) or politics (including international relations and possibly history).

Unsurprising since this was originally a forum for an on-line wargame.

Actually I was looking to view individual characteristics as a result of/ influenced by courses done. One overall thing I've noticed is a tendency towards anti-socialistic viewpoints by people who did more maths based subjects than politics/philosophy based subjects. An interesting indictment on the inevitable nature of rational thinking ;)
