Bates was involved with Chelsea for years , but I think every Chelsea fan agrees, he was never a fan of anyone but himself.

I couldn't care if he skinned children alive.
the man made Chelsea what it is today and is therefore a legend.

The Man nearly drove Chelsea into bankruptcy, and was saved by Matthew Harding, who he then did everything in his power to **** around to maintain his position as Chairman.
The Man is a self obsessed egomaniac. He sold out to Abramovich because yes, it was in the clubs best interests, but also because he did ****ing well financially out of it.

Re: [Dead Guy] One Less Chelsea Fan
How much exactly did Bates get?
As far as I remeber, Chelsea was over 100mill £ in debt at the time. Also, since they had alot of players on really fat contracts (bogarde, lolololol) they also had a negative cash flow.

Less than £20 million I think, around the £16 million mark.

I dunno. They were a publicly listed company, but I dunno how many shares Bates held, or how much Abramovich paid for those shares.
Anyone know where that fact would be located?

Re: [Dead Guy] One Less Chelsea Fan
It's not like he didn't put an money into the club or raise from the ashes to nearly win the Premiership and more trophies than in their entire history.

The beeb claims £17m from the buyout alone, with no mention of a golden parachute.

Banks called one of my mates a twat and told him to shut the hell up during a european economics conference we attended in paris.
He asked a question that he couldnt answer but was rather relevant.
