Trade Routes & Covert op

I'm sure this has been suggested before but I can only find suggestion on trading ships.
How about the ability to trade resources with people It could work one of two ways.

1. Send an request to 4:2:1 to exchange 20000 metal for 20000 crystal.
2. Planet 4:2:1 receives notification of quest in news with a button to accept.

All trade routes would be shown on the mining page or a separate trade page.
You could scan a planet to reveal their trade routes.
You could covert op the trade route stealing all resources inbound to that planet.

How would the trade happen? Would it be instantaneous, or over a period of time? How would it be covert opped? Please expand.

If you're going to implement something like trade routes there are far more interesting ways to do it. Copying and pasting out a paragraph for the vision I wrote up for PA a few years ago

Making them cov-oppable would be a fairly minor addition I guess.

I wouldn't be instant, It would sort of be like a hidden fleet. Certain races could even have eta bonuses.The covert op would function just like any other covert op enter in coordinates and all resources either sent from or sent to those coordinates would be stolen.

I would also add a new feature the ability for your Alliance or gal leader to set a tax on trades.

I would have unlimited trades and would not limit it to galaxy and cluster.

Johhnybgood your way is certainly more verbose and expanded in scope but you seem to be using it more as a way to gain bonuses.
When they implement population then we could maybe trade cash for people.

The cov op for trade route "piratery" should be like sending agents for a number of ticks and they would intercept whatever come their way, otherwise the chance that you do the op on a planet the exact tick it's doing a trade is very very remote.
The other solution is that the trades take x ticks to be completed... any cov op done during that time steals the resources.

The number of Trade Routes you can open should depend on a new building available: Trade Center. OFC you could deal only with planets having also built Trade Centers.
