Re: The old forums were better
Sometimes people come back and when they do they almost always mistakenly think it matters that they were once here long ago, and that we care what they think of the current state of the board.
Other equally irrelevant and non-contributing people then come out of the woodwork to agree, failing to realise that they're partially responsible for the relative drop in activity and that if they actually cared about the board, they'd make worthwhile threads/posts instead.
Hands up if you care what Mirai thinks?

Sadly this is true. Once I was famous and popular around here... no really, I was... but now, I've been gone for half a year or so, the forum went down the shitter and no one notices me. It really shows that internet fame is as valuable as a pluck of pocket fluff.
So instead of trying hard to regain my fame and glory I'm going to have some payback by calling you names for making me waste my time in the past for no more than some bloody pocket fluff. Bastards!

I like the fact that the justification you have for people not noticing you is that the forum is now shit, as is the implication that it's due to your leaving.

Re: The old forums were better
Whatever the cause, this forum is now dull. Very dull. Save the occasional fag flexing his verbal muscle (cough).
Haven´t been here in a while, found nothig of interest, found noone of interest, and probably will end up with negrep.
Yay, whoever runs this debotchery. Be proud.

You circlejerking idiots should stop taking things so seriously, it makes you lose sight of reality.

Well, yes, ofcourse. 1) Everyone wants attention, and 2) yes, I am a valuable forum-asset and forums aren't the same without me.
Also, it doesn't matter what people think of you, the only thing that matters is how awesome you think you are. Though this might seem like a very "head-up-arse"-thing, it does make you feel best. Perhaps a tip for all those emo kids.

I see not everyone needs those [sarcasm]-tags around here.
On a more serious note, did the forum become shitter in the past half year? As far as I see the same ol' stuff is being posted. Well, perhaps more politics and law, so the ratio shifted somewhat, but it hasn't become all shit has it?

Shittier?
Well.. I certainly see fewer threads I find interesting now than I did half a year ago. Both MrLJakeri and Yahwee, who can be really knowledgeable, have been in my oh-so-very-important-opinion less interesting for a while.. and a few of the other ones who write stuff worth reading have been absent'ish. Tocatta makes good rants though.
It's still fairly easy to spot the interesting threads though, (as opposed to the timewasters such as this one), and nobody's forcing anyone to read anything

Re: The old forums were better
Hey, why not use all that energy complaining into either 1) making things better (by creating interesting threads, forcing oldtimers to come back, getting a alittle new blood in etc etc) or 2) ****ing off and doing something better (like having a party, organizing the revolution or get a grip on life) ?

But something has been weighing on my mind.
Who the hell is Mirai? When is this 'old forum' he's missing so much? When the **** did he contribute anything?

too bad all the old threads got deleted; i'd love to see when the first thread complaining about how these boards went to shit was. my guess:
April 2001.

I can remember people complaining the game had gone badly downhill by r3. When I signed up for these forums I can remember people saying the boards were better pre-2001.

yes, the game was so much better in round 1, when there were only two good ships (out of maybe 10),
and round 2, when there was only one ship.
now THAT takes strategy.
'hmmm, should i put all my resources into THE ONLY SHIP THAT DOESN'T SUCK, or should i quit...i know, i'll go on the forums and complain about how much cooler things were when we had important questions like "ratio of destroyers to fighters" to consider'
