MISSION 7

GATHER INTEL

You all look at the mission board of all the missions this pays one of the highest fees also it has the highest DANGER RATING.

For almost 100 years plus the SILVA have proved to be a mystery - why do they live on DEMON WORLDS or HELL PLANETS? This question ahs always eluded the most advanced Scientist, there has always been speculation.

The DEMON CLASS PLANETS are a unique anomaly as they tend to be called WANDERING planets, this makes them hard to track - however one can be found 195 light years away - the problem - you will need to refuel along the way.

the planet is also located in CHRONO BORG SPACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Needless to say your crews are scared at the prospect of travelling to such a place and such a world.

CREW MORALE -10% for whole mission

your ships leave Ankaa for their first part of the journey

Location - Nav Point 1
Distance - 20 light years

"Helm, bring us about but get ready to evade their first salvo. Aernus, shift our shield power to the front. Flight Officer," Marcus pressed down on a button set into the arm of his Captain's Chair, and leant forward, speaking into the microphone on the miniature coms unit, "get Nat and Jerich launched immediately. Have them adopt holding positions above and to either side of us."

"Recieved, sir, launching fighters immediately." Replied the Flight Officer over the radio, his voice crackling slightly from static. Marcus needed to get those internal com lines fixed at the next port..."Falcon 1 and Falcon 2 are in the air, sir." He continued, and Marcus nodded to noone in particular before turning to Alanna, the ship's No1, standing smartly with her hands behind her back behind the padded Captain's Chair and to his left. She in turn inclined her head slightly and looked at him expectantly. She looked slightly anxious which, Marcus reflected, made her a woman with steadier wits than much of the bridge crew.

"Sir?"

"Have you ever seen anything like those things before, Alanna?" Asked Marcus, hoping that the ex-Federation Navy warrant officer would have encountered the like of these things before. He was quickly dissapointed.

"No sir," She replied, "I've never seen anything like that thing. But if they took over two Ninjato Classes like that with no external damage whatsoever, we can safely assume they're dangerous." That, he hadn't needed telling. He turned to look right, at Kyrrick and at Aernus.

"Kyrrick? Aernus? Any ideas?" He asked, still hopeful...again, dissapointment.

"No sir," Said Kyrrick, shaking his head, but concentrated on the displays of his weapon console.

"No idea, Marcus," Aernus said apologetically, "it looked like nothing I've ever seen. What did it say? Take our souls? Almost sounds like something out of one of those fantasy novels..." For some reason, something inside of Marcus told him that the words "fantasy novels" were of particular importance in that sentence. But why...he was struck by an idea. Pressing another button down on the armrest of his chair, he spoke again into the half-hidden microphone.

"Colonal? Are you recieving?" He asked, after Tashida Iyoda, the ex-Clan ship's Marine Captain. He'd been looking for the Clan for a long time - this was probably not the reunion he envisioned.

"Sir," Came the reply, Iyoda's voice like granite even over the coms, "I heard reports we are engaging Clan warships! What is the meaning of this?" Marcus did not doubt for a second that, if indeed he had engaged Clan warships crewed by living Clan citizens, Iyoda would be attempting to storm the bridge in short order.

"Calm down, Colonal," He said, trying to keep his words as concise as possible to save time, "we are being attacked by Clan warships, but they're not under Clan control." Marcus turned to Lora, still holding the armrest button down. "Lora, send that return message from the warships down to the Colonal." She nodded, silently acnkowledging the order, and within seconds Marcus heard an odd sound from the other end of the line - somewhere between surprise and cold, dark rage. Resolute, Marcus continued over the top of it. "Iyoda, your people have a better knowledge of legend and myth than do I, and that thing certainly seemed like something out of legend to me. Are there any records of such creaturs that you saw in Clan archives?" He asked. The Clan's origins lay thousands of years before, in the days of magic and battles of good and evil on old Harkun. There was always a chance, the slightest chance, that they'd encountered this creature in those ancient times...

Summary
-Weapons powered up.
-Helm to bring the ship about, ready to attack, but to anticipate initial enemy salvo.
-Fighters launched, ordered to holding positions above and to either side of the Fortuna.
-Tashida Iyoda, the ship's ex-Samurai Marine Corps Colonal, asked if he recalls anything in old Clan legend that sounds like these creatures.

"Which means they're not liable to be here for a social call." Kane mused.
"Technicals?"

Aki paused for a moment and then a technical schematic of the other ships appeared on the monitor.

"Looks like they've made some modifications to the original design." she said frowning slightly.

"Open a channel," Kane paused, "Unidentified Vessels. State your intent..." The reply was nothing but static. "I guess that rules out making some friends... Fire a warning shot, all phaser banks, show them we mean business and repeat the transmission."

"Aye aye sir." came the brisk responce.

The ship vibrated almost imperceptibly as the pulse phaser banks fired a single shot simultaneously, the beams flowering out from the ship and passing harmlessly by the enemy vessels.

"If those fighters try anything then open fire with the Pulse Phasers. Target their engines should the opportunity arise." Kane announced suddenly.

Summary
- Weapons and Shields Powered Up.
- Weapons locks established on ALL "enemy" vessels (Assuming they've launched their fighters; otherwise it's less impressive)
- Sent transmission requesting identity and intent of "enemy" vessels.
- Fired a warning shot, 1 shot from each phaser bank.
- Repeated Transmission.
- Will fire pulse phasers at the fighters if they try anything.

"Incoming! Three destroyer class ships on an intercept course!" The SO looked up from his console towards the Exarch. His eyes narrowed as the view on the main screen changed to show the incoming threat.

"Give me detail scans on them. Prepare to engage."

The shields of the Dagger's Touch flickered to life, breifly visable as the four phase shields boosted up. The gunports opened. The four disruptors emerged form the forward hull of the ship. *Flapjack carefully examined the stellar maps, hoping to discover some hint as to which system would have the Devorran planets in them*

Flapjack: "Helm, set a course for the third system, I want to know what's causing those gravitational fields, EO, see if you can find a way to refuel from the natural resources we might encounter, TO, if we come across any hostile species, we'll need a battle plan so start on it. No1, where is the closest refueling location?"

Helm: "Aye sir, we're under way."

EO: "I'll get right on it, but don't count on any miracles."

TO: "Okay sir, I'll have a battle plan ready, just in case."

No1: "I'll get out the navigational charts and plot a course from the third system."

Re: Andromeda Pirates - (New Beginnings)

* Phelicia woke up from her desk at the incessant noise that was coming through the commsystem. As she opened her eyes, she noticed that something was sticking to her face. As she removed it, it turned out to be the newest issue of 'Pirates Unlimited' a magazine she's bought at Ankaa because it had looked interesting and it had all the latest gossip about pirates in it. She'd been reading an article about some guy they called 'Fluffie the Damn Pirate Slayer' before she fell asleep. She then accessed the commsystem.

Phelicia: "Yes? What is it?"
No1: "We're picked up a distress call from a ship about 3 lightyears from here. Also, we've picked up energy readings from weapons' fire. They appear to be 150% above normal levels. Captain Killer thinks these are the ships we're looking for and he's already altered course."
Phelicia: "Really? That's interesting. You do the same. Put the ship on full alert. And have all the senior officers report to the bridge on the double. I'll be right there myself."
No1: "Aye captain!"

* The ship went to alert status and on her way to the bridge, Phelicia saw up and about to perform their duty. She smiled; it'd still be a while before the crew would've been turned into the well oiled machine she'd like it to be, but she'd comea long way already since her father died, a very long way indeed. Several minutes later, Phelicia entered the bridge. All her officers were already there, waiting. Phelicia walked to her chair, sat down in it, and addressed her officers: "Right then. I've called you all here because this is going to be the first battle where we'll completely do things my way and I want to be sure that we're all working together as a team here, something that did not always happen under my father's command." She silently inspected her officers one by one:

First of all there was Quentin Argyle, her first in command. He was a moderately handsome young man with a keen mind. He'd studied at the Imperial War Academy for a few years and there had been a brillaint career laid out for him in the Imperial Navy, but a few months before graduation, Quentin was framed for a very serious theft and since he had never been able to prove himself innocent, he'd been booted from the Academy. Not knowing what else to do, Quentin turned to pirating. Initially starting off as a weapon's officer, Quentin quickly rose to the rank of commander due to his excellent skills.

Then there were Phoebe, her Tactical Officer and Nathalie, her Science Officer. Phoebe was a little on the short side, but her attitude more than made up for this, whereas Nathalie was a rather quiet person that didn't show you much of herself until she really got to know you.

Next in line was Meg Morigan, or 'Mad Meg' as she was more often called. When it came to piloting, Meg was beyond ace. There were precious little things that she didn't know how to fly. She was called 'Mad Meg' because she got really excited during dangerous situations, especially if she got the opportunity to show off her skills.

After Meg came Barney Johnson, the Arms Master. Barney was totally in love with fire arms. He had given the name Betty-Sue to his own customized laser rifle and he even slept with it. He knew virtually everything about hand weapons and often instructed the troops on them.

Next to Barney stood his collegue and commanding officer Ursula Stallion. Ursula was nearly 7' tall and had a very muscular build due to rigorous physical exercise. The look in her eyes was always that of someone on the verge of going completely mental with a chainsaw. Rumour had it that her fiance had left her waiting at the altar at the very last moment and that made her so angry that she hunted him down and tore him apart limb for limb with nothing but her bare hands and making sure that he was conscious enough to witness his own head being pulled off after which she burned his remains and danced on the ashes being completely naked while singing. She was in charge of all the troops aboard the ship and commanded respect from them, because she wasn't the type of person that you should look at in a funny way.

Then there was Frymuch Leetdude III. He was the grandson of Frymuch Leetdude and Laura Xavier who had both served Phelicia's parents during their time. Frymuch was a natural born fighter pilot, and he did a wonderful job at training them, but what nobody was able to quite understand, was how someone like Frymuch Leetdude I could ever have gotten a grandson that made such an excellent wingcommander in just 2 generations.

There was Communications Officer 'Peanutbutter'. He got his name because as a baby, he had been left behind on the doorstep of a monastary and ever since the abbot himself had looked at his hand after having lifted him out of his basket and had exlaimed 'Peanutbutter?' that had been his name. One night, when he was older, Peanutbutter had run away from the monastary and he'd hidden himself aboard a spaceship. The people that found him were very nice people and they trained him as a communications expert. After serving aboard several vessels, he was hired by Phelicia and became part of her crew.

A little out of place was the figure of Igor, the ship's medical doctor. He was a pale, bald man with a hunch and a limp. His body looked as if it had been assembled from various parts of at least 3 other people, but he was one of the best surgeons in the galaxy and his anatomical knowledge was unrivalled.

And finally, there was George l'Oven. He was the only person from her father's original crew that was still alive, although he was more machine than man now. As parts of his body got damaged from accidents or during battle or just gave up due to old age, l'Oven had them replaced by artificial implants. This had never really bothered him since he'd been born deaf and had spent his entire life walking around with 2 large discs on his head which had earned him the nickname 'Mickey'. Phelicia wasn't bothered by the man's robotic appearance. The guy was simply pure magic in the engine room and his cyborg nature only enhanced his already stunning abilities.

Just as she was about to continue, she saw a fat figure dressed in a red and white suit with bells on it enter the brdige. It was carrying a small decorated tree. Her left eye started to twitch.

Phelicia: "WHAT the..? Alizandro??"
Alizandro: "Hiya sis!"
Phelicia: "What is the meaning of this? Why are you wearing that ridiculous suit? And is that a pillow you got stuffed in there? Why are you acarying a tree around? No! Don't answer that! Just go away! We have serious things to discuss here. If I wanted to be entertained by a clown, I'd have sent for you!"
Alizandro: "But..."
Phelicia: "Butt? Yes, you're the butt of everyone on the ship, aren't you? Now you go away this instant!"
Alizandro: "I just..."
Phelicia: "Guards! Guards! Remove this clown from my bridge at once and flog him to his quarters and make sure he stays there!

* The general hubbub that was caused by a couple of guards that dragged Alizandro off the bridge, ended abruptly under the cold stare of Phelicia's icy-blue eyes. She moved a lock of her fiery red hair that was hanging before her eye over her ear and resumed her speech.

Phelicia: "Now then, where were we? Oh yes, I remember. We'll have a fight on our hands real soon and I'm sure you'll all do your utmost best, but that's not enough. I want this crew to be efficient; the whole must be greater than the sum of its parts. Is that understood?"
All present: "Yes Captain Bogg!"
Phelicia: "Good, you may now all return to your stations."

* When they had all gone back to their stations, Phelicia had a look at the message and then discussed it with commander Argyle.

Phelicia: "That definately does sound like our target. If those ships are really enhanced with Kylithium, then this is going to be a very tough battle, even with the help of whatever firepower that attacked convoy might have. Got any ideas?"
No1: "I might, but I'm not sure it'll work."
Phelicia: "Do tell."
No1: "Well, our scanners, they're pretty sophisticated and they have a much longer range than most other ships. We should be able to scan the sector before we actually arrive at the scene."
Phelicia: "Hmm, yes, knowing the tactical situation beforehand is of course, useful, but I don't see how that will make things easier for us?"
No1: "Well, according to the reports, our target has 3 ships and convoys are mostly made up of several ships, so in order for them to prevent any ships from escaping, their ships cannot be too close together, but must instead be a fair bit apart to guard the entire area."
Phelicia: "That makes sense, so what do you propose?"
No1: "What I propose is, that we use our advanced scanners to determine the positions of the enemy ships, select the one that's the farthest away from the other 2 and then drop out of hyperspace really close to them, fire all our weapons and launch all fighters. If the other captains do the same thing, we might be able to surprise them and disable one of their ships before it has a chance to fire."
Phelicia: "Hm, we don't have much when it comes to weapons, but a massive barrage of EMP missiles will surely drain enough of their shield and systempower in order for The Trinidad and The Levelant to finish it off. That'd make it 3 against 2. I like those odds a lot better. Sounds like a good plan to me, let's do it."

No1: "Nathalie, you're our scanning expert. I must determine the position of the enemy ships as soon as they are within scanning range and then find out which one of them is the farthest away from the other two, and then you will give that position to Meg. Meg, you'll bring as close to the enemy ship as possible so that Phoebe here can fire all of our missiles into the enemy ship and then you'll move the ship away again. Phoebe, you will arm all missile batteries and fire ALL of them into the enemy ship at close range and raise the shields. Remember, this is going to be a surprise attack, you won't have a lot of time getting a lock, so be quick and don't look for any vulnerabilities, just hit them where you can."
Phoebe (WO): "Yes Commander."
Mad Meg Morigan (Helm): "Ayaye Sir!"
Nathalie Williams (SO): "There is one problem Sir; although our scanners are pretty advanced, I might not be able to get accurate scans from this distance without giving away our presence."
No1: "The ships' configurations aren't that important yet. It's their positions that matter. You think you can get their positions without them detecting us?"
SO: "Yes Sir, that should be possible."

Phelicia: "Bridge to engineering."
George l'Oven (EO): "l'Oven here captain."
Phelicia: "I want you to take our AMD3 and AFD3 systems offline and reroute all the available power to the shields, we will need them in case the enemy ship is still able to get a shot across.
EO: "Aye Ma'am, consider it done."

No1: "Miss Stallion, if all of goes as planned, we will require to board the enemy vessels. It will be your job to form a boarding party. Have Barney, from the armoury, help you in determining what weapons will be best suited for the job and then report to the Assault Shuttle in hangar bay 3."
Ursula Stallion (MC): "Aye Sir. I've got two companies of highly trained Shock Troopers for just this occasion."
No1: "Excellent."

Phelicia: "Mr. Leetdude, what's the status of our fighters?"
Frymuch Leetdude III (WC): "All pilots have boarded their crafts and are waiting for the green light, captain. I've looked at your plan and taken the liberty to split them into groups and assigned a primary objective to each of them. The Jupiters are the largest group have been designated Alpha Squadron. They will fulfill the role of bombers and attack the enemy capital ships. The Slipstream Fighters are Beta Squadron and they are to provide escort for the Jupiters in Alpha Squadron. The Light Alpha Class Fighters are Gamma Squadron. They're nimble and fast and they must establish fighter superiority in case there are enemy fighters. If not, their role will be the same as that of Beta Squadron.
Phelicia: "Very well, all fighters are to be launched as soon as we arrive."
WC: "Yes Ma'am, understood!"

No1: "I have ordered the damage control teams to standby in case we take any damage and told them to repair things immedately. I've also informed Igor in sickbay and he says he's as ready as can be to treat any injuries."
Phelicia: "Excellent, that takes care of that then. Mr. Butter, send a message over to The Trinidad and The Levelant to inform them of our plans and ask them to do the same thing. We will provide them with the necessary scans and hyperspace exit coordinates. Now let's just hope they'll agree with us."
Peanut Butter (Comms): "Yes captain, message sent."
No1: "I'm sure they'll agree to our plans. It's risky, but there's too little time to come up with a better plan and if this plan works, it'll be 3 to 2 in our advantage and I bet that's too good an opportunity for them to miss out on."
Phelicia: "I hope you're right."

------------------------
ACTIONS:

- use advanced scanners to determine positions of enemy ships BEFORE we exit hyperspace.
- once positions are determined, pick the once that's the farthest away from the 2 other ships, drop out of hyperspace really close to it and fire ALL available missiles (4*20 EMP missiles + 6*6 gravatic missiles) into the (hopefully surprised) enemy ship.
- immediately raise shields and take AFD3 and AMD3 offline to boost the shield strength before the enemy is able to do a possible retaliation.
- fighters are split up in 3 groups:
-Alpha Squadron: 70 Jupiter Class -> bombers; attack capital ships.
-Beta Squadron: 12 Slipstream Fighters -> escort; protect bombers.
-Gamma Squadron: 20 Light FIghters Alpha Class -> fighter superiority.
- all fighters are launched upon arrival.
- boarding parties are standing by in case the opportunity to board something arises.
- sickbay (and MASH) and ADCT teams are standing by to repair and heal where and when this is necessary.
- other captains are informed of the plan and provided with scanner information and are explicitly asked to join in for a greater chance of success.

Occ/wish i knew more on the systems but i go first system/Occ

Alexander was still on the brige after there encounter with meteor shower. He didn't like being off the brige when it happened so he was looking forward to getting there and back. The scans of the two systems near by at the fifth way point came on his chairs consoul.

"Okay helm lay in a course for the first system, comms appraise the Otrider of the cordinates. Number One, we will probably need more fuel i want you to find a station wecould stop at on our way back and refuel. Get to work every one."

*Cid was waiting patiently on his bridge chair, trying to figure out how the heck to finally finish the rubex cube he had been working on since he was a lad. Stangly enouch he had completed three sides, all on one corner edge, but was unable to finish the other sides without muddling his already finish corner.*

Comms: Cap'n.

*Cid looked up abruptly towards his Communications Officer, a Besilon woman called Lavetide Gurade, placing his rubex cube aside. Lavetide was one of those officers you can never imagine without a uniform as she was never seen without it and, bazaarly enough, only has one set of casual clothes stored away.*

Cid: What is it, Lav?
Comms: We're receiving a message from Captain Bogg, sir.
Cid: Direct it to my chair comm-link.
Comms: Aye, Cap'n.

*Cid read Bogg's proposal for a strike and smiled, leaning back a little and placing his fingers on his chin.*

Cid: Alisti!
SO: Sir?
Cid: I want you to scan the area we are going to, pinpoint all three of the hostile vessels and then get co-ordinates for the furthest one away from the other two.
SO: Wont that make us detected?
Cid: Try to scan as anonimously and as stealthily as possible. Opicos!
Helm: Sir?
Cid: Get ready for new co-ordinates to exit hyperspace.
Helm: Aye, sir.

*Cid stood up and walked down the ailse towards the front veiwscreen, picking up his slightly warm coffee and taken a few sips as he reaches the window.*

Cid: I hope she's right about this...

Re: Andromeda Pirates - (New Beginnings)

From light carrier to command carrier is quite a large step up. I doubt the 3 of us would be able to take it on even without those 2 attack destroyers, but we gotta deal with them too (what's their configuration anyway?) and you're talking about enhanced kylithium weapons as well? Hell, we still would've been in big trouble if we still had our dreadnaughts and concords from the previous Andromeda and you're expecting us to take on this stuff with a simple fleet carrier and 2 cruisers???
This is just impossible!!

This is just impossible!!
you are not thinking about this correctly -

you can take them on

to make it simple i will not put things in that are "impossible" - you need to look at the post for the clues - to point it out and thus take away the fun here you go

the mission is split into two parts

A - attack by the two other ships on the convoy - you can take them out quite easy as you would outnumber them

you then take over the two ships provided they have not been blown out of the water

the merchants then reward you - as they are carrying ship parts and weapons you could upgrade

you then repair wht damage on the other two ships or use them as bomb ships to ram the command carrier

B - is to then take on the command carrier with whatever forces you have

Mission completed

hope this spoils it for you

next time read the posts - DO YOU EVER THINK that I would make a mission impossible

Re: Andromeda Pirates - (New Beginnings)

I do not think you would make a mission impossible, which is why I was wondering about this one. I actually do read the posts you know. Which is how I noticed that the attack destroyer and merchant ships' configurations are missing (e.g. we cannot yet make an effective plan to attack them). Also, that command carrier is on an intercept course and closing in fast. I'm not sure what 'fast' entails in this case, but that doesn't exactly make me think things like "oh we have ample time to take out these 2 powerful ships first without anything bad happening to us, take them over, repairing all the damage done to our ships over a nice mug of hot cocoa with the leader of the convoy as he once again expresses his gratitude and tells us that he must really be on his way again before that big command carrier that was closing in so fast somewhere around last week and that massive amount of fighters and gunships and attack shuttles that would be able to cross the distance a lot quicker, actually arrive", but just call me stupid, cos that's what everybody else does.

Anyway, I seem to have annoyed you, and I'm sorry for that. I can see that my previous post may have been a little premature. So please accept my apologies and let's be friends again, ok?

EDIT: Hey, why not take it out on me in Kama's cluedo thread? After all, you did promise that you'd play. I just know it was you that killed poor Master Black with a in the cellar.

*Somewhat belatedly, PK reacts to the appearance of the Chrono Borg.*

"Raise Meta-Phasic shields! Engage all three meta shielding boosters. I want all weapons to fire in one concentrated burst. We're probably not going to get much more than this shot, so make it count. Find a weak point and blast it with the ten Phaser 4s and the six quantum torpedoes. Hopefully we can do some damage before they adapt. Science and AEB, get us a way to defeat their chrono systems, quickly! Then start going evasive, and charge the linear and black hole drives."

(I should stop putting price tags on my designs, they're crushing too many dreams)

"I guess I was a little niave thinking this might be so simple..."

*Kama stood on the bridge of the Farore, a PC Ldr, with as much calm as possible, she motions to the crew.

"Bring us back to full power, I won't have us caught unready... Comms, signal the convoy."

The simulations they had run, weren't to account for such larger predators, but the small fleet moved themselves into standard position.

"That isn't some deck swabbing regular thief ship No.1, are these scans accurate? Hmm, well nothing else for it.

Din,,, Nayru,,, (my other two ships) follow our lead, cover the convoy from the encroaching flank..

Helm, turns us to face them... Let's see what they want..."

*Kama nods to the commstation, who opened a channel. She stepped forward and stared down the viewscreen, gripping her wrists tightly behind her back.

"This is the commander of the aid convoy you're approaching, is there something we can help you with?"

*Thinking back to the briefing, the Doras system wasn't exactly near the galactic metropolis, but the jump points they had charted weren't enemy territory either.

*The Nayru had been designated science aid for this treck and so, would be analysing the scans on this area of space, it'd be nice to know where they were, just in case.

Summary
Switching systems from FTL transit mode.
All key systems brought back online.
Shields are charging.
Weapons are hot, but notably too small to require much charge time

Suspiciously question approaching cruiser.
Our three escort vessels to stand between them and the merchants.
Compare region of space, with star charts - identify area.

Mood, rookie nerves.

Request information on the Linear "pulse"? (Offensive capability of the drive. Effect on next FTL jump.)

Re: Andromeda Pirates - (New Beginnings)

Ah, behold! A miracle! I have named my ship, oh yes. From now on, you shall refer to her, with fear creeping through your every vein, as the Alpaca Horde. Failure to comply shall result in my finally persuading LH to let me kill people (= players) in Rommey and then tracking you down like the cheap bitches you are! Huzzah!

Anyhow, for a post, eh.

//

Fluffie had finally managed to free himself from his shower. He had managed to get dressed and make his way to the bridge, where a rather cute Comms girl was looking at him with a bit of a weird look on her face.

Oh...

Her eyes widened as she recalled what she had heard earlier, on her way to the bridge to report to loyal and most serving duty, when she had walked past the Captain’s quarters.

My...

Her eyes stopped widening and returned to their normal size, but Fluffie could see the damage was done. She had heard it, how his sexually very wrongly programmed AI had abused him (again). It never was pretty, even his friends knew that, but for a new crewmate. The horror, the terrible and sudden jerking about of your before quite friendly view on the world, the universe.

God...

She looked fine. No, she didn’t. Calling her so would be a most grievious insult Fluffie figured. She looked more than fine, she looked... quite alright. Fantastic. Good. Superbly. Perfect. But chances were that she wouldn’t talk to him outside of all this formal and official ship commanding stuff. The mighty yet at the moment at a total loss captain looked up at the ceiling, the rusty, not very comforting ceiling. Fighting back the tears, he took in a deep breath and continued on, heading for his chair.

BEEEEEEEPPPPPP [know what, i’m sober again]

Fluffie gave his proud droid a thumbs up, though not a very happy one. R2 considered asking what was wrong, but he had logged into the ship earlier and knew about the... accident... that his master and commander had with and in his shower. He figured that while usually the fella managed to survive quite easily, even he had to break sometime. He was, after all, merely human. Hoping the damn fool wouldn’t break down during work hours, the droid beeped an equilavent to a beeping sigh and returned to watching his station, awaiting orders.

The cap’n fell down in his chair, trying not to look too much as if he was sobbing. Another relation ruined, even before he had started it. Oh, cruel, cruel universe. He sighed. And again. A final time, he sighed. Life was a bitch. Looking up with that thought in mind, he tapped a button in his chair, opening a channel to engineering.

”Ed, fire her up.”

He dared not look at her as he spoke. He would like to, to the cute uniform and the body it nearly perfected.

“Comms, tell Ankaa we’re leaving and set a rendez-vous point with the Fortuna for our jump.”

”...sir.”

What she was thinking, must’ve been horrible. He didn’t have the singlest clue to the terrible monster he must be in her eyes.

ROAARRR [hang on, activating main drives]

Seconds later, the whole ship started shaking. At the same time, a rather strange a disturbing sound came from engineering, audible throughout the entire ship. Raising an eyebrow and about to press the button to open the comms channel to his EO again, a giant burping sound introduced the end of the shaking. The Alpaca Horde hovered inside it’s hangar now, awaiting the so called “all green” from Ankaa Control.

Fluffie looked at the cute comms girl, half looking away in shame. She gave him a single nod, answering his unasked question. Turning his head to look back at the viewscreen, Fluffie spoke again, this time to his Helmsma..droid.

“R2, take us out.”

And so the droid did. Suprisingly smoothly, the destroyer left the hangar, gliding into outer space, feeling the soft touch of the zero G enviroment against her bare hull. Expecting his AI to comment on this, Fluffie was suprised when Lotte didn’t.

All for the better. He didn’t know if he could take it now, not with...

He sighed again.

And so time passes. Meeting up with their fellow brave adventures aboard the Fortuna, they jointly jump several times, until two frigates suddenly appear on the horizon, approaching on attack speed!

“Red alert.”

With a typical Star Trekky sound, all crews were ordered to their battle stations. Shields were raised, the mighty Phaser 9 was activated. Lotte [Note: Who, if allowed, will be both WO and TO] was woken up (she had been suprisingly quiet so far) and ordered to think of any strategies and firing solutions that would be most effective against these two suprisingly nasty looking ships.

”We’re detecting communications between the Fortuna and the two vessels.”

”The Fortuna is also readying itself for battle though...”

Is this a trap?

The thought crossed Fluffie’s mind, but the man he had met didn’t seem like a backstabber. He’d trust his instincts and assume that they would fight on the same side, together, if this was going to result in combat.

“Form up with the Fortuna, R2.”

BeeEEEeep [aye aye]

He pressed the little button on his chair again. [Note: The Wookiee’s name is Ed.]

“Ed, try and squeeze every last bit out of our drives, m’kay? Looks like we’re going to need it. K?”

ROAARR ROARRRAARRRR [i ****in’ told you we should’ve taken out a loan.]

“Yeah, but this was supposed to be easy, remember?”

RAARRR [damn fool. i’m not going to share life pods with you this time damnit.]

“Fine, fine.”

Luckily, no-one else spoke or understood Wookiee aboard the ship. Well maybe Lotte and R2 did, but they knew Ed was joking. Looking around his bridge to make sure they all were just working along like nice little crewmates, Fluffie found the Comms Girl looking at him.

Crap****.

She spoke Wookiee too. He should’ve known... she was, after all, a Comms Officer, which meant that she was supposed to be able in quite, some, languages.

“It was a joke, you know?”

”...erh.... ok... sir..”

She looked down at her console, not looking at Fluffie anymore. Fluffie cursed some more in his mind. This was all, going, badly.

”Sir, in formation with the Fortuna. Weapon and shields charging, drives as ready as they are ever going to be. Your orders?”

“Try to figure out their first move and make sure we’re not hit. If they open fire, give the closest one a taste of our Phaser 9. And get the Fortuna on the phone.”

*kzzchhk*

”This is the Alpaca Horde. No Dachi, do you know... who these people are? And am I correct in my assumption that they are going to be, ahem, unfriendly?”

SUMMARY OF DOOOOOOOOMMMM
Jumped in.
Charged/Charging weapon/shields/(combat) drive.
Trying to predict first move, then try to evade it.

If they shoot, shoot back.

SO: Cap'n, scanning reports are in. Two attack destroyers and twenty fighters are attacking the merchants and there is a Command Carrier closing in fast.
Cid: We have a little time to take out the destroyers before the carrier arrives, best make use of it. Get ready to take the destroyers head on, rip them apart!
No1: With what?

*Cid thought about this for a little while, scratching his chin.*

Cid: Leave hyperspace, launch all our Jupiter ships and take out the enemy fighters in Claw formations for better attack pecentages. The Levelant will open all pulse phaser fire onto the nearest destroyer, acompanied by an EMP missile.
WO: Aye, sir.
WC: Sending formation and attack plans now, sir.
Cid: When the fighters are gone, the jupiter fighters are to then make attack runs onto the destroyer we will be attacking.

*Cid scratched his neck a little.*

Cid: Keep the main cannon charging for now, we may need to blast these destroyers if we cannot take them over for further use against that Carrier.
No1: We may need to do that sir, the weapons on this ship may not be enough without a full-on shot from the Particle Cannon.
Cid: We could use it to knock out sheilds and take out some ship components.

*Cid, still staring out of the veiwscreen, sighed and walked back to his chair, sitting down and raising his arm. It was then that Kosaga spotted the significant details of the Carrier heading this way.*

Cid: I say we take out the attack destroyers, get the merchants out of this area and then fall back for a second strategy. I am not sending a single Cruiser and a Carrier up against Gatekeeper-Class Carrier vessels. They are too well-protected for smaller vessels to take on.

*Cid looked around to Kosaga.*

Cid: However those destroyers seem like they could help take it on. Shoot to disable, lets capture those attack destroyers and turn it's Kylithium-enhanced powers onto it's own fleet leader.

*Cid raised his arm as he looked at the stellar map near his right shoulder.*

Cid: Exit... now!

Jupitors to engage enemy fighters

Re: Andromeda Pirates - (New Beginnings)

I'm a bit in the dark as to the current situation now. Are we still in hyperspace and able to exit it near the destroyers and fire at them as was my previous plan? Or is this a new situation where everyone's in the system, with the cargoships and attack destroyers somewhere in the middle and we and the carrier are on the edges? And like how many posts will it be before the carrier comes within weapons' range?

Effect on next FTL jump.)
post done
actions noted

linear pulse is an area effect weapon - good against multiple targets crap against one target - it uses the ftl drives as a weapon causing hull stress on teh enemy ships by use of sub space eddies.

NEW INFO

Race - WRAITH

Said to be as old as time or legends began, this race has given rise to all the old supernatural tales from

Ghosts
Vampyres
Nosferatu
Undead
Zombies
etc

what is known that they are a race of a form of enegery that can only be described as ANTI ENERGY (not anti matter) and that they live off positve enegery (ie life enegery). They are known to most races in one form of legend or another, they seem to have no other purpose other than to feed. Humans being a major source of nourishment to them - 1 human can provide them with enough energy for days. they are known to travel in small fast light ships no bigger than police cruiser sized. Their ships are not FTL capable (very strange for a race that is millions of years old) however the ships that they have only have a limited range - their maon form of travel is in huge CITY SHIPS (about the size of an SDF class ship) these vessels are FTL capabale and can travel vast distances.

they have one goal - to feed, and this they do by scouting out other life forms and finding their planets.

they have one known weakness - LIGHT.

Anyhow, for a post, eh.

//

NOTE FOR FLUFF AND ND

Marcus ship's SO has scanned an unknown vessel some 20 light years away of huge dimensions (26km long) - status indicates that the ship is not moving.......

SO suggests that you launch a probe to scan closer as it should nogt be detected.

Cid: Exit... now!

Re: Andromeda Pirates - (New Beginnings)

I didn't realise it was DM time already. I'll try to come up with a post today, but most of what I wanted to do was already in my previous post. (Or have all those missiles (there were a LOT) that I fired at them already been taken into account? (If so, remind me not to buy EMP and gravatic missiles again. )

Re: Andromeda Pirates - (New Beginnings)

"Enemy vessels are targeting the Troth sir. They've opened fire! Troth reporting forward shields are down by 5%"

"Seems like someone doesn't want these negotiations to go ahead. Return the favour. Target the lead destroyer and fire. SO, start a full range of scans on the destroyers. I want to know everything and anything about them. Comms, open me a channel to the Troth

The Captain of the Troth's face appeared on the small personal view screen of Tsariach's console.

"Captain. I suggest you start making a run for it. Quickly. Try to keep out of the weapon's range of the destroyers. We'll handle it from here."

The Exarch cut the comm channel after the Captain's reply. He looked up at the main view screen covering the end of the bridge. The three destroyers were closing in fast.

"Tactical. Find out how we can use our blackhole generators against those ships. It might prove useful if we can."

"Sir. Weapons in range!" The Weapons Officer called exicitedly from his console.

"Good. Fire!"

The four disruptors burst to life as they fired off their leathal blasts of green blobs of energy, which tore through space and slammed into the forward section of the lead destroyer.

"I think that might have got their attention..."

-=Summary=-
- Fire Disruptors (x4) at the lead destroyer (targeting their forward shields)
- Boost weapons and shields from spare power
- Request info on using black hole generators as a weapon.
- Tell the Troth to run from the incoming destroyers
- Actively scan the enemy shippies.
- PPC Charging (1 Post remaining)

ooc: Ack, this post is probably going to be so bad it hurts... well maybe not as much as when I paid homage to the porcellin gods on christmas or when the world started spinning as we were doing 120 down the freeway on new years but yeah I think you get the idea.

*There was no false bravdo on Hewitt's ship, when he saw that large futuristic block of death arrive on the scene Calrissian's eyes went so wide the whites almost squeezed out the puples.*

Hewitt: "Helm! Get us out of here, NOW!"

Helm: "But sir, I can't. The phase drives need time to power up again."

Hewitt: "Then keep us away from that thing!! Launch all our fighters and have them form a protective shield around us."

*Hewitt storms over to the viewscreen trying to figure out just wtf to do to get out of this mess i just had to gamble didn't I?*

SO: "Captain. If I may suggest sir our ship is equiped with an advanced array of sensor and commuciations gear. If you permit, I can perform quite a thorough scan on the enemy cube in order to obtain important imformation regarding the vessels vunerablities... all things considered sir our most likely only option for survival would be to disable or destroy the enemy vessel in some way."

Hewitt: "Fine, fine... do it. While your at it have the weapons officer assist you in this task. He is the one in charge of blowing things up after all."

SO: "Aye sir."

*Hewitt continues to stare blankly at the screen as the WO runs over to the SO's desk as she commences her search. Both seem eager to be hero's and save the day some how... green, fresh out of the academy no doubt. Having made his own decisions Hewitt stands up straight and takes a deep breath, ready to take on the responsblities of command yet again.*

Hewitt: "Ok, people. Let's try to stay alive on this one. Helm move us into a support position behind the other ships and be ready to dodge whatever that thing throws at us. All fighters are to remain with us out of attack range until the SO and WO figure out how to kill that thing *points at the viewscreen* . As for the rest of you... hang on. This is gonna be a bumpy ride."

((summary paragraph))
*And with that, the Athena launches her fighters (defensive pattern around the carrier), raises her shields and moves in behind the other ships while the SO and WO scan and re-scan the borg cube in an continued effort to find some information of use.*

”This is the Alpaca Horde. No Dachi, do you know... who these people are? And am I correct in my assumption that they are going to be, ahem, unfriendly?”
"Sir," Said Lora, the Fortuna's Communications Officer, "I have an incoming hail from Lieutenant Commander Solo. I am forwarding it to the communications viewscreen." Moments later, Fluffie's face appeared on the communications viewscreen - tall and narrow, designed to show a portrait of whoever was hailing the ship, and positioned to the right of the main viewscreen which was currently showing the incoming Asanawa Clan frigates. Lora's report had been unnecessarilly formal as far as Marcus' was concerned, but what little protocol there was on the Fortuna dictated that the crew act disciplined when commanders of other ships were able to hear or see what was going on. Out of one ear, Marcus heard Kyrrick give a weary sigh and draw himself up to stand more smartly at his console. The banker turned his attention to the communication viewscreen, and listened while Fluffie posed his question.

"Ah, yes," He replied steadily, "we can safely assume these things are unfriendly. Coms," He turned to look at Lora again, "forward that message we recieved from one of the ships to the Alpaca Horde."

"Aye sir." Replied the girl, keying in the relevant commands. Marcus continued speaking to Fluffie as they waited for the recording to get to the other ship.

"As you can see, their intention doesn't appear to be peaceful. And I think we can safely assume they're quite dangerous since-" Marcus' command chair toned in over the sound of his voice, glancing down at the right armrest of his seat, Marcus saw that the button for communication with the Marine Headquarters in his hold had lit up. "Excuse me for a second, Lieutenant Commander Solo, but this communication currently pending may reveal more about our sinister foes. Lora, put the man on hold for a few minutes."

"Yes sir." She acknowledged. The Fortuna spent some of its time as a business ship, so the communications system had unusual nuances such as "hold music" programmed into it. Marcus couldn't remember off-hand what the latest tune was, but since they'd just come from Ankaa it was probably the Kiperial March - merchants from the Kipire tended to enjoy hearing it for obvious reasons. With Lieutenant Commander Solo suitably holding, Marcus pressed the button on the armrest of the command chair. Iyoda's voice came across over the speakers almost instantly.

"Sir," He began, his voice now the picture of emotionless composure. Marcus vaguely remembered hearing at some point that to show emotion publicy was considered dishonourable for samurai. Or, at least, publicly among fellow members of the Asanawa culture. "I did not recognise the creatures at first, but the more I think of it, the more they resemble the vampires that the usurper Kou Chou used to fill the ranks of his infamous Purple Guard. They are creatures of darkness that use the living - humans particularly - for nourishment. I am afraid that I can tell you little more than that, sir. According to legend, it was the honour of the ancient samurai and their leader, Shogun No Dachi, that shielded them from the creatures' evil and the light of their cause that destroyed them. Evidently honour was no physical shield here. If indeed they are creatures manifest of darkness, then light should still be a weapon to use against them." Marcus head a derisive snort from Aernus' direction.

"Evil and darkness are falsehoods conjured by our minds," Said the Science Officer, looking disbelieving, "and nothing more. I would not put any faith in these lessons of old legends, Marcus. It's distinctly un-scientific."

"There's more to the universe than your numbers and your sums, boy." Retorted the old samurai over the command chair's radio - he had obviously heard. "I remember many men who learned that the hard way. I have taken the liberty of giving torches to the Marines, sir. If indeed the stories of old are true, then perhaps those will aid us in our fight against these creatures. I will await your orders." And, with that, the line went silent, leaving Marcus to consider what he'd just heard. He turned to Aernus.

"Aernus, is there any scientific basis at all that would explain creatures with such properties?" He asked the ship's Science Officer. Aernus laughed, but, on seeing Marcus' perfectly serious expression, reluctantly began to consider the options.

"Well..." He began, running over old textbooks in his mind, "if they were made of anti-energy, it's quite possible that they could feed on the positive energy found in most other living creatures. And that would also make them averse to light. But I still don't think-"

"Thank you, Aernus. Deep scan the area around us. Those creatures had to come from somewhere." Replied Marcus, already turning back to Lora. "Lora, bring Lieutenant Commander Solo back online." Both officers wordlessly went about their tasks, and, a second later, Fluffie's face was back on the communications screen.

"Ah, Lieutenant Commander Solo, thank you for waiting," Said the banker, running over the two perspectives on these creatures that he'd just heard. "It would appear that those are creatures made of...anti-energy?" He turned, raising an eyebrow toward Aernus, who nodded silently as a sign that the other, not-so-scientifically-inclined man had got the term correct. "Yes, anti-energy, that feed on more normal life forms such as ourselves for nourishment. We humans are apparently the tastiest treats of all. I am reliably informed that light is their primary weakness an-"

"Sir," Said Aernus, cutting across the explanation, "you will have to excuse me for interrupting, but I have detected a gigantic unidentified vessel 20 light years away from our current position. It is 26 kilometres in length and currently at rest; as far as I can tell it is currently inactive. I reccomend that we send a probe."

"We don't have any probes, Aernus," Replied the banker, turning to the ship's Science Officer momentarily before turning back to Fluffie on the viewscreen. "Unless the Alpaca Horde carries any, that is?" This last question was directed at the other commander. Marcus waited expectantly, examining the Fortuna's new friend as he did so. The man didn't look as happy and carefree as he had earlier, in the coffee bar. He looked as though something unpleasant had happened...best to avoid it for now.
