I'm looking for an exception
It seems that when it comes to films, the first one is always the best.

Is there an exception to this? Is there a series/trilogy/pair of films where the first one is not the best?

The only exception I can think of is Star Wars (Episode 1 being #1 supposedly, although #4 was)... but that doesn't count as it was made in a different order.

I'm not being argumentative - I know there probably are exceptions - I just can't think of any. I also realise it's subjective, and that a film someone thinks is great might be regarded as crud by someone else.

So, help me out here. It's annoying me.

Rocky 2 is better than 1 imo.
T1 and T2 are pretty even, maybe some people prefer 2 over 1.

Mmmmmm, well they're both good films. Different though.

I think that personally I'd rate Aliens higher. But there are others who wouldn't.

I mean a case where it's widely accepted that the original is pants, in comparison to sequel(s).

Also the only one where Stallones acting was brilliant instead of "acceptable" was 1.
