they're tricky.
what class/equipment you got?
did you get a henchman?
the bad news is you pretty much have to make your saving throw.
mrl is right. it's not that great a game. i'm back to playing dungeon keeper 1 again.

Re: sleep or neverwinter nights?
level 4 - 2 druid 2 barbarian
breastplate + tower shield
yes, the half-orc barbarian dude with the ****off double axe, plus a summoned dire wolf
ps, getting a cleric from the animal/healing schools seems rocking; you get decent equipment in the prelude (including the half plate) plus you get summon creature regularly and its ace because Summon Creature 1 gives a dire boar (level 7) and SC2 gives a dire wolf (level 11) and after that you dont need to do much really and its all [/prattle]
ps mark, its running for me at about 3fps and its still fan-dabby-dozy

Re: sleep or neverwinter nights?
I don't care how fast it runs. It's just not in the same league as Torment, BG (1 and 2), or, most recently, KoTOR.

what i meant was
im playing the game under awful conditions and im still finding it amazingly ace.
and BG1 is nowhere near the quality. havent played KOTOR or BG2, but i wouldnt say torment is as good either.

For the record, I like Neverwinter Nights quite a bit. But BG1 and BG2 are far better, period.

You speak craziness earth boy.
Torment and KoTOR are very alike, and both the best examples, although neither has the apocolypticly large story of the Baldurs Gate games.

Re: sleep or neverwinter nights?
I haven't played NWN multiplayer, so i guess that could rock, but the single player doesn't come close to BG2 or Torment (or KoTOR). I got bored and didn't finish the story, so maybe that improves. However, the control system and lack of party made the combat far less interesting than that in the others - BG2 especially. I haven't played BG1 for ages, i remember it being better than NWN though.

Re: sleep or neverwinter nights?
BG1 is something you'd primarily play for the story anyway; as it all follows directly on in BG2, there's a lot of stuff you'd miss if you hadn't played BG1 through, as I did the first time.

Re: sleep or neverwinter nights?
the BG games are great, dont get me wrong. i just prefer the feel of NWN i guess.
party vs henchman: the latter makes everything more tactical.
control sytem: the radial menu/hotkeys combo has never worked poorly for me. the only grievance i have is the lack of autoaim for spellcasting but thats only because of my abysmal frame rate

I don't see why it makes everything more tactical. To me it makes it more dependent on whims of the AI.

Re: sleep or neverwinter nights?
I had the hafling thief (Tomy?) with me at this point, but I did fairly well. That'll be the robe of fire resistance that you get in the Prelude for magic classes - or more likely it was my wizard/ranger class ging me that Dire Boar to help by level 2.
I'm about to go after the 4th Waterdevian creature now - except there's a big mean orc that killed me last time..

When the orc got me I was using the wrong henchmen for the particular situation, however when I go back, Deilin = the win*

Re: sleep or neverwinter nights?
After playing BG2, it's quite a comedown to play NWN.
Going from killing the gods themselves to fighting boars.

BG2 is going a bit extreme though, especially in Throne of Bhaal.

Well, it's more 'you kill a horde of demons etc'.
The items are silly, and the level 10 spells (I mean, who NEEDS a planetar?) more so.
