Why do the boxes that we have to fill in have a yellow background with white text?

it makes it very difficult to see what has been entered

Are you using the google toolbar, with its autofill / Highlight function?
Thats probably whats doing it

It did for me when i was using IE, with it installed some time ago. Disabled the highlight part and it used the correct colours.

Of course, best solution is to not use IE in the first place. Terrible piece of software it is

Get firefox or opera, and feel much much better
