Best and Worst Spin-Offs
I was wondering what you thought the best and worse tv-spin-offs were.
I think Fraiser is the best spin-off and is vastly superior to Cheers which I san't stand.
I would say that the worst spin-off is Joey. He was the weakest character in Friends. the plots are non-existant and the characters are stereotypical and the idea must have been thought up in about 25 seconds, if that.
Your turn.

Re: Best and Worst Spin-Offs
CSI Miami was never as good as CSI, but still pretty decent.
If I'm honest, I'd say you hit the nail right on the head with Frasier being the best.
The worst, well, there's quite a few of those!

Re: Best and Worst Spin-Offs
Isn't 'Mad About You' in the same universe as 'Friends?' I think that there was some character interaction, but I don't think either was a spin off of the other. I liked 'Mad About You.'
Worst spin-off, I don't know. There are so many.

Re: Best and Worst Spin-Offs
I was discussing this other day with a friend.
Angel from Buffy was pretty good (although not as good as the original).
Mork and Mindy from Happy Days was pretty terrible (although the source material was no better).
I'd rate Cheers and Frasier kind of equally.
I can't think of many other decent spin-offs, unless you're including from movies (in which case Buffy again).

Friends is considered a Spin off of Mad About You. Pheobe's sister Ursula is a reoccuring character in Mad About You.
As for good spin offs, I have to say I really cant think of many the are better than their original. Although wth no RDA and since Claudia Black's apperances ended I have been perfering Stargate Atlantis over SG1
Oh wait maybe Star Trek DS9

I think that should be enough for an automatic ban.
DS9 was the worst of all the shows (with the possible exception of Enterprise which I stopped watching halfway throgh series 2).
Voyager>tng>tos>DS9
there is no excuse for such poor taste.

Voyager, for the most part wasn't very good. Series 6 & 7 were terrible, but the others weren't brilliant either.
I personally didn't like DS9 at all (stupid religious crap doesn't belong in Trek) but it has a lot more going for it in terms of story arcs, etc than the rest of the shows.
Of course, none of the Trek shows stand up particularly well when compared to other sci-fi shows (B5, the new Battlestar, etc).

Re: Best and Worst Spin-Offs
I'd have to say Stargate SG-1 is the best spin-off
ps. Voyager is the worst of the lot. Closely followed by DS9. TNG for teh win

Re: Best and Worst Spin-Offs
On the good side...
Tucker's Luck (from Grange Hill)
Can't think of any more :(
On the bad side..
Baywatch Nights was even worse than Baywatch.
A Different World was even worse than The Cosby Show.
The Golden Palace was an unbearably awful spin off from The Golden Girls (which was also shit)
Highlander (The Raven) was a poor spin of from the joy that was the original film.

Joey is horrible, but friends wasn't very good either..
Angel and buffy are both pretty good but I like the latter one better.

Good spin off: GD from PA. No, really. No, I mean, really. True story.
Worst spin offs: George W. Bush from George H. W. Bush (pandering to the crowds)
Euro Disney from Disneyland.
Bangaladesh from Pakistan

Re: Best and Worst Spin-Offs
All the star treks seem pretty much the same to me. I like star trek voyager once it gets that hot blonde though. If stargate sg-1 or whatever is a spinoff I like that. I actually preferred angel to buffy for some reason. I just like the super-cool (this works in a couple of ways) vampire as the hero idea.

No, I dislike spike. His voice is too gay, he dyes his hair blonde and he gets outplayed far too often. Bonus thumbs (edit not thumbs) up on charisma carpenter though.

Everything Irish reminds me of you. When I one day shag a girl from the Green Island I'll be thinking of you aswell.
Likewise i will think of Dace when I get a Scottish girl, but strangely enough I did not think of Steven when I had an English girl. perhaps she wasn't "posh" enough...

Thinking of GD posters during sex is generally something I try to avoid, but each to their own i suppose.

Re: Best and Worst Spin-Offs
I'm pretty sure nantoz and horn had a conversation in #forums one day about how they both found johnny depp extremely attractive so I've sort of presumed he swings both ways from time to time. That said I can understand why people would think of me when they're having sex. I do save the planet from destruction frequently enough.

Angel has quite a solid concept but David Boreanz is too terrible an actor to carry a show by himself. SMG isn't a brilliant actress but Buffy is supposed to be stupid(ish) and therefore she is helped by her friends more often.
Angel is just supposed to be Batman (which renders his crew mostly useless) - which doesn't really work overall, given the cast.
