[Declined] Signups for R13, forming of galaxies

Yes it's been discussed before but here is my hopefully failsafe system for next rounds signups and galaxy formation. This is based on my assumption that we wud have 50% private 50% random (or similar). I use an example of max 5 private.

1 - Every planet that signs up gets into the same galaxy, ie you have ALL planets in 200:1 or something

2 - All ppl wanting to form a private group (buddy group, private gal part) can do so by using a code. They remain in 200:1, but in their account is a code that stores the group they belong to.

3 - All random PAYING customers get a field indicating they are such a planet

4 - finally, all random unpaid account form the rest

5 - When we are close to tickstart PACREW decide on the numebr of galaxies depending on signups and type of signups. A method cud be to count the number of PACKED private groups. Private groups will be packed into 5 ppl groups something like this:

- Groups of 5 will be left unchanged
- Groups of 2 and 3 will be merged
- Groups of 4 will be merged with private groups of 1 and if not resulting in all 5 group packs, then paying random will be added.

If those packs groups of 5 form a totoal of 100 groups, then there will be 100 galaxies

6 - then we have a 'shuffle' :

- All packed private groups will be placed into the real galaxies
- Then all remaining paying randoms will be merged into the new gals (evenly spread)
- All freebies are distributed.
- Finally, all planets within one galay are shuffled internally, so that no1 can know what planets are freebies and which ones arent.

7 - After this placement, the database will get back online and ppl have a few days remaining to get to know each other and to pay if not done already.

Pls dont shoot at the details, shoot at the big errors i made (if any). Details cud be dealt with imho.

I think this wud be the most impartial, fair and most failsafe method.

That sounds like the plan I have seen, except for the last bit on #7 about shuffling the galaxy internally. Other than that I believe that is the basic plan they have come up with.

Shuffling should not take place before tick 48 or something to avoid too many multi planets being signed up.

And desse, you are right of course about multi signup, but on the other hand, ppl like to get to know each other a bit (and maybe pay for freebies). It both has pro and cons to wait for tick 48 something

i am not sure, but do you understand what i meant:

- only one gal during signup (block forum until then and such to prevent spamming pretick).
- private groups was also r12, whats the problem?

the largest error you made is in suggestion this about 6 weeks after the discssion on galaxy formation was closed.

as far as i'm aware they system is already coded, and as such seems unlikely to change. that said, your suggestion is remarkably close to what's being done - tho groups are of 3 rather than 5 and will be arranged 2 per gal

That would make preshuffle gameplay even more boring than usual. No attacks and no spamming... The forums should be used to ask questions on strategical choices and maybe show them the place to find an alliance or where they can look for buddies. (Like IRC channels and/or forums.)

I expect there to be a difference between r13 politics and r12 politics. In a blocked round private groups will make alliances too reluctant to break blocks apart.

You really do not understand what i suggested. Please read it again

Seems i used the word shuffle where i shud not have. Thats why i put it between quotes, because i lacked a better word. I meant one gal during signup and with shuffle i meant the process before tickstart where all players who signed up got divided into real galaxies, not a real shuffle as done in earlier rounds

And as mist said, i missed the other thread earlier, so it's a moot point anyways
