Moscow, Russia
I take a course at University called Russian Politics and I also do Eastern European Politics. Our lecturer is a world leader in this and is one hell of an interesting bloke. Unfortunately tomoz we have an essay to hand in so there was about ten of us there out of about 40 so instead of a lecture, he handed us his notes and spoke about his experience in Eastern Europe and Russia. Near the end he said "I received an email today from a collegue at Moscow Univeristy" basically he showed us the email and they are looking for british students to teach russian kids english in Moscow, in return you get some money (not much), food, accomodation and Russian lessons for the 6 weeks you are there.
Now this interested me. The question is should I go for it, I think I will but what would you do if you had an offer like that?

Re: Moscow, Russia
Moscow is fantastic. So full of museums, art, historic buildings, cathedrals, blah blah, you probably wouldn't see it all in that six weeks.
Did you know the Kremlin has a square, inside which there are five cathedrals? FIVE. Not including St Basils, in Red Square.
Then check out the huge clock just outside Red Square, which doesn't have hands, it's a map of the northern hemisphere, which moves relative to a fixed timescale on the rim. Look at a city on teh map, look below at teh rim, see what time it is IN THAT CITY. Genius.
Dinner at the Metropole, walk past the Bolshoi theatre and up the hill to the old Lubyanka KGB prison/HQ. Everywhere you go, there's something worth seeing.
Do it, you won't be sorry.

If I was single and a student then yeah I would definitely. If nothing else, it looks good on your CV.

Re: Moscow, Russia
Who cares if it looks good? It's an amazing place. Why wouldn't you want to go there? Because broadband isn't easy to come by?

Erm, because you might have a happy life elsewhere? You might not want to leave your friends, family, loved ones, etc? You might have other commitments. Any number of reasons.
Besides, I said I'd go.

I was more referring to the 'looks good on a CV' part, seems so many people decide on things to do these days, based purely on what will fit 100% with what they think people want to see on a CV and not because they actually want to do it.
It's a damn shame.

I specifically said if nothing else before that. So if he couldn't think of a single other reason to go, there was that. No need to be cranky dude.

Re: Moscow, Russia
Should be good, I used to play TFC with a guy who moved out there to live with his new wife, he said Moscow was an amazing city and the people were really friendly.

Re: Moscow, Russia
Moscow is in the top three places on the planet that I want to visit before I die.
Go there, then tell me all about it and make me want to go more!

Moscow on any day. I might even live there one day. Buy a small house on the outskirts and open an internet cafe or something

I don't think they allow bald Geordie-Australian hybrids within the city walls.

The only walls are those of the Kremlin, and I have no urge to visit the inners of Russian Dictatorocracy.
