Mircosoft and ads
I don't understand this... why does microsoft have 3rd party ads on their website and in MSN.
It's very nice for that lady on msn.com that she lost 55 pounds and all, but does MS need the money that badly that they put that crap on their site? Instead of fat ladies, they could try to put more usefull information on there.
Same thing with MSN messenger... firstly I don't need two strings for 0 Euros, but then, does MS really need that crap on their messenger?

I love my MessengerPlus \o/
Especially the IRC control codes. Even if everyone else sees them as empty boxes one day, somewhere, someone might see bold and underlined and all the colours of the rainbow.

There you go. The ads are just an annoyance factor to get people to upgrade to their premium service.
They make a little money selling the ads, and a lot more money selling the option to turn them off. It's both clever and evil.

messenger-plus is a 3rd-party add-on for MSN, not Microsoft Endorsed in any way

Re: Mircosoft and ads
On my version of MSN you can turn the ads off by going to View --> Promotional Pane
