Re: xbox recall
it's hardly a major thing, and 'recall' is misleading.

Re: xbox recall
ive had that with a few other devices, more often then not its because the cable inside has snapped at the joint. bit of resoldering / electrical taping up of the cable again worked. Though this was for a cable carrying a voltage of less then 12v.
mains cables tend to have thicker wires inside.
Or you could just buy another one you know

Well, I'd that IS the official expression. I mean, although it's nothing serious, they apparently WANT you to change that power cable. And you don't "recall" over 10 million power cables if it's NOTHING.

well, actually, yes. it's a fault in 0.01% of cords, which has manifested itself in 0.0002% of cords.

It's not strictly speaking a recall, because they're sending out replacements and not calling back (or "recalling", if you will) the old product.
I don't particularly know why this thread exists; Microsoft is doing something which it does not have to do, about a problem which is well within "acceptable" limits for QA.

Given that the main outcome of this, aside from a few broken X-Boxes, is a few singed carpets, I doubt you'll get very far.

Re: xbox recall
Actually, yes.
Microsoft are doing the same for UK residents with Xbox's. If the Xbox was manufactured before October 2003.
GAME stores have been told to inform customers of this that may have Xbox's that old. GAME itself does not have the replacement power cables, we only have the contact details for Microsoft regarding it.
PSS: Recall is wrong, this thread title is misleading as Xbox's are not being recalled. To be honest, at least Microsoft are doing something about a 'possible fault' and they've typically shown good custoemr service when dealing with problems for the Xbox. Sony on the other hand...
