Whats wrong with cannibalism? (im being serious) we allow bodies to be used for medical experimentation and art, dead bodies are already put to 'use' and not simply dispossed off. Its entirely arbitary to draw the line at eating them (if you so wish). Killing someone is obviously wrong but if the dead person didn't object beforehand why is it wrong to let someone eat them?

It was implied that they were alive already. I wanted to express the idea that the state is (and can be justified in being) interested in what consenting adults do.

As to your general point there is an issue with property in corpses. I blame the abolishment of slavery (I'm being serious).

Corpses should be res religiosi! If we had a state religion...

On a side note I question why it was necessary for parliament to make necrophilia a crime in 2003, when it hadn't ever been a crime before.

Well on an episode of 'The Word' a few years ago they had some guy who had to drink a pint of vomit. And all he was doing was getting on TV.

But he was allowed to vomit it back up, after a certain period, into another container which he didn't have to drink. So I suppose that doesn't count.
