And why do you need to cross your legs anyway?
It's not as if you have an appendage with a mind of its own to hide from co-workers or anything.
Though, open legs would be conducive to the erotic imagery...hmmm...

If you can tell me the name of the piece of music played right at the end of the very first cartoon then it's okay by me!

the only negative consequence of ever-so-slightly-porny avatars is the possibility that everyone will lose when one person goes too far (he said seeking a moderator's response that this won't happen)

Re: sexually oriented avatars
118 posts and 1,220 views. In your face everyone.
Porn is harmful because it makes men masturbate. Although through constant wanking your dicks may get the exercise and get bigger and toned, you suffer from impotency and become sterile earlier in life. Men will not be content with their current partners if they watch too much porn because they think that there are better women than his current partner that he can get. Although this may be true, the fact remains that pornstars are actors and actors are limited in this world. If a large percentage of society does this then the result is sexual insecurity and less marriages. Even a small number of people get married then it will most likely end up in divorce.
Result: More unwanted children or less children being born, children raised up in an unstable household and learn no more than life is all about sex. Which its not. Even though most of you think otherwise.
Any questions?

It was in place of 'snip' or some other phrase since the forums seem to dislike empty quotes these days, though effectively my quote and your post seem to mean the same thing.

Re: sexually oriented avatars
Firstly I make it clear that I believe in God. (Or a more greater, supernatural being or what have you.)
I think that out of all of the creations, human being have what I call 'wisdom' which separates us from everything else. For this reason, I know that humans did NOT evolve from monkeys. But there are other forms of evolution which happened but I will deal with that later.
For the afterlife to exist, there must be a pre-life. The pre-life is not the time on earth but the time before it, before we came into this world. We were created by God and probably served him and either by choice or without were sent to this world. But when we came here there was a barrier to be passed, a barrier of mortality, and our memory was erased. This barrier prevents us from knowing what we are or were like before and stops us from seeing what will happen after we die.
This life is temporary and most likely the smallest life we have because there is no justice in this world and no balance.
The afterlife is forever and will be a time when mankind will be separated according to how well we lived in this world. Good to heaven, Bad to hell.
But maybe not.
It's hard for me to believe that after we die thats it. No more existence for us. Humans are the only creation to have existed with the ability to comprehend, to understand the world, to be able to build and destroy and to judge what is right and wrong. The only creation to have morals. There is a purpose for our existence and most major religions (Islam, Christianity and Judaism) suggests that this life is a test. So it is in my opinion. A test to see how far can you run away from God, who created this universe and knows it back to front, or to see whether you shall accept his message and do good in this world.
So if I were to follow a religion it would be Islam.
I'm sorry I contradicted myself earlier.

oh please. How can you know for certain that humans DIDN'T evolve from monkeys? You can't . Just the same as i can't be certain that humans DID, or that God doesn't exist (which i often think). i don't believe in a God as such. i too find it hard to believe that death is the end, mainly because i hate to think that out of all these eons, 70 years is all i'm likely to get (if i'm lucky). But seriously, how can anybody be so f*cking close-minded?

Ok. That's your perogative. I'll take it as a given for this discussion, as otherwise it becomes quite meaningless.

I think that out of all of the creations, human being have what I call 'wisdom' which separates us from everything else. For this reason, I know that humans did NOT evolve from monkeys. But there are other forms of evolution which happened but I will deal with that later.

If sentience (or wisdom) seperates us from everything else, it must be a divine gift.
Quote:
For the afterlife to exist, there must be a pre-life. The pre-life is not the time on earth but the time before it, before we came into this world. We were created by God and probably served him and either by choice or without were sent to this world.
|
This is an assumption, not a deduction. If we exist, then something must once have been created. For there to be creation, there must be a beginning. What's to say that beginning isn't birth?
Quote:
But when we came here there was a barrier to be passed, a barrier of mortality, and our memory was erased. This barrier prevents us from knowing what we are or were like before and stops us from seeing what will happen after we die.
|
Divine amnesia. Let's all thank God for ****ing with us.
Quote:
This life is temporary and most likely the smallest life we have because there is no justice in this world and no balance.
The afterlife is forever and will be a time when mankind will be separated according to how well we lived in this world. Good to heaven, Bad to hell.
|
If there is no justice and no balance in this world, then no one is doing good, so everyone will go to hell. If choosing life is a direct line to hell, why does anyone? Or why does God send us to hell?
I think you need to reexamine your beliefs with a stronger emphasis on building a logically sound system. There is nothing wrong in seeking a religious framework to coherently define right and wrong, but I recommend that you seek to strengthen this framework rather than rely too heavily on 'because that's the way I believe.' Faith is generally stronger, in the sense of being an inspiration rather than a crutch, if its basis is simple and easy to understand. If you run around using 'religion says it's bad!' without having defined what your religion says is bad, you're just going to get stuck in guilt/sin feedback loops.
Quote:
It's hard for me to believe that after we die thats it. No more existence for us. Humans are the only creation to have existed with the ability to comprehend, to understand the world, to be able to build and destroy and to judge what is right and wrong.
|
Humans don't comprehend anything, don't understand the world, and can't reliably differentiate between right and wrong.
Quote:
The only creation to have morals.
|
Hardly. You just don't understand the ethical systems at work within the animal kingdom.
Quote:
There is a purpose for our existence and most major religions (Islam, Christianity and Judaism) suggests that this life is a test.
|
The concept of testing is older than all three of these religions. Why would God reveal his amazing idea to gauge qualification to a bunch of Chinese bureaucrats?
Quote:
So it is in my opinion. A test to see how far can you run away from God, who created this universe and knows it back to front, or to see whether you shall accept his message and do good in this world.
|
What is good?

So if I were to follow a religion it would be Islam.

A tad more eloquent than you put it, but with a clear non sequitor, can you spot it?

I'm sorry I contradicted myself earlier.

That's ok. Religions tend toward internal inconsistency.

Even Jimmy Carter would find it difficult to overlook this case of vote tampering
