Job Application Question
If the closing date for a job app is (for example) 15-DEC-2003 and you can submit applications by e-mail does this mean that you can submit an app at any time before midnight on that day (as apposed to before 5pm or whenever)?

Re: Job Application Question
It just depends on the receiver. I don't believe every compagny handles such things the same way.
Quite a stupid question this is isn't it.

Re: Job Application Question
Er
Most applications handed in 24 hours beforehand wouldn't be seen favourably :/

Re: Job Application Question
It doesn't really matter that much for most jobs. At my work we accept things up until a couple of days later. Some places will throw in the bin after close of business. You could phone and ask, obviously.

As companies want to know that you are a well organised, well prepared guy.

Re: Job Application Question
i would say get it in before 5
if you cant then you should phone the HR department and explain that you have just seen the advertisment and you think you would be perfect for the role
ask if it would be alright to get your application to them this evening for them to add to the list first thing tomorrow morning
apologise a lot and be polite
madi

Re: Job Application Question
Well thats the app off now.
I've managed to convince myself that the deadline thing means they collect all the apps up till that day.
Tomorrow is when they start looking at them.
As such when they receive it today doesn't matter.
I'm telling myself this so i don't get too annoyed at myself.

Re: Job Application Question
Having dealt with jobs apps at work. No one actually looks at the things until at least a week after the closing date anyway. So dont worry about it.
GOOD LUCK!!!

Re: Job Application Question
From what I can see, it took you as long to decide whether or not to complete the application as it did to actually fill it in.
It would appear your most suitable job is village spaz. Good luck getting it.
Hee hee.

Not always true. What if his job is a pressure job where he needs to make decisions on the spur of the moment. Then a well written app before hand may look favorable. Also, companies are not going to give a crap anyway cause they have no idea when you saw the job posting.

If it matters, the current job I have now, I handed the application form in at 6pm on the deadline day after having the application form for 2 months.

Re: Job Application Question
Well after getting the ball rolling with the first application i went on to fill out and send in another 4*.
I am feeling very pleased with myself.
Especially considering that that's the most job seeking i've done for months AND I DID IT ALL IN ONE DAY \o/
*not identical job applications for the same job but different applications for different jobs

I suspect they're far less picky.

I applied for a job with the council a few months ago and they told me "nothankyoupleasedrivethrough".
As such i don't think it's quite a sure thing.
Saying that tho my application content has improved dramatically since then*.
*i've started exagerating

I think this says more about you than either of our statements.
