Evidence for:
* How many "newbies" work out what "them thar VB tags" do before posting
* Livejournal account registered within an hour of first post
* LJ account only has one entry
* C'mon people, just READ the entry
* Who lists crying as an interest
* Registered from <x>.lincoln.ac.uk
* Registered with odd hotmail address [email protected] where x are numbers

Evidence against:
* Your own concience?

So who do we know who's at Lincoln uni who could be arsed to fake a livejournal for comedy gold kicks?

Why does this have to happen every time someone new (Male or female) makes a post ? It's pretty pathetic, the amount of people who've been hounded off the forums. The funny bit of it all is everyone complains the forums are useless but by driving out new blood it ensures that we're stuck reading the same crap posters like Sunday day after day. Also being able to use VB tags is possibly the stupiest "sign" of being a gimmick I've ever heard, I hear there other forums on the Internet and perhaps people on those use VB tags ?!?

Did anyone ever find out whos gimmick Gayle28uk was ?

Its just as likely she read some threads before posting (which is a good thing), saw journal links in many sigs and thought starting one would be a good idea.

if she does turn out to be a gimmick (unlikely), then well done megla, you can say "I told you so". I hope no-one here would be misguided enough to think creating a gimmick is worthwhile these days.

In the meantime stop being over-zealous, no-one cares. Just let new people try and fit in gradually without unnecessary persecution.

The general consensus was that she was a troll account set up to try and be funny on AD that then went over board and spilt over to GD (As did Sevrok), a few people had the nick but wouldn't release it, it's a happy coincidence that she disappeared at the same time as several members of Titans command went AWOL all of whom were suspected of running the account.

You can generally tell gimmicks by their post-rates. Genuinely new users do not post 20-30 posts a day that often. This forum is simply not that interesting / active to warrant that kind of attention, unless you've got some prior connection. Whenever I see someone posting 30-40 times in a single evening with a new account I think Sunday/Pavil/Shai/etc.

Also, Gayle (if a gimmick) was clearly the best gimmick ever. Hell, didn't "she" even post on Slashdot? Although I did wonder at the time.
