why i'm never going to get the package from ashknight
(not ashknight's package.. that's another story.. ho ho)
ash sent me a package like 2 weeks ago (3 soon)
the post office he sent it at said it'd take about 5 days
i told him to add on 3 days to taht cause the canadian postal system is utter crap.
anyway
on friday i stopped by the mailbox to check (we have a bunch of boxes at the end of the street) and as i was about to open it i thought 'no.. it won't be here today, it'll make me sit and wait til monday'
sure enough.. no package :\
i went home and told my sister, and then added on 'no wait.. it won't come monday.. it'll come on tuesday just to piss me off'
then some shits pushed our mailboxes over on the weekend.. and it was still on the ground on monday.. so no mail :\ dad said it'd prolly take like 3 days for someone to fix it.. and they don't deliver mail to toppled over mailboxes.
today however on my way home i noticed they were upright again. so i checked the mail.
NOTHING :\
fs
i hate the canadian postal system

Finnish postal system's great.
We don't loose packages around here. And they come quite quick too if you pay enough £££ for an a-level package. Only turds send b-level packages though, because they let untalented immigrant workers handle b-level packages.

Re: why i'm never going to get the package from ashknight
It's terrible dealing in mail here, even though we are no more remote than most cities we are still classed as a remote area, therefore even if you pay good money to have something delivered via express overnight post because we are outside the guarenteed network it'll take on average 2-3 days. A week to two weeks via standard post and 1-3 months for overseas packages.

Wonderfully efficient system.
Apart from when the debt collectors come in person to ask why I have not contacted them.....

Re: why i'm never going to get the package from ashknight
It once took 3 and a half months for a postcard I sent from somewhere near Calais (sp?) to arrive in Dover.
I make that an average speed of around about 0.009985 miles per hour.
Impressive.

Re: why i'm never going to get the package from ashknight
US Postal Mail use to be horriable, now I can get letters next day within the region and usually 2-3 days across country. Of course, the occasional anthrax lacened mail seems to be a problem.
Its proably UPS and FedEx made them clean up their act. Just another sign socialism doesn't work.

I sent a postcard from the island of Zakynthos to England, 3 years ago.
It hasn't arrived yet...

Overseas mail kind blows no matter who handles it. Clearly if you want it to get there use a carrier like UPS or FedEx.

Aryn's CD to me (Canada-UK) arrived within a week I think, but my package to her was more than a week.

Well, the Finnish system is system is still great. If you send packages, you can monitor the travel routes of your package via internet (if you pick up the package number from the package card you have to fill in). A package can get across the country in a few days.
Yet another thing we do better than the Yanks.

Re: why i'm never going to get the package from ashknight
the royal mail are pretty good at some stages..
1st class letters are next day, providing you post em before like 5pm or something. 2nd class is a day later. if you send something by "registered post" you can track it via the internet or phone just like the guy above said. if you send it secure, its insured, so if the dumb ****s lose it, they pay out. but if they screw up and it aint insured youve got no hope, and unfortunately you hear it happens to often :S

This would never have happened in a private postal system.

funny. I tracked a registered letter yesterday via USPS's website. And then of course there is Fedex and UPS which do that as well. In fact i had somthing delivered over night from across the country today. (though it costs an arm and a leg to do that).
