Sound Problems
Right for some reason winamp refuses to play anything whatsoever.
Now ive been having sound issues on and off for some time (the mixer refuses to open etc) and nothing will play. Its all solved by merely restarting.
Ive upgraded to the latest Nvidia drivers and have nmixer (the new fangled jobby) installed.
it now says :
Runtime Error!
Program : c:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NvMixer\nvmixer.exe
This application has request the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the applications support team for more information.
Now before i isntalled the new drivers whenever this would happen it would just say 'failed to open mixer'
So my questions :
Why does my PC sound die from time to time through nothing that i do ?
Why does it fail to open the mixer
Why does the new mixer cause a runtime error?
Extra info : when i goto task manager. Under USERID where it would normally say 'James' its blank.

Re: Sound Problems
delete the NV drivers folder (usually C:\nvidia), uninstall the drivers, reboot, install the new drivers, reboot.
try that.

Re: Sound Problems
ive reinstalled drivers several times
ive just updated directx again to 9.0b (reinstalling in reality)
hopefully this will fix it....from what ive read its quite a common problem that can be remedied by reinstalling all of windows.
If this doesnt work im going to reinstall the drivers that came with the motherboard.....theyre old but if they work then HEY HEY
OH AND SOUND JUST DIED AS I WROTE THIS IN THE MIDDLE OF A SONG!

Re: Sound Problems
Sounds like an nforce chipset. For some reason they really don't like using drivers other than the motherboard manufacturer's ones
