Cov-op: Production espionage

With the new possibility to "hide" production in the form of slowing down or adding ships to your production list, there should be a possibility to probe to see how much you got stashed away in your produce que.

I hereby suggest a cov op that goes in to check your factories to see how much ships you are building.

It should not however be able to tell you WHEN they are finished, but getting to know what you got in production could be a okay cov op.

I think that I like the sound of this idea - but I suspect the "hard-core" Ziks won't be so enthusiastic.

Sounds more like a sort of scan instead of a covert operation. Most covert operations cause damage in some way.

Maybe something could be added to the scan line after jumpgate probe, preferably so that only scanners are likely to get it. People could quite easily go without but, but if it's a tough attack against a stockpiler then you might find it useful.

The advantage of having it as a cov-op is that it has a chance of failure. Turning it into a scan would mean that alliance scanners would be able to get through in almost all cases.

Why introduce this now when ships in production have been a mystery all through PA? Just another thing we can plug into a calc.

Because the ability to hold ships "in limbo" (with the ability to appear without warning and destroy or steal an entire attack fleet) is fairly new.

Maybe the value of all ships in production could be added to the planet scan instead?

Not the ETA of completion and not the types of ships either. Just a risk assessment which doesn't reveal too much information.
