Possible Virus / Spyware

Yesterday, MSN, AIM and IRC started loosing there connection then reconnecting when I am idle on them. I am connected to the internet via Tiscali 2mb connection wired to an ADSL router / modem. I have done virus and Adaware scans and the firewall installed is not affecting the lost connections.

ok i cant see anything running in there which shouldnt be, so i dont think you have virus, or spyware which could be affecting it.

Its not spyware, or malware, or adware or anything nasty, but UAService7.exe is the only thing that really stands out.

The other things are related to your laptop drivers ( touchpad, lan etc ) , and the microsoft antispyware thing.

UAService7.exe is used by virtual CD programs like Alcohol to access CD images protected by SecureROM apparently

Re: Possible Virus / Spyware

Just noticed on my C:\ (my operating system is on a different drive) and theres an unaccessable folder called System Volume Information. Could that have anything to do with it?

Re: Possible Virus / Spyware

hm, then im stumped. It doesnt appear to be the internet connection itself dying if the stream kept playing :/
As to the unaccessable folder - its normal, dont worry about that.

Re: Possible Virus / Spyware

it shouldnt have anything to do with the port numbers really, they're randomly assigned more often then not

Re: Possible Virus / Spyware

I think its fixed now - I did a complete format and re installed my network card and it worked fine, then I remembered when I was at home (back in Luton, not Wales), I was connecting via a wireless network using a USB Wireless connector thing.

The only thing I can deduce is that it had some form of conflict between the two and it would also explain why only a few things were affected

I have now just found out that it wasnt that which was the problem, but was actually a **** up on Tiscali's end. There customer support is WORSE than NTL's so dont touch them with a barge pole
