Most Overrated Band Ever?
not sure if this has been done before, if it has...oh well.
in your opinion, who is the most overrated band....actually, what is the most overrated 'current' band, and what is the most overrated 'classic' band?
Current: Nickleback
Classic: Queen (I know I'll catch flames for that...but oh well, imo it's true)

DIE on both accounts.
RHCP and Coldplay are rather overated.

Classic: The Beatles.
Given that Queen comment Dilly, how much Queen music have you actually listened to? We Are The Champions/We Will Rock You and the like?
Those songs are an EXCEPTIONALLY bad indication of what the rest of Queen's music is like.
And 'You're a fool!' badges go to those people who dislike the Manics, Radiohead, RHCP and Nirvana.
It may only be opinion, but you're still wrong.

I've heard quite a bit of Queen...and yes, they do have some ace stuff, but they have much more crap than good stuff
And for the record, I disagree wholeheartedly with The Beatles being on ANY one's most overrated list. thank you

Well, the Beatles is the obvious choice.
Plus, just because you don't like a particular band doesn't necessarily mean that they're overrated.

Indeed, but without the beatles, where would music be? It would have had to take another band of the beatles size to crop up for music to have developed like it did, imho.
Nirvana, and RHCP are overrated. Nirvana i can stand when its in the background, and the chillies are quite good - good, but not as good as everyone would have you think

They're important, yes, but that doesn't make them a great band. Almost all of their output was completely dire.

Otherside is in the top bracket of music ever created.
However, they have a tendancy to ruin perfectly good songs with HORRIBLE funk bits. "By The Way" is a good example of this. So is "around the world" - lovely melodic chorus's - unbearable funk parts
As for the beatles, songs live "revolution" and "in my life" speak for themselves.

This is undoubtedly going to turn into a Beatles debate, but quite simply the Beatles are the greatest band of all time in my opinion and can therefore not qualify as being overrated.
I would say RCHP, Radiohead (especially recent albums) and Manic Street Preachers are hugely overrated.
In fact anything that NME jump upon as "the next great thing" usually turns out to be crap. Hello the Libertines.

SOme people here have no taste. The Strokes are not overrated, they're aces. and Queen are too, my first favourite band, although they've been replaced by the hives.
anyway
current: foo fighters
(even though i like them i feel they're no way near as good as everbody says they are, i think it's because everybody likes Dace Grohl too much)
classic: guns n' roses
two good(ish) songs whicvh get boring, the most annoying arse of a lead singer and most of their songs are boring and generally bad. Slash is the only good thing about them, but i don't like CHEESY GUITAR SOLOS.

OMG THE SPIRIT OF NIRVANA LIVES ON IN DAVE GROHL!!!!11111111111 HES SO ACE!11111111
GnR are very good. Superb in fact.
Until Axel Rose's singing kicks in. He surely has the worst singing voice of any "big" band in history.

Have you not got past the fact that all their songs sound exactly the same?
Try and guess a Hives song from the intro. It's a lucky dip.

current : Moby (I added this bit second, and on reflection probably just to be annoying, I do like most of his stuff, just not as much as everyone seems to keep telling me i should :/)
classic : stone roses (watch for the die hard indie boys to demand my head now or something similar, but please lets face it, they are god awfully dull, and in your heart, no matter how much you avoid washing and don't have a bone in your body capable of moving in time to rhythem, the stone roses sucked sweaty donkey balls)

They were original and imo they are great. I can see how people might not like them but i hardly think they can be said to be over-rated as not that many people know them, certainly outside of the UK.
