So , Scottish Football is crap , eh?
Boa-who?
Liverp-who?
Blackb-who?
Sporting-who?
Hertha-who?
One more game, and its official. Celtic would walk into the Premiership. And Rangers with them.

They beat a load of **** clubs to get to the final. I reckon they would struggle to finish in the top 5.

Blackburn and Liverpool are by no means England's best.
Celta Vigo are okay I suppose.
Stuttgart and Boavista are a joke.
Plus, they played awful last night and would never beat West Brom with a performance like that.

Ofc Arsenal are supreme. They never put in a poor performance against a lower class of team.
Oh and Celtic played Rovers in our best run of form when we were beating Arsenal at Highbury, and newcastle/manu at Ewood Park.

1. I know Arsenal aren't amazing, and they played crap in both the matches against Celtic.
2. Well Blackburn did play crap at Ewood, and in the first leg, Celtic were totally outclassed, and only scored a lucky goal (if I remember right).

Liverpool burnt out this season and you damn well know it Kura.
Claiming Celtic could walk into the Premiership has yet to be proven, there's under-12's teams that could have beaten us at various points of this season.

You cant blame an entire uefa cup run on celtic's opponents "playing crap". thats ludicrous. I suppose suttons header at ewood, or hartsons wonderstrike at anfield were Friedel/Dudek's faults?
Sure we didnt play good against boavista, but we didnt frankly need to. The only goal they scored was an OG from valgaeren. We deserved to win the tie purely on the fact that they were diving scummy bastards for 180 minutes, and had no intrest in playing a proper game.
Having said that they still put out malaga - a team who were good enough to put out leeds united. And they beat PSG (Ronaldinho anyone?), and they looked ordinary against us.

i was relating celtics opponents back to their rough position and difficulty inb the premiership, which is what this boils down to.
I dont see how if celtic beat both Liverpool and Blackburn away from home, and those two teams combine to score one goal against us in four games, Celtic arent a high calibre premiership quality side.

hold on a minute, lets check liverpools form around the celtic game then.
UEFA H Auxerre 2-1 Win
WC Final Manchester United 2-0 Win
PREM H Bolton Wanderers 2-0 Win
UEFA A Celtic 1-1 Draw
PREM A Tottenham 3-2 Win
UEFA H Celtic 2-0 Loss
PREM H Leeds United 3-1 Win
Yes, liverpool were completely out of form when they faced celtic.
Edit : previously put "PREM" instead of "UEFA" in front of Auxerre

Since when were Auxerre in the premiership? and the WC final was NOT Man U V Liverpool.
Sort it out.
Anyway the UEFA cup means nothing, Forest got to the semi's a few years back FS. It's like saying that Southampton are one of the best teams in England because they got to the FA cup final And saying Blackburn are one of the best because they got to the WC final.

apologies for the auxerre mistake, but i think youll find the worthington cup WAS man utd versus liverpool.
How can a cup competition "mean nothing" ? Thats just retarded. Thats like saying "Yes blackburn did the double over arsenal but it doesnt matter because arsenal has a better chance of winning the competition"
Forest used to be good. If its so unimportant and easy to get to a UEFA cup final, then why are celtic the only british team left in europe?
I dont think Liverpool found the UEFA cup "unimportant" two seasons ago. Because its not. Its a trophy, with prize money, just like the premiership, just like the FA Cup.
Your argument makes no sense.

I never said it meant nothing, it just doesn't represent who the best team in the country are. or the best team in Europe.
It's not unimportant OR easy BUT the league is a much better way of finding out who the best teams are - not cup competitions.

Whats the general opinion of Antti Niemi here?. Is he overrated or is Southampton actually standing at his shoulders? Finnish media atleast seem to descripe him as a new schmeichel of some sort. That is nothing new so If anyone has opinion of him let me know....

Personally I have to disagree slightly. Its one thing to step up a gear for the big games like 'lesser' teams do it cups but another to do it week in week out.
Even throwing them into Div 1 I feel they wouldnt walk it simply because they are used to having 4 high quality league games a season and in the prem where EVERY team no matter their league position will put up a fight and give you a hard game would be a huge task for them to attain a decent league position and could very well be fighting religation

He is imho 1 of the 3 best keepers in the Premiership atm.
Friedel
Cudicini
Niemi
Just about in that order i think, although 2nd and 3rd are very close.
He has also been nominated as one of the 6 candidates for the Barclaycard Golden Glove award along with Friedel, Cudicini, Wright, Given and Hoult.

Niemi has been superb this season although putting all the credit for southamptons success this season would be a little harsh. Strachen has built up a fantastic Squad and has instilled a great team spirt

53: Slovakia
54: Iraq
55=: Cuba
55=: Guatemala
55=: Thailand
58: Hungary
59: Scotland

that was painful viewing last night.. awful game for any neutral..
good job though celtic.. they didn't really look up for it to me :/
I'm sure the performance in final will be much better as after they get whooped on sunday they can put all their effort into preparing for the uefa final and forgetting the league.

The quality of the refereeing has been poor, that has had a considerable factor on determining the result of certain games in the uefa cup (and indeed the champions league) this season.

so what happened against Basle in the CL?
Cel-who?
Then there was Man Utd who beat Basle home and away, and also beat Liverpool home and away this year. Liverpool r struggling for a European place (they won worthington cup so they've qualified anyway), so saying that ud walk into premiership and do well is a bit of a joke really.
Celtic at best would get a UEFA cup spot and that's at best in the Premiership.
And one good season in Europe proves very little, Man Utd in CL quarter finals every year for last 7yrs or so i think. Arsenal r getting better in Europe, and i was impressed with the way Newcastle did this year and there's Celtic who couldnt even beat some Swiss side who day jobs consist of milking cows and yoodling

Yes and Selhurst Park is about 10 mins from me so it's obviously great!
But I presume he meant that CP's previous ground share arrangement with Wimbledon. Possibly. But it belongs to Palace, obviously.
Anyway : You can't do this "We beat them who beat them, etc". It's bollocks. Shrewsbury beat Everton. Shrewsbury is bottom of Division 3. Therefore Everton are the worst team in the league!

Besides, apart from getting more money out of more lucrative tv deals, they (Rangers and Celtic) would have the extra appeal of not playing in a crappy competition. Top players would be more willing than they are now to move to said clubs.

Hertha-who?
One more game, and its official. Celtic would walk into the Premiership. And Rangers with them.

so what happened against Basle in the CL?
|
Might i add that Liverpool also failed to beat Basle in the group stages in Europe. The Liverpool team who had gone 11 games unbeaten in the premiership at the time, The Liverpool team that had finished 3rd in the league last season , and have a good chance of again making the CL this season.
Its an open and shut case that most teams in England are now scared to meet a Scottish team in a european competition.

That game last night was dire. There have been nationwide games i've seen this season that were better than that load of tripe we were served last night. Celtic looked as flat as a pancake in midfield.
Celtic would only survive in the prem on the basis that they'd have the spending power to get players to keep them up.
And Palace don't even own their ground. Ron Noades owns it, who was chairman of Brentford. Terrible for a club with the 5 best strikers in div 1 according to their chairman *smirk*. Noades/Jordan don't 'get on' so palace are unlikely to ever own Smellhurst. Ah the information you get from AFC Wimbledon fans.
