China ran out of names, because there are so many of them, so they needed some new ones.
Unless he just likes being called Bob.

Re: Something that will amuse me for the rest of my life
Chinese people often pick a random english-sounding name for themselves.
I know a guy who's real name is zoulang (spelling probably wrong) who is Joe, and a girl who's real name i forget, who chose Ashling (Irish name, probably spelt wrong)

Re: Something that will amuse me for the rest of my life
I went to school with someone doing the same thing.
Although he was a tad more obscure.
His real name was Wales Cheung, but he called himself Gale.
(Gales being italian for Wales)
Strange.

Re: Something that will amuse me for the rest of my life
i know some chinese people choose themselves "english" names when they come to an english speaking country, but for god sake
"Bob" - it doesnt work
What makes it even funnier is his real name is "lee" - did he think this is too difficult for us westeners to remember?

Re: Something that will amuse me for the rest of my life
Here's some passport office random information for you:
People with "chinese names" are the only people who are allowed to give an application form with more names than is on their birth certificate.
The additional name is an english sounding one.
This is to help Brits apparantly.
