What the flying...
Quote:
Man will only help brother as Man United fan
The Englishman Martin Warburton, had no problems with offering his brother Paul Warburton, suffering of leukemia (blood cancer), cell transplants. However, Paul first had to become a Manchester United fan.
Martin made his brother Paul, who was a fan of Manchester City, sign a contract in which he promised to cheer for Man United. In addition, he has to always wear something red, buy Manchester United merchandise and clean his house with a Manchester City shirt.

"I'll save your life if you do this..." isn't duress?

No, its a proposition of a trade. Duress implies that one party has somehow used force or coercion to get the other person to agree, not simply offered a proposal which the other is perfectly free to turn down.
If this constitutes duess, then so does a hospital saying "We'll save your life if you pay us £40,000 for expensive medical treatment"

I'd still like to see him try to get a court to enforce it.

Well yeah, theres no way it would stand up in court but that just proves that courts in this country are pretty screwed up.

Re: What the flying...
This is one of those great cases where it really would be funny if the main character got AIDs and died.

I don't think that would be much better.
I do however have an urge to kick him. Hard.

Yeah, although I think most contracts have some kind of end date. I think courts look dimly on things which go on forever. You can sign a contract saying you'll do x/y task, but x/y task forever seems to be a bit unreasonable.

Re: What the flying...
Offer and acceptance: Check
Consideration: Check
No undue duress: Check
I see no problem with this legally.
