Amps Vs Distorters

At the moment Distorters win the battle hands down as they can be built quicker and for less cost than amps.

So is there a way that scanners could be allowed to "pool" amps to break through ?

To pad this out a little, all who have pooled their amps would need to be active at the same time, and all would need to pay the scan cost.

If dist whoring is useless then perhaps the community needs to know this as there are people playing who have more distorters than you could have built amps

Unfortunatly this is not true. Scanning does not require someone to build ships. Disting does, so no matter how many you end up building a scanner at end game can build 250 amps and a dister can only build 249 dists and 1 factory. So the scanner wins.

Disting in general is not benefical, although it is fun at round start the loss of income from not having refs/fc's means that you dont keep up value/score with those around you. People will just blind roid you and sk you because they can, your planet falls back quickly and the disting you did loses you the round.

I've been saying this for years. Most recently after I distwhored myself in round 50, in no uncertain terms. Some people just refuse to listen.

What is the problem?

Can not a planet be left unscannable if he/she is determined to disregard other aspects of planet just to get many distorters?

What is the real issue? Is it the fear someone might possibly gain some sort of advantage for a given period of time?

Or is the issue that dedicated scanners still can't really keep up, atleast not first part of the round?

Because, distwhoring comes with a price, and if you are willing to pay that price well so be it - do not make changes that renders a strategy useless.

Every strategy for your planet have an alternative cost, for distwhoring it is the lack of other constructions to help build your planet.

For scanners rushing scans, it is the delay of getting amps.
For scanners rushing amps, it is the delay of getting scan research done.

If you were to "pool" amps, you could mind aswell let dedicated scanners get all research and unlimited amps free of charge t1, and maybe install script so they don't have to spend time doing anything, and don't have to be afraid that dedicated distwhores blocks them.

Because, I do believe the amount of people taking distwhoring to the extreme, let us define that as 200 dists by round end or more are so few, that they really do not matter.

Distwhoring is useful if you want it to be.

If you want to have a mediocre planet with little to no random incs, and most likely limited coordinated incs it is a viable plan.

If you also want to have a slightly higher chance of landing attacks due to people being unsure of what you have of ships it is a viable plan.

Distwhoring is not useful if your aim is to be a top planet, it is also not useful if you don't follow through and end up being scanned by many - as you then have a poor planet and you have lost your advantage.

Point is, every strategy have its pros and cons - and it is up to each planet to decide what is benefical for your own goals and ambitions
