You can only acknowledge that you perceive an object which according to your perception and experience meets all the requirements of what you have been taught bears the classification "rock". The certainty of this perception can be increased by testing the rock through as many senses as possible - sight, smell, taste, sound, touch.
Whether the rock is really there, is completely irrelevant.

As I said, the only way to determine whether something around you exists, is by testing it through your senses - they are the only way to conceptualise the world around you.
If there is an evil scientist capable of plugging electrodes into you in order to deceive your senses, then your entire way of determining the actual world around you collapses, and the world that is created by your brain becomes as real to you as the actual one outside of your body.
If you at any one point, however, become unable to determine the deception from reality, then it doesn't really matter to you which is which anymore, does it?

Pick up the rock and examine it carefully. Note the color, texture and especially the heft of the rock. Now lift the rock up high directly above your head and release it. Repeat until all doubts of the rocks existence have dissipated.

Everyone knows Internet respect is of a far lower quality than real life respect. It also appears and disappears quicker, so Qdeathstar shouldnt feel too bad - he should just write a cracking tale of how ended up having mad passionate jungle love with their supervisors wife, or their worst enemies girlfiriend till the early hours of the morning - while the said supervisor/enemy was in the next room, alone - and post this magical saga on an internet forum much like our very own GD and I'm sure he'll win back enough net-respect to do him over for a few days.
And slightly more on topic, discussing philsophy of existance on this level is bad. The person asking the questions looks like an idiot, everything in this discussion has already been said by someone else who was richer, more powerful and cleaner than you , and they said it before you were born, and the person who has the last word in the discussion is just the person who can use google more efficiantly than the rest.
