right, im getting a phone with bluetooth soon, and i need to know what i need to do with my PC to be able to synch it with my phone, is it just a case of buying a bluettoth card for my PC, and is it worth getting an expensive one or will a cheap card do?
and do i need any software to allow my PC and phone to communicate?
anyone know?

Re: bluetooth for PC
a mate bought a bluetooth adapter for a tenner.
The short range ones are cheap apparently.
Or you could get a normal USB adapter for a similar price.
Software generally comes with the phone.

Re: bluetooth for PC
Just get a USB bluetooth dongle and stop being a pussy.
Sorry, that was overly hostile, I just had an intense urge to call you a pussy.
I run my Nokia through a PCMCIA bluetooth adapter (that wierd orange thing which spent all weekend on your table.) It sync's phonebook and lets me transfer graphics etc. Functionality of course depends on the phone, but they're easy enough to set up and use + no cables!

Re: bluetooth for PC
I use a USB dongle. Perfect if you have more USB ports than you can shake a stick out.
As for the software for linking the phone to the pc. Most manufacturers will bundle all the required software in the box, failing that Nokia and Sony Sven, have the software available to download over the internet.
If you're getting a Siemens, then you're ****ed.

Re: bluetooth for PC
Yep, I got a Belkin usb adapter which does the job just fine.
I would be careful though about going for anything too cheap or unknown as some are not compatible with mobile phones. I know this from experience as I prevoiusly had a cheapy Sprint usb adapter that I got from Tandy but didn't work with my phone.

An early 1992 advertisment from Rainbow Technologies (a
manufacturer of dongles) claimed that the word derived from
"Don Gall", the alleged inventor of the device. The company's
receptionist however said that the story was a myth invented
for the ad.

WARNING!!!
Nokia's software is ABSOLUTELY SHIT!
I had the displeasure of trying to use it with my 7650. It refuses point blank to use the proper bluetooth serial port comm system and uses its own crappy "Mobile Router" software that only connects 50% of the time. And the actual PC Suite is horrible, once you've got Mobile Router working.
I have since switched to a Sony Ericsson T630 which
a) Doesn't need any software cos it supports bluetooth properly (so you can sync etc anyway)
b) Has this fantastic software available, so you never have to use the proprietry SE stuff, which is about as shit as nokia's is
