You have an XT Case (i think) same as my old system. You cannot change it.

Re: my computer wont switch off
I'm assuming this is a computer that normally shuts down properly and has recently stopped. It's happened to me before, can't remember the fix for sure but it might be
control panel > power options > enable advanced power management support

Re: my computer wont switch off
when my computers switched off the HDD red light is still on.
I unplugged it from the mains but it still stays on...
When the comp is switched on it behaves properly so nothing has shorted on the MB...
Any ideas?

Re: my computer wont switch off

Does it flash blue for a second? (Ie the BSOD) because the default settin for xp iirc is to reboot when it happens. I had a problem with this once, and it was bloody annoyin cos I couldnt get to read the error msg (until I figured out the setting!)
If not I dunno - sorry

Re: my computer wont switch off
no, it shuts down normally. no error, no nothing.
if i disconnect the lan only it keeps rebooting.
if i use my old keyboard it reboots.
but if i disconnect the lan and use my old keyboard it shuts down.
