British police gone nuts
British police shoot more innocent civilians
Have British police gone completely nuts? They used to just walk around with a night stick. Now they shoot people at random.

Oh my god, they responded to coming under live fire from snipers!
Had that happened in America, I would expect to see air support called in...

Haha I can't believe any of you responded to this. Has it been this long since anyone even vaguely half-assed tried to troll GD?

Are you sure it was sniper fire? On the bbc website it just said they had been shot at, which is rather different from coming under live fire from snipers.

Jonny: On the ITV News earlier this evening, their "head officer bloke" (can't remember his exact title) said something along the lines of:

Re: British police gone nuts
Saying it was snipers implies that there was some deal of precision. From what's been shown it seems to be mostly smaller arms fire from pistols and sub machine guns. Which are generally the mainstay of the Loyalists who attacked the police.
And I do take it that Mr. Texan is just trying to troll. I mean anyone who actually read that report of any other couldn't say that the police shot innocent victims.
And at random? They were being pummeled with blast bombs, petrol bombs, sticks, stones and then were shot at. They seemingly returned fire at two masked men, but didn't hit anyone and the impression was got that this was deliberate.
Personally I LOVE the Orange Orders comments:
Quote:
The Orange Order accused the police of adopting "a brutal and heavy-handed" approach.
The Order was angered by the directive to re-route the parade, one of its seasonal marches in a province that remains substantially divided along religious lines.
|
Watching the news they showed police camera footage of the Orange men, armed with bottles, sticks, pipes and bricks, hammering them into police lines, while dressed in full Orange Order regalia.
"How dare you stop us marching a mile out of our way to walk through a catholic housing estate! Everyone riot and attack the cops!"
So Loyalist violence spreads ever further. Murders, assasinations, intimidation, house burning, pipe bombing, punishment attacks, rioting.
If they Nationalist community was doing that there would be uproar. But it takes a 700man riot to even make the news if it's Loyalists.

I wonder is that in the training manual. "Sarge, what do we do if someone has a ceremonial sword?" "Umm hang on...Sub-Machine Gun....Sticks....Sling....shit, there's nothing bout a sword in the manual"
How the hell do you get away with that exactly? You're on camera. You're disguised in a white shirt, bright orange sash, bowler hat and wielding a large sword.
It's not like you're ****ing inconspicuous.
Yet I bet he won't be charged.

Is "Texan" some kind of account you americans log into, in order to project the standard image of an american redneck, and then slander him to increase your popularity with the europeans?

You, never having worn the cross rifles, have no idea what it is your talking about. You're not 'in' on it. You Army goons always are so naive to believe that Marines are anything like a soldier.
On top of that, I have no idea what it is you're talking about, but that just might be because you don't understand what it means to be a Marine.

My response to this statement is henceforth:
"If the cops were under sniper fire, they would have been unable to return fire."
Assuming of course that this is not Iraq in which a 13 year old has a sniper rifle and that the Irish/whatever shooter has a vague idea and knowlege of how to properly use a firearm.

Re: British police gone nuts
As you know I have been absent from these boards for some time now, almost a year in fact. After a quick but of reading, I discovered the following facts.
-Yahwe has been unbanned or made a new account, and is back.
-Texan seems to have a tenuous grip on reality.
-Very little else has changed.
Out of curiosity, ignoring 1 and 3 for a moment, what exactly happend to Texan? If he is in fact a troll now, and I can find no other logical explanation for his vapid and pointless post beginning this thread, when did this start? He was always a bit of a mook to be sure, but he seems to have descended to new lows...

In so far as I can see any logic in it, he became annoyed that people were saying the American governement made a mess of handling Katrina, so the obvious course of action is to start criticising the British government in the most poorly thought-out way possible.

Re: British police gone nuts
I see. So when faced with the reality of the fact that the US government was incompetent in its handling of a major crisis, he took umbrage and, in order to demonstrate how it could not be true, decided to act in as incompetent a manner as possible?
Interesting tactic.
How's it working out for him?

Oh look vermillion's back. GD is a little like syphilis I think. It's ****ing horrible at the start and it annihilates your social life but then after a while it pisses off and you forget that it exists and live your life normally but sooner or later BOOM back it comes with a vengeance and before you know it you're braindead.

Was he right about something? Has Taxan been slandered unjustifiably? I dont know, all I can see are his posts over the last couple days, exemplified by this thread. Ithat evidence certainly seems to be closer to the condemnation side then the innocent side.
Perhaps I shall wait and see for myself, but so far your uninformative one-liner is the only voice in his defence... not a good sign.

No one was blaming the American government. They were blaming the president. Pointing out that the mayor of New Orleans and the governor of Louisiana had primary and secondary responsibility for the safety of the people of New Orleans was a waste of time. Many people on this forum had alredy made up their minds regardless of their lack of knowledge about how the United States functions.
See for example Posse Comitatus Act.
They also had made up their minds that Bush himself was going to personally lead an enquiry into who was responsible and that no other branch of government would be doing so. Also not true.
See tin pot dictatorship.
After that went on for about a week, I just decided to post lies and propaganda. And they responded well. They defended their countries from the lies and propaganda, just as I thought they would.
I will continue to defend my country from lies and propaganda on this forum, and i will continue to post lies and propaganda about other countries. It seems to be the direction in which many people want this forum to develop.

I quite clearly praised the Mayor of New Orleans. The man swore on national radio as a way of emphasising the man made calamity. The governor of lousiana was criticised by me for praising the shoot to kill policy rather than worrying about food and water.
And yes I criticised Bush, as i believe history will.
did you actually bother to read what was written???

bush is going to chair an enquiry. the fact that there will be other enquiries doesn't really alter the fact that this is an awful thing for a man potentially to blame to do.
All through the situation we quoted sources. pefectly valid sources.
How were we to know that you care more about the dignity of your President than you do for the lives of your fellow citizens???

I, and I imagine quite a few others, were well aware of how the US functions. However as supporters of many of the rather extreme "anti-terrorism" bills have pointed out extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures. Perhaps hurricane katrina is a valid time for extraordinary temporary measures? The fact that you emerged into a flawed system, instead of being partly responsible for its creation, is not necessarily a valid excuse for not correcting its flaws.

Re: British police gone nuts
Here is the thread that got me pissed off. You can read it if you want. Vermillion.

I can't stand to read it again. There were very few links posted with actual facts. The few links that were posted were to suppositions made by the media. Including the lie that Bush will chair an enquiry.
Here is another interesting link. Some of you may have seen it before. Do you know what it is?

There has been some talk about getting rid of the Posse Comitatus Act. That, unfortunately, would be the next step to an autocratic government.

I wish your threads did the same thing.
