Fun Committee
If you can quite believe it we have one at work.
I think it's rather bizzare, so does everyone else.
But I need Ideas for 'fun' things to do for a bunch of workmates!!!
(silly replies had damn well better be really funny, because i actually need serious ones - as one of my colleagues said "how do you suggest ideas for a group of people who's only hobby is drinking")

Re: Fun Committee
find a pub that does nice food and take a trip there, rather than just going out for drinks.
merge a works outing with the GD meet and watch hilarity ensue? :|

this didn't come from the board.

Re: Fun Committee
Organised fun is shit.
Go out, get a few drinks in, see what happens. I don't like formality, I don't want black tie, I don't very much of a dress code, because such things are shit.
'Fun committee', just look at yourselves, FFS.

Re: Fun Committee
I may have misrepresnted the issue :/
we drink far too much as it is: one yearly ball, 4 quarterly 'all day' sessions, monthly drinks + client events and candidate events that we host + client events that clients host + friday and thursday down the pub, team drinks, team dinners, division drinks, division dinners etc etc etc et al.
the fun committe is designed to steer us away from alcohol - we're a cross between marketting/pr/sales
this is why everybody is stumped for ideas!!

or you could have a business system of consultants who each supply a percentage of the percentage that they bill so that the 'business' is a supplier of office space, brand and amenities and the 'employees' are essentially small companies in their own right.
EDIT: yes for those who are interested the structure is essentially the same one I had as a barrister without the barristers being in actual competition with each other

Re: Fun Committee
Well if drinking is what people want then revolve it around drinking.
Maybe some sort of "theme"? Maybe you could make it World Cup orientated - everyone has a different country and has to dress in something that represents that country (garlic and beret for France, matador's outfit for Spain, clogs, a ginger wig and being wrong about everything for Holland). That was off the top of my head
Alternatively hire a boat on the Thames or something for drinking.
Do the Monopoly pub crawl (although that's 25 or so pubs, so you'd have to only do half of them or something)?
What kind of people are these? Are they the kind who would dress up for a theme night or not? Are they quite serious? Are they young or old?

Re: Fun Committee
if i'm allowed input on something like this, i usually think along the lines of
"what did i want to do anyway that now i can get someone else to pay for?"
usually ends up being sporting events etc. but maybe it'll help.

Re: Fun Committee
You could have a private screening of T&F's movie and ask everyone to dress up like French maids for the day.
Talk everyone at work into joining Planaterion and have gaming Thursdays.
Talk Like a Pirate Day at work could be strange enough and the look on clients faces could be amusing.
Have a luau.
Pie eating contests.
Talent contest (you could win with your singing ability).
Scavenger hunt.

Our "fun committee" for our new partnership suggested archercy, clay pigeon shooting and bowling.
