Well done and thanx to all who voted against Overburn
Our voices were heard, and the creators listened to reason.
Stay active, stay informed, and make your feelings heard on the issues...we can, and will, make a difference.
(special thanx to Leshy (for making my poll 'real' here) and for A2 (for putting my poll on the portal) much obliged guys!)

If you based it on the poll, what where the stats at the end? I didn't get a chance to look at the final votes.

forum poll has less than 300 votes, not too accurate of a poll.
portal poll has more people (though not all). 2095 votes.
50% says remove both attack and defense.
46.7% says keep at least one.
Basically, 3.3% or 69 people decided for the whole community. That is following your logic that our 'voices' were heard.

What a **** arguement.
I suppose if a new president or prime minister is elected with only 25% of the country voting then he shouldn't be there, as the appointment wasnt decided by 'the whole community'?
Or maybe the other 75% could't be bothered to fill out their voter registration forms, in the same way people here couldn't be bothered to fill out their forum registration pages just to vote on a poll they dont really give a **** about.
The people who cared, voted. End of story. If you feel strongly for or against an issue, then make sure you vote when needed. If not, live with it.

Well ok, but you can twist this both ways.
25.5% say keep overburn.
71.2% want to get rid of overburn in some form.

sorry cochese got carried away. on topic however, i am particularly pleased that the crew took note of the poll. i wasnt too optimistic about the affect it would have on any decision but i beleive the majority now has what it wants. hurrah for democracy.

Don't equate number of people with number of votes; at least when it comes to forum polls. With a very small amount of effort, people can vote as many times as they want.

OB defence certainly was an attraction and useful feature for the less active players. Removing OB defence just puts more potential customers off. It only helps the hardcore players who don't want their targets to be able to get defence from their 3am launch. Another nail in the coffin for PA.

idjit, would you play if you knew it was a game in which a successfull attack was nearly impossible? Infact, OB was much more in favour of those who had enough flak(be that friends of multi-planets) or those which had the skills to get past it's usual draw-backs.
If the Strategy-Forum crew tells you something, listen up and don't bitch ffs...

So - OB defence gone.
The only thing that can save this round now is to keep ETA advantage (Cluster/Parallel) for defence only (as it was last round).
(Speaking purely as a player who enjoys an occasional four hours of sleep).

It is offset by the existence of both parallels and clusters.
*shrug*
OB defence saved as many '1337' players as it saved 'newbies' during r8. All-in-all, I think the new changes provide greater advantages to those who engage with cluster/parallel alliances, which has to be a good thing for building community, which is something that PA relies upon.

OB attack was the only real way i got roids last round. about 90% of my OB attacks got through while only about 10% of my normal ones... and before you say 'TEAM UP YOU DUMB-ASS' over half my normal attacks were team efforts... on targets usually under 10mil in the kind of range a planet like me could attack...

So how many times did you vote? Me I voted numerous times
Also since it was tied into # of people in public galaxies. The vote is not a pure love/hate for OB. But a twisted poll on both topics. A much better poll would have been straight. OB keep it or toss it.

I'd have thought it was a far bigger advantage to the big alliance player with huge pools of ships ready to save them at ETA 5. Overburn just increased the levels of fustration and bordem, a far better system is the reduced cluster/parrallel ETA as it promotes co-operation between players and there's always the intensity of cluster/parrallel wars.
How is removing something which the majority of players wanted removed a nail in Planetarion's coffin ? The nails were hit into the coffin by the newbie friendly changes and not by doing what the majority of players asked for, people moan when the creators don't listen and then moan when they do.

Also since it was tied into # of people in public galaxies. The vote is not a pure love/hate for OB. But a twisted poll on both topics. A much better poll would have been straight. OB keep it or toss it.

He's actually taking about the poll that was solely about overburn and was a mirror image of the PD one.
He's not talking about the one that had the 2 issues combined.

Pleasing the masses is always a difficult task, as the masses may share certain opinions, but not all

The only reason I, being semi-active, did well last round, was the OB attacks i could do now and then. Counter and retaliate enemies, and attacking some lowbies in higher clusters did it for me. When the round ended I was roidrank 500ish. Without OB I dont stand a chance. I know more have this feeling. Instead of attracting more players to this game by such decisions, the oposite will happen. Ppl like wont play the game, while I would have when OB would have been there. You always keep the actives anyway, they dont run away for OB...well apparently they do, but you know what I mean
