Private Customisable Speed Rounds?
this is just an idea, but would it be theoretically possible to offer private customisable speed rounds? E.g. if one alliance/block/group of people decides they would like to run their own PA championship would it be possible for them to buy an entire speed round whith a set number of planet slots, which they could then freely distribute (for money, for free, for sex - whatever way they wish)?
And if that was possible, would it be possible to customise your own speed rounds in some regards, e.g. select one of the previous rounds shipstats or make 10 minute ticks instead of 2 minute ticks, or have everryone start with full res/con or simple things like that? (I guess using your own completely customised shipstats would be too difficult to implement)
And if all that was possible, aproxximately how much would it cost? I'd assume that this should be cheaper than the regular price for the total amount of available planet slots in a regular speed round since PA would have no financial risk in conducting it.
Edited: The fact that only one transaction to PA is neccessary for this and hence less of the money drowns in the transaction fess might also speak in favour of being able to offer this at a lower price for the same or more profit...

I can vaguely remember there was a discussion about this like one year ago.. I think Spinner said it was impossible due to safety reasons or so? Something with the code and all that (i don't know a thing about how a game like PA is made ).
Or was that when pa was going to be closed and Spinner didn't want to sell the code?

You're right.
The idea would appear to be that you pay PAHQ to host a speedgame for you (on the otherwise unused Speed Boxes).

otherwise unused except when one of the main ones breaks...
But yeah, its a good idea. Being able to set-up alliance vs. alliances games would be good as well, with equal numbers it would be interesting to see how they compare- and would be able to play otherwise friendly alliance against each other maybe. (though the way PA players seem to hold grudges maybe this isn't so likely.

Random Planetarion Player(Kilroy): "It's my birthday next week"
His friends: "Let's give him his own planetarion speedround, so he can finnally win this game and stop playing"
But now for real, not a bad idea.. I think to promote Planetarion speedrouds at lan's are a perfect thing(ofc they did with I10 etc)

Very good idea. Jolt already hosts fps-servers for clans so hosting speedround would not be too much of a change in their politics.

Hi!
Many thanks to Wakey for bringing this thread to my inbox (-:
Indeed, what you suggest was one of the original plans we had in regards to speedgames, that alliances could "book a weekend" etc. So it is indeed possible.
And a certain level of customissation is possible too, even stats.
As for the price being lower, possibly, but not a whole huge lot cheaper. BEcause we need to be there during the game, monitoring it etc, as so much can be ruined in the event of something going wrong and the ticker ticks so quickly that situations escalate rather quick when something goes wrong.
It would also depend on how many would be playing ofc.
But if anyone is interested in doing such a thing, contact me, and we can discuss it. But if you are just 10-20 players, I am afraid it is far to much work to be worth it, and it aint all that fun either.
But sure, if you think you can muster enough people, contact me, and we can see!

we could have some kind of championship
ally vs ally, like the championsleague, and it all ending upin semi and finals.
im sure the bigger allies could get 80-100 members each making upto 200 players in the games.

i think the idea of making the speed servers available for these challenge matches could turn into a nice money earner if handled properly
